She's either conniving and spiteful for trying to get one over her opponent in this way or she's pig-sh!t thick for not realising how her words would look once written down.

Or maybe both.

In a month of seismic political events this must rank as the biggest non story ever.

To think The Times led with this story above the carnage in Dallas!

I hope Leadsom sticks it up the BBC if she becomes Prime Minister. I , for one , am sick to death of hearing about Gays, lesbians , transvestites and sex change merchants on R4.

There are more Tory members that voted Leave than not i believe.

The establishment are once again attempting to win a campaign through smear or fear.

Those Leave members will see through all this BBC guff.

Go to the war memorial in your town. Look at the names and look at their ages.

Many of them were teenagers. Statistically, the majority of men who laid down their lives for this country were not yet fathers and never would be.

Anyone who thinks that being a "mum" means you have more of a stake in the future of Britain than those brave young men needs a brain transplant.

TheBetterBettor, there's more than enough evidence that Hitler fathered a child with a French peasant girl during the First World War. When old Adolf started to make a few quid from his books and paintings, she bought a house.

Later, during the second half when France was occupied, SS officers paid her a visit every month and then she paid the grocer's bill.

It seems that one ball is adequate.

Political correctness gone mad.

Of course anyone who has kids has a greater stake in the future.....but having kids or not doesn't effect anyone's ability to do the job.

I think she was just trying to emphasise with those women who do have children and their problems.

The world does not just consist of Gays, lesbians , transvestites and sex change merchants .

I hope it is not considered a crime that people are not LGBT.

Having anybody who can actually do the job will be a change

What the hell have gays got to do with anything? She took a cheap shot at someone who has been unable to have kids by saying it made her less equipped to do the job.

She was going on about this through the referendum debates. Staring the camera with that fixed rictus grin and reminding everyone every couple of minutes that "she's a mother". As if she's as surprised as we are that someone would dip their wick there. Twice.

Comes across as slightly unhinged to me.

The next PM is going to be one of the most important in our history. She'll be taking the job while the pound is tanking, we're facing a possible employment crisis as firms are threatening to leave, we're going to face a migrant influx if anything as anyone thinking about it knows they've got 2 years max to get in and we have to negotiate a host of new trade and diplomatic deals despite the fact we've got next to no experts in these areas as they've been collectively bargained through the EU for a generation. And some are thinking of giving the job to a woman who seems to be amazed she has kids, and is appalled that her words have been written exactly as they were said and not the complete opposite as she lied.

This is not about if the BBC is left wing anxious, and once you give your head a wobble you will think again.

The BBC is pro EU, they want Theresa May - nowt to do with left or right.

PP.The Times article was aimed at similarly easily influenced idiots such as yourself and the clown further up the thread  posting a small fragment of the transcript.
Now for a moment step out of your media polluted comfort zone and imagine the following. AL was offered a chance to give her vision of a post Brexit UK. For well over an hour she gave that vision.Throughout she was constantly asked about how being a mother made her different as a candidate to TM ... Go back to the above transcript and view the journalist asking her "first"  question. Now imagine a couple of seconds before that the journalist for the umpteenth time asking "How do you think your role as a mother makes you any different to Theresa May"? Then take the perfectly honest and straightforward answer given. You might also wish to reflect on the fact that none of her opinions and ideas for a post brexit UK warrant a mention. The journalist had only one brief. Nail her on motherhood. The article was probably written before the interview. Tebbit nailed this on LBC earlier today.

I don't think she did, tells me more about you PP than her.

She was trying to emphasise with everybody people that is all.

People can interpret anything that is said anyway they want. I do not believe it was anti LGBT, but if people want to take it that way

that is their choice. I do not.

Haven't read the Times but have listened to the interview.

Fact is she wasn't misquoted at all and then hilariously tried to claim she'd actually said the opposite which, like much of her cv, was a load of horsesh!t.

She's the one who's been mentioning that she was a mother all through the referendum so it's not ridiculous to 're-visit that theme. If she thought it wasn't relevant why bring it up so often in the last couple of months? It's legitimate to then ask what she thinks the difference is with someone without children.

And, at the end of the day, if she's so daft she got led up the garden path here then it doesn't bode well for her skills in negotiating the best deal for the country. At best she was naive in the extreme. I actually think she knew exactly what she said and actually thought in some way, some people might think it would make the remotsst difference. But then, given the whole quit campaign was a tissue of fast unravelling lies she maybe thinks it's an acceptable tactic.

Boo hoo me for the capacity of critical thought.

Let's just pretend she didn't say it. And then pretend she didn't come out and pretend she'd been misquoted on her "honest, straightforward answer"*. Pretend she didn't say she'd said the opposite which wasn't true at all. Let's pretend the article "was written before the interview"*.

You have no thought. Critical or otherwise. You are spouting what you've been fed. Like most remainers you like lack vision and initiative. You dislike change and are comfortable with the status quo. The more you speak the thicker you appear. Stop while you're losing old fruit.

I'm all for change and the new. New places, friends, cultures. I'd actually be amused by Loathsome getting the gig. She doesn't seem the sharpest so more chance she'll balls it up and we may get a chance to ctrl-alt-del it. Like most quitters you seem to like her purely on the basis she flipped and decided to join the take our country back brigade when she could see how good it could be for her. If she'd been a remainer it'd be 1.01 you'd be denigrating her rather than trying to sweep her latest embarrassment under the carpet. A bit pathetic really.
