Newton's laws of gravity - 300 not 500 years ago, will describe it easily enough.
Here you are... no, really, have a look! https://www.activewild.com/gravity-for-kids/ |

Does anyone else find it strange that the so called cleverest man on the planet
was a computerised voice. And not a single person understand a word he ever said. Except idiots like Brian Cox who thinks we went to the moon. |
|
By:
And what a strange coincidence the sun and the moon are exactly the same size in the sky.
And the moon spins exactly the right speed to only show one side of its face and it never deviates from this slow spin. But apparently it's all a coincidence according to mainstream educated sheeple. |

Gravity is not selective- a butterfly & an elephant butch experience gravity. There are plenty of examples to show the a Earth is spherical- you have not even attempted to try and explain them. (Sun, boats disappearing over horizon etc.) Halkings has very little to do with flat/spherical Earth. Loads of evidence without him. |
|
By:
Just to assist everyone to follow....
McGinty is seriously fishing (a very bad habit, btw) It's just a form of trolling. lfc is an idiot and lives under a bridge. |
|
By:
Boats/ships don't disappear over the horizon.
If you zoom in with new technology they reappear magically. And the sun sets and rises due to distance/perspective... (and no you can't see the Eiffel tower from your back garden as some globe-tard commented) |
|
By:
lfc's brain must have gone flat. You know, if anything lives long enough, over time, it becomes flat, like a piece of paper.
|
|
By:
And i am not fishing
There is a massive movement of people now who believe the earth to be flat and a lot are so called very 'well educated' (aka indoctrinated) |

A massive movement of idiots.
I wonder what it is about these things that makes people SO intransigent. |

Can't help but think of this for some reason...

I can't help but think that Paddy McGinty has been asking his goat for advice.

By:
Mcginty- if in the unlikely event that you are telling the truth about "a lot" of the "massive movement " being "well educated " perhaps one of them could answer the simple questions & post online as you have clearly failed.
How the f@@k - is sunrise/sunset about distance perspective- please explain? The sun is about 150 million KM, from Earth to Sun & about 5000 km from London to New York. Are you saying that at 9am in London we have no problem seeing the sun because it is only 150 million km away but the extra 5000km to New York means it is not possible to see the sun? All the angles of the sun at different places on Earth at different times of day & year can be explained by a Spherical Earth. We are still waiting for your flat Earth reasons. BTW boats (& planes) do "disappear " over the horizon. What is the magic new technology- a big ladder? |

Fairly recent story. Come on Flat Earthers where are you . $7k raised in 7 months to "prove" the Earth is flat. |

Even by the standards of some of the posts on here Wolf that's a pretty dumb statement.
|

By:
Flat is a shape, wolf.
The flatness applies to the mathematics of the infinite. ie. if you were to draw 2 parallel lines they would eventually meet, even if it was at the edge of the universe, if the universe were curved. So, the theory goes that if it is flat, it is finite and your lines would never meet. You can, as anyone with any idea about any subject does, mostly ignore anything lfc says. As I posted earlier: http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/about-us/103-the-universe/cosmology-and-the-big-bang/geometry-of-space-time/606-how-can-the-universe-be-flat-we-re-3d-beginner This was in part of the question answering section of that link: It's great when our readers answer their own questions! #2 is totally correct - when we say the universe is flat it is not in the same sense that a piece of paper is flat, but rather means that the geometry of the universe is such that parallel lines will never cross, the angles in a triangle will always add up to 180 degress, and the corners of cubes will always make right angles. We call this kind of geometry (the kind you learned in school) Euclidean geometry. It's easy to make examples in 2D space (ie. a flat piece of paper vs. a curved piece of paper, or the surface of a balloon). It's not so easy to illustrate flat 3D space - since we are 3D! So it's totally understandable that the concept is confusing |

By:
thanks for confirming that the universe is flat study
a piece of paper is 3D not 2D, like the universe. that is why the universe is flat..like a piece of paper |
|
By:
Most reasonable people can see the distinction between something being flat and something being spherical. A one foot plant growing on either doesn't change the distinction.
|
|
By:
there is erosion in space wolf, takes longer sometimes but that is the point,
time |
|
By:
Only lfc understands what he stated.
He's the one you need to ask..... but beware! It won't make much sense and you'll get about 20 posts in return. |
|
By:
it is the vastness of time that is important
|
|
By:
studyform you will have to understand that a piece of paper is 3D not 2D
try understanding that and then get back to us |
|
By:
Obviously my answer was to Wolf not lfc. I have no idea what lfc is trying to portray.
|
|
By:
I will ask the question of lfc though is there a distinction between something being spherical and something being flat. Just so I can get a reference point.
|
|
By:
its subtle Charlie, its not your fault
|
|
By:
it is 3D, but only just. At what thickness does 3D become 2D lfc?
I have put up plenty of links to try to explain what it is that lfc has confused himself about. |
|
By:
let me make it easy for you
the universe is flat, as flat as a piece of paper |
|
By:
From the astrophysics department at cornell university AGAIN:
It's great when our readers answer their own questions! #2 is totally correct - when we say the universe is flat it is not in the same sense that a piece of paper is flat, but rather means that the geometry of the universe is such that parallel lines will never cross, the angles in a triangle will always add up to 180 degress, and the corners of cubes will always make right angles. We call this kind of geometry (the kind you learned in school) Euclidean geometry |
|
By:
Can you read lfc?
Or is the astrophysics department at Cornell wrong too? |
|
By:
ah, we are making progress with study
now when we are talking about the universe I think we can assume that the piece of paper is larger than A4 size now forget about worrying about anything smaller than that |
|
By:
Because, wolf, he's talking blollocks
|
|
By:
|
|
By:
You seem to be ignoring thatwhich I have now posted 3 times, lfc.
Pure trolling |
