'brethren' - archaic plural of brother.

I find that to be 'out of date' and certainly not gender neutral.

Nawty step for you Case...

SO what are they replacing the ladies and gentlemen with?

I just googled this and it seems this was pledged by Khan in December last year? And the most recent article is from 5 days ago where a Green Party member reminds him of his promise. So why did Injera post it today? Just wondering...

Anyhow, these sort of issues make me sick. There are thousands more things to work on and people get p1ssed off with things like this? If i am a politician, what would I rather prefer? People criticizing me for abolishing announcements with ladies and gentlemen or people criticizng me for the way im doing my real job as the mayor? I'll take a debate on gender every single day of my mayorship if that keeps the people away from asking other questions. I hope he can magnify this issue and keep people guessing till the end of the term. Keep your subject busy in stupid stuff and you'll end up a great politician.

You disgust me Wandering person.  In the LGBT community we have struggled to be treated fairly and equally. Transphobic and homophobic ignoramuses like you can set us back years with careless, and frankly, plain nasty comments like that.

What you have to understand is if you feel you are inadequate in any way you can latch on to a whole number of excuses

Could be on to something here.  I reckon a lot of younger people feel inadequate.  They're brought up wrapped in cotton wool, told they're wonderful and are surrounded by the cult of celebrity like never before.  Then they start to realise as they become adults that actually they're pretty ordinary, they won't be mega-rich nor famous and in a crowd they are anonymous.  They counteract this by subconsciously deciding they are no longer a man or woman but are non-binary or cis or whatever's on Clouseau's list.  They then start to feel special again as they're no longer ordinary.  It's attention seeking that has crossed into insanity.

In the next Olympic Games athletes can compete under their chosen gender. This whole thing will be a financial trainwreck for women's sports.

If you feel you are inadequate as a man, for instance, to dress as a woman and be more attractive to guys who are into that - you become the center of attention etc etc. (self perception and all that.  As stated above. So much of it is in your head as they say.

Latest on this. It's official.

More evidence of paedos running the show? Nothing to stop the inevitable gender neutral toilets which is a paedo's dream. More than that the identity confusion being heaped upon our kids will leave them even more vulnerable to abuse.

Interesting how in Genesis it says 'he made them male and female'. Why bother saying that? God knew this day was coming..

The only problem for Mr Khan here is what does he do with the you know who community who won't play along with this new language game, in fact you'll be outright offending them by even suggesting that LGBTs might be human. Oh wait, do they get a fee pass on this one?   Alrighty, crack on then Mr Mayor Laugh
