The Mail is following Murdoch - tbf she will probably unravel. Gove has a lot to answer for. Maybe May has hidden depths? Sigh.

Andrea Leadsom has said being a mother makes her a better choice for Prime Minister than Theresa May because it gives her a “very real stake” in Britain’s future prosperity.
In highly personal remarks, the mother of three told The Times newspaper she was sure the Home Secretary must be "really sad" not to have children as she suggested that her motherhood status meant she had more invested in the future than her leadership rival. "Genuinely I feel that being a mum means you have a very real stake in the future of our country," Mrs Leadsom said. She went onto say Mrs May "possibly has nieces, nephews, lots of people. But I have children who are going to have children who will be directly party of what happens next." |

Truly appalling and the exact opposite of what I said. I am disgusted.

The bitch who stuck the knife in...
Rachel Sylvester: Privately educated close confidante of Britain’s most influential active Europhile, Peter Mandelson. Accompanied Mandelson on a trip to Disney in America during his work planning the disastrous Millennium Exhibition. Later denied allegations of tipping Mandelson off about revelations concerning him in a biography by the respected political journalist Paul Routledge. An advanced proof of Routledge’s book was mistakenly delivered to Sylvester’s Westminster office and was later passed on to him with the envelope containing it having been opened. |

Daily Mail --hypocrites
The two leaders of the Scottish National Party want to break up the Union because they have no children and do not understand families, it has been claimed. Does seem to be an agenda to get mrs Leadsom, all very predictable and sad.

Is there not a recording of what she said so how is she denying it?
I have not heard the supposed recording but if it's true she has no comeback and whatever way you look at it if she did say that it's a low blow towards May and her partner seen as they could not have children. |
By:
sky news played recording an she said it
By:
Well then i have no sympathy for her, that's a proper cuntish thing to say with May and her partners circumstances
By:
She never said it gave her the edge over May because she was a Mother. Even the journalist admitted that on the BBC this morning. That was the way the Times spun it.Whats wrong with being a mother? They are trying to make motherhood the new black/immigrant... You must never mention it.
By:
There is nothing wrong with being a mother, why is that an issue?
I missed where Theresa May said she should be PM over Leadsom as she has no children |
By:
Its only to be expected this sort of nonsense from the spivs , you now have the filth of Murdoch and dacre squabbling about who should be PM , and next few weeks 130,000 spiv members choosing one of them after all the plotting, lying and backstabbing , what a truly horrible crew the Spivs are.

Mellor putting the boot in now on LBC.Grass roots Conservative Party members will see straight through this and stick two fingers up to the establishment ... Just like they did in Camerons referendum.
By:
It’s terrible how people go around smearing politicians by accurately reporting what they say.
You can't defend Leadsom. Stupid thing to say - she's been found out. Don't blame the reporter or the newspaper. |
By:
See straight through you say Goonthen?
Rachel Sylvester: "Do you feel like a mum in politics?" Andrea Leadsom: "Yes. So... RS: "Why and how?" AL: "So really carefully because I am sure, I don't really know Theresa very well but I am sure she will be really really sad she doesn't have children so I don't want this to be 'Andrea has children, Theresa hasn't' because I think that would be really horrible. "But genuinely I feel being a mum means you have a very real stake in the future of our country, a tangible stake. "She possibly has nieces, nephews, lots of people, but I have children, who are going to have children, who will directly be a part of what happens next. "So it really keeps you focused on 'what are you really saying?'. Because what it means is you don't want a downturn but 'never mind, let's look ahead to the ten years', hence it will all be fine. My children will be starting their lives in that next ten years so I have a real stake in the next year, the next two." |
By:
It is not a problem. All fertile or previously fertile females will look down on May. It is nature's way.
The BBC has it in for Leadsom because she does not agree with p**f weddings. Their agenda might just backfire and as for the impotent Stinker Murdoch he is a laughing stock. |
By:
Only read key parts of this story, not up to speed on it, so she just denied saying what she actually said (?) Or it was a set-up and she didn't mean it as reported.
Difficult to deny it if those are her words on the taped recording, and in the published version if those quotes are exactly what she said, only couple of days into the leadership campaign and she has screwed up horribly. |
By:
"Or it was a set-up and she didn't mean it as reported"
This. Eboue. That is only part of the transcript. |
By:
The recording is here - take a listen - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36752865
Can't defend that surely? |
By:
At this rate Theresa May won't have to campaign at all, just let Leadsom go & sink herself.
By:
Is it the full one hour interview before I click on the link?
By:
Exactly HD2. Media manipulation at its finest. Now everyone is talking about this rather than Theresa Mays abysmal record on immigration in 6 yrs at the Home Office. Territory just nailed in on LBC.
By:
I understand things can get misreported.
But not in this case - she's been found out and she's bang to rights. |
By:
Media manipulation?
The reporter asks a question. The interviewee answers it then when the piece goes to press gets upset. How in the name of Christ is that media manipulation? |
By:
Oh dear.
By:
The worst decision made this century was Germany's opening of its borders to everyone.
It was taken so a politician could feel good about herself, could hold her head high. It was taken by the childless Angela Merkel. |
By:
Not sure which is more of a low blow: trying to smear your opponent for not having children or trying to deny that is what you did.
She's been found out for what she is and there's people out there that want her to lead this bloody country! |
By:
She's been found out to be a Mother? Oh dear.
By:
Do you not think her comments were spiteful?
And is it not concerning that she blames the media for stitching her up when all they've done is accurately report her interview? |
By:
Oh dear, what a nose-dive. She's just taken herself from low credibility to zero. Looks like she'll be having plenty of time to spend with her children in the future. Theresa May must be loving this.
By:
Her comments were not spiteful they were accurate.
She was lead into the topic by the interviewer, she didnt make it an issue just responded in a refreshingly honest way. Angela Merkel Ted Heath. |
By:
there was argument before she said it about mays lack of kids ( it even cropped up on this forum)
so leadsom gets to try the argument then when it bites her back she claims its not what she meant merkel will be looking forward to the negotiations |
By:
Interestingly, both Salmond and Sturgeon have no children, their only legacy will be if they get independence for Scotland or not. That's been the entire focus of their miserable lives, one reason they are so obsessed. Which is why they'll push to the bitter end even if it was disasterous, they've (thankfully) nobody coming after them to suffer the consequences.
A bit like hitler and his scorched earth policy for Germany, but hitler could see at least see over his belly to count his bollocks. (And put peanut butter on for Blondi to lick off). |
By:
Most politicians say they are in it to serve the community. It appears that many of them have other priorities.
By:
leadsom was a remainer when it suited,
seems to me that she might be a sarah palin type |
By:
she is barren..
accursed, let no man vote for her. lest she press the red button and send us to oblivion. think of the children. it comes down to a simple test.. what one looks better in the buff? vote Leadsom. |
By:
Being a mother is a woman's evolutionary role...in fact they want children by instinct.
This has been slightly misrepresented, I don't think it was meant as a dig against barren women or women who choose not to have children. She is ok with me. |
