Has anyone ever seen brassneck and Culvin in the same room together?
just asking ![]() |

Human Beings have something called a brain, we must use it Zorro.
There are plans to send micro spacecraft to Alpha Centauri, they would be the size of an Android phone. They would be laser accelerated. The secret of interstellar travel, is a means of continual acceleration, up to approaching the speed of light. In a few hundred years we could fully operating robots, which would do everything humans do. It is there if we want it. |
|
By:
If you look at some of the ideas in Quantum Physics we may even be able to cheat the speed of light.
I cannot go into it here, it is to do with integrated particles, not sure I understand it. Human Beings have something no other animal has got, this brain. Not everybody but the cleverest of us have it. If God created us Zorro with a brain, I think he meant us to use it, don't you???? |

You can still believe in God Zorro, it is ok with me

If I have a thousand ideas and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied.
I intend to leave after my death a large fund for the promotion of the peace idea, but I am skeptical as to its results. Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness Alfred Nobel 1833-1896 after inventing Dynamite i think he had a hunch things could go pear shaped |

You are the bi product of the sum of your genes and here to do their bidding.
You are insignificant but collectively make it possible for the gene to live potentially forever. Except the 'other' actions that humans get upto may threaten the game plan and bring it to an early death. You either do the pact of your gene or you betray the deal, either way the gene plots your death in the end. |
|
By:
The fact you are most likely to die later in life is the design of the gene protecting itself.
|
|
By:
That's like saying because we need genes to survive the reason we survive is genes, doesn't make sense.
|
|
By:
No, the gene has one game and it plays it before you are born, it does nothing after that.
The collective conscience is just all the bits given you to defend the gene. It programmes what you are to best survive itself, it doesn't want you to damage it by having kids too late in life. |
|
By:
That's like saying because we need healthy genes to reproduce the reason we reproduce is because of healthy genes, doesn't make sense.
|

Genes change over time. Our genes are the cause of us rather than a different organism. They have no ulterior motive or purpose and will cease to exist when humanity goes extinct.

genes are the mechanism whereby man has free will, not the opposite. Without genes there can be no free will and no humans.
|
|
By:
Genes may have been the only possible way that God could create something, man, that has free will.
|
|
By:
Man has no free will, it's an illusion.
You could break down every action into reason through cause and effect. You decide to stand after sitting for a long period because it starts to become uncomfortable but you don't necessarily think 'I want now to stand' If somebody throws a ball chances are you will make a decent job of catching it without knowing a think about the physics behind gravity or velocity, you subconsciously leaned from your environment but your environment is driven by code essentially. The fact you fit into that environment is down to the 'survival mechanisms' that the gene gave you to carry out its requirement. Much like the human is made up of more cells that are nothing to do with 'you' but work with you for their own goal. |

Humans are shaped by the pleasure principle, not unlike pavlov's dog.
You are rewarded by doing the things you derive pleasure from. You could tell somebody what they were most likely to do next dependent on the amount of data you have on them and that person could rebel and then not do the thing they were predicted to do. But this comes down to fortitude and it is actually proven to be limited. That's why people finally give in to temptation because they can no longer resist because resistance is finite. |
|
By:
I can resist anything but temptation.
|

By:
To rid the world of undesirables.
While drinking BEER non stop. |
|
By:
Because genes are suited to their environment doesn't mean anything, if they were not suited they would not exist and therefore it is pointless to say they exist because of that.

Our brains have evolved to keep us alive and safe from injury long enough to reproduce, not to figure out what reality might be. In that scenario, time is often of the essence and we react before the conscious brain becomes aware of it. The conscious brain ratifies decisions already made by the subconscious.
Most of our decisions have a purpose, the purpose of hunting is to obtain food, the purpose of lighting a fire is to cook it amongst other things. If we can't see a purpose for something then we feel uncomfortable and have to invent one. |

Yes but the question is why do we feel uncomfortable. I don't believe a tree feels uncomfortable when it dies, perhaps it does.
|
|

maybe you should ask it lfc?

it's a miracle we all exist
what's certain our lifetime on earth is minuscule compared to the billions of years ahead of us do I beleive in God? NO do I beleive in another existence after death? YES is life fair? NO |
|
By:
I don't know why we feel uncomfortable lfc, perhaps fear of the unknown.
|
|
By:
oh damn.
i cant go all non PC and accuse you of being mentally ill then......... |

Being uncomfortable not knowing the answers is a natural defence mechanism.
Like not knowing whether there's a predator around the corner or not. |
|
By:
So after 72 posts it's the same answer as the last time someone asked the question. Nobody has a clue.

Scandanavian is right, no one knows anything .

No one has every seen a ghost
No one has ever seen a UFO No one was ever seen anything paranormal No one has ever had a prayer answered No one has ever seen a miracle No one can bend spoons with their mind These are some of the things we do know. |
