Rumsfeld was lambasted for that comment but he shouldnt have been because thats logic in action.
Its true we are all working off a clean slate and the things we dont know are far greater than what we do. But much of what we have worked out is to the credit of those who pretty much gave their lives to a cause of working on problems. Its not easy when you aint given much help |

Our purpose in life is to try and behave, and improve as a species, before we're allowed back to where we originally came from, and are allowed off of this prison planet

ok,lets add a little psychology,if our brain will do anything that we command it to do why not brain wash it and command it on the hour of your death to take you to the heaven that you would like to go to,regardless of it being real or not your sub mind will grant your wish.

I coming round to the view that in the grand scheme of things we are no more important than an ant.....I also like the idea that we are part of an alien race's video game that can be switched off at anytime.

The purpose of life is what we make it.
It can be anything we want, we all have different benchmarks. At the moment mine is to make lots of money, from I can see so do most of us. |
|
By:
I think everybody should have some purpose in life however small
If we have no purpose what is the point of life at all. I wonder that at times. |

Zorro claims to believe in god but rejects religion. Fair enough if true but he continually quotes from the texts of a particular well-known religion and is obsessed with its mythology and spurious predictions.
A complicated chap is our zorro although he appears to have our best interests at heart. |

if you look for god you will find him, anyone who has never looked for him could not possibly find him.
those who have looked for him usually find him,and those who have looked for him and failed to find him have not looked hard enough. who knows he may be inside you and you were looking out,but I assure all that if you look and seek you will find. |

life is no more than a collection of various experiences
try and have more enjoyable, pleasurable and positive ones as you can sentient life on this planet is not meant to exist - we are here only by chance. when that 6 mile wide lump of rock hit this planet 65 million years ago it wiped out the dominant species of the planet and killed everything else larger than a small suit case. millions of years later some fish dragges themsleves out of the sea eventually evolved into monkeys and then to us.how we became sentient is unknown but if that randomn lump of rock had been a bit smaller then the affect wouldn't have been as bad and we would have never existed. had it been much bigger then it would have killed everything on the planet - not even bacteria would have survived and we would have never existed again. this is why life as we know it on other earth like planets is very unlikely. the odds of another lump of rock hitting an earth like planet at the same kind of timing resulting in the same affect are infinitesimal. we is alone boys with a short journey - so enjoy it best u can ![]() |

Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky. Nothing to kill or die for really. Just our naked souls born to further the existence of a species born long ago out of the sea - which evolved sufficiently over time to give us all the most marvelous illusion of grandeur.

ANYONE WHO IS SERIOUS ABOUT THE PERSUIT OF SCIENCE AND TAKES THE PERSUIT UP WILL REALISE VERY QUICKLY THAT THERE IS AN INTELLEGENT FORCE RUNNING AND CONTROLING THE UNIVERSE(QUOTE=A MR ALBERT EINSTEIN IN HIS LETTER TO A SCHOOLGIRL CALLED PHILLIS)
|
|
By:
I could do with a new suit. How much per suit are we talking?
|
|
By:
brassneck, i haven't read the letter, but surely the referral to an intelligent force doesn't necessarily imply an omnipotent "being" that "controls" the universe. That in itself, is a religious inference that most "scientists" wouldn't accept.
Moreover, that our scientific understanding was (and still is) sufficiently incomplete, to explain certain observations. |

I take it you are talking about my spelling crags, its funny how the worlds largest betting organization has'ent got a spell checker on their forum, but it was us ould fellows how pinched and scraped in the old days so that you young fellows would get well educated .
all I had at school was a pencil and a jotter and I learned to put a full stop at the end of a sentence.and that was it. but I still had a million pound in my bank accout before my 21st birthday.so I guess I must have learned something. ![]() |

This is what priests tell you when they have nothing else to offer. Sounds like an invitation to self-hypnosis and delusion. Do you think an omnipotent god would desire anything when he has everything already at his command? |

The argument of the 'leap of faith' is in itself a contrivance since the act of looking is biased towards finding.
Its rhetoric that was used to argue for religion, yet the same religion says god interacted with adam and eve and even used gabriel to explain things. You and I dont get that now apparently because god got the cob on and took his ball home and washed his hands of all those born into original sin that they had no part in. Only to allow forgiveness of the sin that he invented in the first place (what was the creation of the tree of knowledge for if not a trap?) |

Perhaps he just wants to play games, Dusty. If you don't say the proper code words he will condemn you to horrendous torture but remember, he loves you.

The question was "What is out purpose in life"?
Is our purpose in life to take part in this game and avoid the traps set by god? I suppose that depends on who is really setting the trap, god or those humans who wish to manipulate the minds of others. Is it a god who loves you or other humans who love themselves more? |
