I might have to qualify that a little.
I have no idea what has or hasnt happened down there, I was just refering to comments of those involved that I have seen while following this story. Personally to suggest cleasning is very extreme and probably fanicful imo. In fact I rather wish I hadnt used that word now. |

Corbyn must be gutted this didn't happen a couple of weeks ago.

Improving the view that the rich have of the building has failed !!! Now look at it.
I expect lots of arrests. Let's start with all those who have been delaying or sitting on fire prevention improvements then work our way down/ |
|
By:
don't mean this flippantly , but wouldn't be surprised if there were riots( apologies if people find remark offensive not meant to be ), hot weather forecast this weekend in london wont help.

She actually said they think this is revenge against Muslims for London Bridge.
Dusty, there are lots of false allegations circulating on the internet specific to every community. Muslim friends have told me that they received messages saying the London Bridge attack was a conspiracy to stop further Muslim immigration, for example. What that person was saying does not surprise me. |

Yeah its daft, doesnt even work logically because the refit of the building was done last year.
Im distancing myself from the comment about certain people believing they are being forcably moved out of the area too, its perhaps kneejerk reactions from people who are very upset at the moment. |

Corbyn couldn't wait to politicise the tragedy while the block was still burning.
Talking about cuts without mention that £10m had recently been spent on refurbishment. |
|
By:
Asking for answers dooesnt mean he was scoring points , sometimes the truth hurts
|
|
By:
yes but what a refurbishment of what exactly? An arsonist couldn't have set up a better job. The stuff just accelerated the whole terrifying shambles.
I want to see arrests from the top of government, then work down. |
|
By:
Politicians always try to score points when asking for answers, it's the nature of the beast.
Ken Livingstone was on an American channel last night (CNBC?) blaming it on Thatcher. Well he would, wouldn't he? |
|
By:
Exactly why I said that Corbyn must be gutted this fire didn't happen a few weeks earlier.
The messiah has all the answers. |
|
By:
those responsible love people asking not to make political points helps them get away with it,its all political end off and needs saying, its political that theres people living on the streets last week no houses, now theres 100,s of housing available in the local area,
as for the blame I,ve told you before my new life motto, when I was a kid I took the word of the lollipop lady as gospel, now you can give me the word of nasa,s number one man and I wont believe a word he says till ive had it confirmed 2 ,3 times other by others, question anything and everything no matter who says it,presume everyone no,s no more or better than you, show me an expert and I,ll show you a fool |

sky presenter remarked at the end of one item that there appeared no one around to be interviewed and that they were lying low!!
haven't seen that clip for a while!! |

you have to admit the tories dont do themselves any favours
However lurid the allegation its always in one's mind that they would be prepared to do anything in the pursuit of money worship ![]() |

Indeed lets do it on the cheap and hope we get away with it , thats the tory way.

By:
look how corbyn conducts himself - he is in amongst them
May has a small selected group to talk to then vanishes although I understand a couple of people who were prominent in complaints about the block were prevented from getting to corbyn by 'volunteers'? |
|
By:
I didnt hear Jeremy say he had any answers , he was only saying lets have the truth out in the open
|
|
By:
Corbyn is in home territory tbf.

fire safety certificates mean jack shoite, next time your in a nightclub, festival, sporting event etc ask yourself if theres a fire in here how will we get out, with great difficulty, in a building with 4 sides with flats spread equally across it htf can everyone have equal access to 1 fire escape, all these safety certs are to minimum standards not maximum in most cases not worth the shoitepaper there written on
in a potash mine near me workers been down to work for years thinking there were safety panic rooms where workers could head for knowing they were safe, after 2 incidents last year it turns out these safety zones were no safer than anywhere else in the shaft |
|
By:
Just seen on tv a promise to re-house them all in the immediate area. As much as they might like to do so, I really cannot see this happening. I rather thought they might demolish, and build luxury appartments for the affuent. We'll see.
|
|
By:
You could bet your arse theyd have sprinklers
![]() But the residents of affluent flats built on site would be lynched I would have thought. |

I,m waiting for a 20 yr old with a beard wearing shorts to mosey up to the sky reporter on a skateboard and when they offer him a lollipop to fook off,he,s going to tell them he,s the safety officer for the whole of london

Corbyn must be gutted this didn't happen a couple of weeks ago Despicable comment. |
|
By:
Just think if that had happened to a private block of flats.
The landlord responsible for the building would be hanging from a lamp post by now. |
|
By:
It shows the double standards that exist between private dwellings and council run property.
|
|
By:
safety bloke on sky said you can google fires in towers blocks due to cladding worldwide and 100,s and 100,s come up,and they paid someone 2.6 million to convince them this was a good idea, cost nowt to google it
|
|
By:
What's Shelter got to say about it?
They never shut up about private rental properties, calling for extra legislation all the time. Where was their voice here, don't they do safety in council run properties? |
|
By:
paid someone 2.6 million to convince them this was a good idea
Well now we're getting to the real reasons the work was carried out. |

Just been reading about this emergency parachute system, bloody parachute or not I would never ever live in a high rise building !
'High-rise office workers and apartments could soon have another option for escaping in the event of a fire or disaster - an 'SOS parachute'. Inventor Morris Shahbazi says his emergency chute can open in 100 feet, far faster than conventional parachutes. He hopes it could soon become commonplace in high rise blocks around the world.' |
