Its the religion of free choice!

Come to our country, & if you don't wear the medieval head wear we'll arrest
you & give you the appropriate punishment.

in the words of Hillary Clinton "if i was in power we would be able to totally  obliterate them/Iran"

But Trumps the dangerous one because he called a woman fat 20 years ago

These women are so intellectually superior to the half-wits that impose the rules... How belittling to be told what to wear on your head to play the game when you are a Chess Grandmaster.

Would they dare demand male chess players to wear a hat?

Men dictating how women behave.  You can see the attraction of this cult.  I wonder what the Guardian's view is of this.

A handy idea for cheating, just need an earpiece to receive instructions from the man in their lives.

what next? women jockeys in the full burqa.

good point treetop, it is open to abuse, a lesser player could easily be
taking instructions from a better player by an ear piece.

My best advice for playing in Iran is don't talk about the bishops and even less so the queens.

That could be open to abuse also maleuk,

a man riding alongside would only need to show the whip & the woman would
probably full off expecting a beating Angry

This is going to be interesting lets hope the players calling for a boycott stick
to their guns, absolutely absurd to try & force this on visiting women,

Surely they should never have been picked to hold the tournament

Nigel Short, a British chess grandmaster, called on the sport’s governing body, Fide, to find a different venue, telling the Times: “The hijab is a symbol of Islamic repression.”

If a Islam loving organisation like the BBC ran the sport's governing body, it would make some sense.

So it could be that the heads of the actual governing body are simply trying to stir up trouble for some reason. And it looks like they've succeeded.

One problem is some Muslim women in our society in our society wear the hijab by choice

But some people say they should not

Bit of a mess all round

I think women should choose their attire as it is decent everywhere

women should dress like women, so that we all know that they are women

is it really too much to ask ?
