And no more than that donny. Given the numbers that came and the lack of technology at the time it's no surprise if a few hundred went unaccounted for really. Blown out of all proportion by the more desperate, imo.

if the "few hundred " were treated decently when problems arose then it might be something blown out of proportion

but the treatment they received is disgusting, and shames this country

Many thousands of rape victims in certain towns in recent years, and we never saw all this relentless clamour for resignations over that. This is about political virtue signalling.

their treatment has been shameful, i do see clamour for them to be helped.

not only the victims you mention but those young footballers abused, and those abused by the church.

who should resign? government ? ...the people carrying out the abuse should be persued and convicted, anybody that
was complicit should be persued and convicted

windrush abuse  is treatment by government directly on its citizens, so the direct course of action is to persue
those that caused the problems, ...

Their'injuries' range from a bit of worry to major inconvenience and emotional trauma. None have died or been raped and I'm sure they now all have a platform to help them gain maximum financial compensation. In the scheme of things it's a huge fuss about not very much.

A leaked memo suggests Amber Rudd was told of immigration removal targets,
despite her insistence she knew nothing about them.

The home secretary had initially told MPs there were no targets - before admitting
"local" targets had been set.

She then said she "was not aware of them" and had "never agreed that there should
be specific removal targets".

But the Guardian reported a June 2017 memo from an official, copied to Ms Rudd,
did refer to targets.

The newspaper reports that the six-page memo, from Immigration Enforcement Agency
boss Hugh Ind, states: "IE has set a target of achieving 12,800 enforced returns in 2017-18,
aided by the redistribution of resources towards this area.

"This will move us along the path towards the 10% increased performance on enforced returns,
which we promised the home secretary earlier this year."

It adds: "We have exceeded our target of assisted returns. We set an internal target of 1,250 of
these returns for 2016-17 … we delivered 1,581."

The Guardian says the memo was copied to Ms Rudd, then-immigration minister Brandon Lewis,
as well as some civil servants and advisers.

On Friday, Rob Whiteman, who was chief executive of the UK Border Agency from 2011 to 2013,
told the BBC all public services operated on targets and "of course" ministers would be aware of them.

He said: "Fair's fair, ministers could say we don't actually set these targets, they are being set by the
operations but I think it is disingenuous, surely, to suggest that they don't know that they exist because
they will have seen them in performance reports and other internal documents."

Ms Rudd has been under pressure over the issue of targets this week, having initially told the home affairs
select committee on Wednesday: "We don't have targets for removals."

But an inspection report from December 2015 emerged, showing targets for the voluntary departures of
people regarded as having no right to stay in the UK existed at that time.

On Thursday, Ms Rudd told MPs: "I have never agreed that there should be specific removal targets and
I would never support a policy that puts targets ahead of people.

Rudd has to go.

Totally and utterly useless from start to finish.

The real question is how on earth someone as low skilled as her got the job in the first place.

Rudd is inept but the left relentlessly trying to make this about race is just how desperate they are.

Earlier i read that the government are racist ? how silly is that.

The left are trying to score points on a subject where there dont have the numbers to back up their narrative, but anyway it is so bad that doesnt matter. Crazy

Head in hands man.

You are one boring barsteward.

Don't you get at all that all this is just base and tribal - and f*ckin' unnecessary?
You just see it all as a battle of left and right. Who has actually scored any sodding points?
No-one, that's who.
You aren't a bloody politician. Nor is anyone on here who keeps on going on about the left, lefties and any other perceived connected insult.

I would say the same if I kept seeing posts saying the right, righties or connected insults -but I haven't.

All the politicians are having a nice subsidised pint and cigarette in a house of commons bar while you lot keep all this shiet up.
Whenever one politician or party does anything the opposition always jump on it with the opposite, it isn't a one way thing.

He has a point Ibrahim,

Try imagine your mother receiving a letter say she didn't have the right paper wrok to love in this country even if she had a national Insurance Number and had been paying tax since she was 16 or so. How would you feel if she was told that a removal unit would be coming for her in 7 days?

Why is it a question of left, right or center?

It is about decency.

The problem is people were coming to Britain illegally then and people are coming to Britain illegally now, there may be millions of them.

Now if we discover that some of those illegal immigrants have been here 5 or 10 or 20 years
What do we do.

Or the illegals have had children with legals?

The main issue is people over staying their visas.

People who do this and then start crying should be the first to be removed.

No ifs or buts. If you overstay your visa you are fined, sent home and are never allowed back.

It is unfair on every people who jump through the hoops and pays the fees to come here legally.

its ok , those are the simple facts, of course you might have your own reasons for not wanting to look at the reality of what we face in this country
that's why we are in the mess we are in and people who are legally here and living in this country are the ones who suffer
that's too bad

You are right. Rudd should go because of this. They were told they were legal.

The reason I brought up illegals is because that is what everyone is saying is the cause of this. The 'Hostile environment' for illegals and the quotas for removing illegals which the Windrush people got caught up in by mistake. Now you have people who are being treated in a 'hostile' way for overstaying visas complaining.

This Windrush mistake by Rudd's team appears to already have led to the end of quotas for getting rid of illegals. If the environment becomes less hostile for illegals because of this there will be a masssive problem.

you can have a hostile enviroment to illegal immigrants if you maintain a fair and friendly environment
for legal immigrants.

doesnt seem too much to ask

but this government has failed on that score, and seems to miss the point.

give somebody else a go

Rudd is completely clueless.

Instead of saying we got this wrong because these people were legals but we are going to stay strong and get rid of illegals she just buckled and ditched the whole policy.

She is in place to get the number of immigrants down below 100,000 a year. What is her plan to do this? We hear nothing.

All she does is moan about social media and monitor our internet use.

it is impossible to get net migration down to those levels whilst expanding uni places
to foreign students and including them in the figures

of course once this expansion is complete net migration of students becomes zero

300k coming and 300k going

no doubt this will happen just before election and somebody will be hailed a genius
for simply doing nothing.

if you wish to check the figures going back May as home secretary was able to bring down immigration from outside the EU
Of course its impossible to do the same with the EU figures while we remain in the EU
By:

you can exclude student figures but they still require housing etc

so might as well include them to keep everything together

their numbers are highlighted within each announcement to make
it easy for certain departments to exclude
