South Farnborough, Hampshire, was the coldest place in the UK yesterday with the mercury dipping to as low as -11.7C.

Elsewhere in the country there were several areas that recorded temperatures of less than -10C. Cairnwell in Scotland was a teeth-chattering -11.5C, Ravensworth in North Yorkshire was -11.4C and it was -10.9C in Frittenden, Kent.

The issue on our tiny island is there are too many of us and we are populate half the island to saturation and half is empty. The infrastructure cannot cope with any issues , snow  ,roadworks , accidents.

Blowing sideways here in East Lancashire . The Beeb forecast last night said no snow whatsoever today..........might as well shut the Met office when the forecast is that cr@p.

Lots of different locations on  the news and apart from the bloke in Edinburgh , none of them had as much snow as there is on my road .
Put food out for the birds and had to do it a further two times as the snow kept burying where I had dug some out.

lots of accidents on road last night before snow as there was black ice

an inch of snow on top of black ice is nasty

gritters struggling last night as temps were so low it wasnt working without traffic flow,

Bit nippy in Sussex. No snow today. Clear blue skies.

Isn't it funny how strangers say hello to each other when there's snow. Happy

case - well, according my BBC app it says 30% chance of snow tomorrow. It's funny down here. Look on a map and you can see why so much nasty stuff can miss. We're a narrow part of the country.

Had 3 or 4 inches in Medway, you are a lucky boy or girl to get a full 8"! oh er missus

Yesterday most people had the day off, no cars moved. Today a few cars moved but not many. It is pathetic. It doesn't help when people do not know how to drive. You see them on TV driving too close and too fast. The lack of knowledge of basic physics or something scientific with an ology is blindin'.

I remember going out with Mrs 'Death in Wisconsin once. A good covering of snow, a minimum of yer average six inches! We drove about 80 miles to a college friend of hers during the day. temperatures plunged to something like -15 to -20C but we still went out for a drink in the evening and the friends husband drove, well he was the local judge and nobody was going to cite him for DUI! He drove just fine. Plenty of people out it was a normal night.

We went home the next da but overnight there was an ice storm. In the morning the roads were glass like but we still ventured home around midday when the sun was up. I did try and warn Mrs 'Death it might be better to wait a day but beinga local she wouldn't have it. The local country road were heavily cambered, I did try and advice her to drive down the middle of the road but she wouldn't have a bar of it.

Anyway we lost control over the brow of a hill. She didn't do anything wrong, it was just one of those things. We slid in slow motion a two ton Caddy with rear wheel drive. I told her to take her foot off the pedals and let it go which she did as we were on a downward slope. Lucky we were in Hicksville and there were no other cars around. Our tank turned 180 in slow motion  over about 60 yards without sound and reversed into the gathered snow by the side of the road. No phone signal. We waited 20 minutes and a pick up came by. They all drive pik ups in the sticks! He had chains, pulled us out and off we went. We tried to give him $30 as a think you but he didn't want it but I insisted with my Emglish accent that I wouldn't be getting any if he didn't take the dough so he smiles and took it and that is the difference between us and them!

We just have no idea how to drive nor when to drive. People who should not be able to walk on a footpath are driving in killing machines. If you can't drive don't! If you got a rear wheel drive stay at home unless you really fancy yourself!

Sorry

There may be an " Ice Storm " tomorrow. If there is be careful. the roads will be like glass. If the temperatures are seriously below zero tomorrow do not drive!

The weather forecasters have it right for once, ours in south tyneside is blizzards and swirling snow flurries, just put the bins out and drifts two foot high against the cars. The roads are treacherous ,especially off the main roads and the skies look full of more tonight.
