Sure, though from a legal standpoint he's mostly correct as we found out. Practice and law enforcement seems to be another matter.

No we did not. Iran 40,000 under 15s pa. Saudi legal, Yemen legal etc etc. I am not going back over it all again. You clearly have an agenda to deny anything wrong is going on.

Just that I haven't denied anything wrong is going on. Stop making up things please, but I know that's a very commonly used discussion "tactic" by you. Which leads us back you being disingenuous.

How you can conclude that from all the evidence presented is beyond me. You just do not want to see it. That is fine if that is genuinely your conclusion. I fail to see how hundreds of thousands of underage brides can mean it is 'mostly correct' that it does not happen.

Do you understand what a sentence like "Practice and law enforcement seems to be another matter" could maybe, just maybe mean?

Do you also have an idea what a "Sure" as an answer for "Do you disagree with the BBC reporter" could maybe suggest?

Seriously, buddy...

Edy, do you think that clerics (especially in non-secular countries) giving a viewpoint influences the population at all?

Do you realize that in these countries the clerics are the law and issue marriage licenses for children to marry? Is this a practice you support?

A photo of a 15-year-old boy and a girl, 14, trying to register their marriage on the island of Sulawesi has been shared widely online since last week, sparking renewed pressure on the government to end such underage unions.

The couple had sought permission from a religious court for their marriage – which was given – and the girl told reporters their union was her “destiny” after they had been dating for five months.

Indonesia this time....

'Fifty thousand girls still marry before the age of 15 each year in Indonesia.'

Given that I clearly said it's still an ongoing process of breaking free from them...what do you think?

Seriously...stop playing this purposefully obtuse forum character.

No need for personal insults Edy.

It seems that we agree that the clerics in countries where they either make the law or heavily influence the law/behaviour are an issue when trying to end child marriage and child sex.

Well over 100,000 girls under 15 are affected a year worldwide by the practice and tens of thousands in the UK.

I was gobsmacked to hear Ed Husain on Radio 5 today. Not sure I've ever heard someone given a platform to openly question Islam and having his book endorsed in the process.

He poured scorn on the cries of 'Islamaphobia!' every time someone criticises Islam.

'Sajid Javid orders research into ethnicity of grooming gangs and victims'

Sajid Javid revealed work is under way to identify the "characteristics" of child sex abusers and their victims in a bid to tackle a "national threat".

Police will use the results to improve "targeting" of the gangs and "prevention activity".

Mr Javid made the announcement in a letter to Sarah Champion, the Labour MP for Rotherham who has previously said Britain has a "problem with British Pakistani men raping and exploiting white girls".

https://news.sky.com/story/sajid-javid-orders-research-into-ethnicity-of-grooming-gangs-and-victims-11449198

Will be interesting to see if he gets different results to Quilliam Foundation which found 84% of those convicted since 2005 of gang grooming were 'Asian'.

Forced marriage: Leeds parents jailed over Bangladesh wedding

The woman was taken to Bangladesh with other family members for what they had been told was a holiday.

But the parents had made extensive plans for her wedding to a first cousin.

She reacted against the plan and her father hit her, with her mother's encouragement, the court heard.

Her father said he would "chop her up in 18 seconds" if she continued to reject the proposed marriage, the judge was told.

Dafydd Enoch QC, defending her father, told the court: "These events are not borne out of malice, hate, greed or prejudice. They were borne of deep-seated culture."

Well done the daughter and her boyfriend for standing up against these monsters. 'Culture' is no excuse for forced marriage to first cousins, FGM, rape gangs and so on.

WD,

Would you be favour of making first cousin marriages illegal or would that be a step too far?
By:
Whisperingdeath
When: 31 Jul 18 17:42
To be honest Insider I thought they were illegal in this country, except perhaps for RoyaltyWink

Maybe it isn't illegal, I don't know but it is certainly a social taboo. I think in Pakistan it is legal and that is why they have so many congenital diseases!

So here's one for you IT

Will you defend the right for women to wear whatever clothing they chose to wear in this country?
By:
InsiderTrader
When: 31 Jul 18 18:05
Do you mean anywhere? I am not sure about stuff like the free the nipple campaign to be honest. But suppose anywhere mean are allowed to be topless women should be as well.

On first cousin marriage it is legal in the UK. 55 per cent of British Pakistanis are married to their first cousins – and in Bradford, the number is high, 75 percent of British Pakistani Community is married to their cousin. This practice has been practiced over many generations.
By:
Whisperingdeath
When: 31 Jul 18 18:30
No I am talking about women wearing Burkha's as you well know!

Do you think they have a right to wear what they like?

Unfortunately I think they do but I find it offensive. I would not ban it but would not allow teachers to cover their faces, would not allow drivers to cover their faces, would not allow people to walk into government offices or public places like banks and even shopping centres while covering their faces. If they want to cover their hair that is fine by me but I think it is stupid! It is not religious but cultural!

I find it strange and hard to believe that first cousin marriages are legal in this country. We all know it is wrong and don't do it! I also find it hard to believe that so many British Pakistani's marry their first cousins. Could you kindly quote your evidence for this. 75% in Bradford is shocking! It should be outlawed!

I am unsure on the Burka. I personally find it uneasy and that it stops integration. What chance does someone wearing the full gear have of getting a regular job?

On the number those figures are on a number of reports.

I hope the new study into grooming gangs sees if this is part of the 'cultural' issues involved. If people are marrying family members for visas and so on rather than for love could this lead to problems?

Thanks,

I was looking for an official statistic though not a Daily Mail report! If it is anywhere near the truth it is deeply disturbing! Mind you they deserve it! I am a Darwinist!
