wtf are you on about ibrahim?

It's all to do with future innovations/investments regarding the next level of hybrid/ combustion alternative.
This makes perfect sense to me, for the UK to focus on and become the leading light of future innovation. Investing in research and skills to benefit the car industry in the long term. Obviously Nissan agree. |

If there are tariffs that strengthens the most inventive and creative country, that is England. Who would deny that?
dont think there is much demand for steam engines anymore and anyway if there was any tariff would be collected by the government receiving the steam engines. nice try bt obviously deluded. |
By:
that could've been offset if tim berners lee patented the world wide web when he invented it. Then everyone in the world would had to pay england a small licence fee everytime a domain name got registered.
By:
Tariffs will stop inventive and creative people, you could not make this stuff up if you tried.

By:
Nonsense, tariffs have zero effect on a nations creativity, the vast majority of countries would never invent or create anything if left to their own devices. Elton John was English, that's all you need to know.
By:
you must be reading something else ibrahim...you should stick to the koran.
By:
There are almost no inventions or technical and creative and scientific advances that the English were not at the very forefront of, that is a simple fact.
By:
Almost nothing that makes the modern world would exist without the genius of England.
By:
That is why tariffs strengthen, not weaken, the moe creative and gifted nation. That is Britain.
By:
were.....
as in once was a great nation when to came to inventing. |
By:
Yes it is in the hands of the younger generation in Britain, are they as creative and intelligent as previous generations. Those who voted Brexit have faith in Britain they will have to buckle down and stop being so needy. Nothing is so contemptible as neediness.
By:
dont think you really understand lfc.
we dont get the benefit of cash generated from tariffs. we get the benefits if we invent goods no one else can make. tariffs just make it pricier to sell abroad. maybe your trying to say having a tariff actually helps sell goods? if you are please explain lol |
By:
G1 doesn't understand

wish it was in the hands of the younger generation. bt er but as you well know....non eu immigration and companies in particular search for experienced workers abroad. wanting to be educated to a high standard has its drawbacks in this country. fees...living costs etc. you need to be well backed to improve yourself. i think your talking in an idealistic way rather than a realistic one |

I am saying that the country that invents new and innovative products is the country that becomes wealthy. A country does not become wealthy by selling things at the cheapest possible price. That simply drives down wages and conditions and well being of a good and thriving country and economy. Forget about tariffs they are meaningless and are used merely as a means to exert political influence.
By:
Instead of competing on price G1
One has to compete on innovation This actually ties in with the Government commitment with Nissan. |
By:
so zen
are you saying having tariffs increases business? |
By:
A successful country does not need millions of people educated to university level. The vast majority of people can be replaced by 100 , 1000 other people without any effect.
To be s great and successful country only requires about 7 really gifted and talented people. That was never a problem for Britain in the past . |
By:
Tariffs increase thinking outside the box/ innovation G1
Hence evolves business, creating business through new technology. |
By:
Elton John was English, that's all you need to know.
....and when faced with a 90% tax hike on his earnings back in the 70's....he foooked off to america. |
By:
The wealth of Europe over the last 40 years is built on the creative genius of 3 or 4 young men in Californian in the 1970s
They and almost they alone are responsible for stopping the slide into economic chaos , but time is now up |

By:
Steve Wazniak the most important of all
By:
agree to a point but when it comes to peoples personal goals if oportunities are being red taped by prohibitive costs, companies recruiting from other nations etc what are they supposed to look forward to?
a low paid job with high living costs? |
By:
The computer revolution created millions of jobs and great wealth, but it only stalled the decline.
By:
So that is what I am saying. Britain needs perhaps 3 or 4 people that is all. Not millions of people. If England or the US cannot do it who can? Someone has to come up with something revolutionary that creates jobs and wealth.
By:
yes but a missed opportunity that I expressed in my post at 11:24
By:
Opportunities open up through new investment and skill goals, it evolves.
If the skills and are created through the UK education system and technologies are created through UK research then companies will see a UK location as a benefit. The City will be freed up from EU corporatism also, there will be winners and losers G1 but Brexit opens up many more doors with a positive attitude to the challenge. |

They and almost they alone are responsible for stopping the slide into economic chaos , but time is now up wrong on the last bit. europe suffered post subprime...there yer go ibrahim .boom and bust as settled...bottomed out. they have a great platform to grow from. if they get some of their people back from the uk that will only help growth....and hinder us at the same time. think it would be inevitable anyway over time...but dont get why we are pushing the self destruct button now. surely its best to micro manage in the time before that happens and then leave if we are in a position to leave? just waffling on about how inventive we are or how we will e innovative doesnt wash. if the figures dont stack up for companies who invested here they will move anyway....including missan |

Scotland should subsidise the nissan tarriff free deal, via a reduction in the barnett forumala.

What tariff free deal for Nissan?
The conspiracy continues...... |

By:
Can the government guarantee Nissan this
, May says it will be part of the BRexit negotiations. What if Merkel refuses it, does that mean we will have to stay in the EU, not what people voted for is it! |
By:
When did May say that Gery?
And who has said Nissan will get a tariff free deal? |
By:
Greg Clark hasn't said there was any deal for Nissan.
It's been no secret that the UK will be negotiating for tariff free access. Nothing to see here. |
By:
Well it is on the BBC red button
Greg Clark has assured Nissan the UK will be seeking a tariff free access to the EU market for the motor industry. It is on the red button now! |
By:
as part of the Brexit talks
By:
Yes the UK is seeking tariff free access full stop.
This is not an exclusive Gery |
By:
Again it is not a deal for Nissan
