Even though Corbyn is allowing a free vote, Labour MPs will still be defying their party’s official position if they back Cameron’s motion.
By:
Yeah, and Corbyn's never defied the party's official position.

there's now a group called 'Overweight Haters' (not a good name) who are giving fatties cards on the underground telling them they're overweight.
The other side reads: “Our organisation hates and resents fat people. We object to the enormous amount of food resources you consume while half the world starves.” “We disapprove of your wasting NHS money to treat your selfish greed. And we do not understand why you fail to grasp that by eating less you will be better off, slimmer, happy and find a partner who is not a perverted chubby-lover, or even find a partner at all.” . http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/woman-handed-card-on-the-tube-from-organisation-which-hates-fat-people-a6754706.html |

Corbyn on a win/win here.
Let them have a free vote so the bombing starts but when it inevitably goes t1ts up he can claim moral superiority and say "I told yer so" |
By:
Seems like some on here are hoping ISIS continue to flourish.

For those that thought or think Iraq was bad this is a different kettle of fish. Incredibly they've glossed it over as some sort of extension of bombing IS in Iraq.
This is another bombing over yet another Middle East country without an invitation to do so by the President of the country, or as that Presidents said there will be Peace in Syria when West ends support for 'terrorists' |
By:
"Now in the middle of the war, I'm not going to say I'm leaving for any reason," he said.
"When there's election, the Syrian people will decide if they want me, I'll be happy to be president, if they don't want me, I'll be happy to leave it, I don't have any problem." Assad |
By:
All this palava and we're only talking about a few planes. It's not going to be WW2 Bomber Command style. It's a token gesture to show we're "doing our bit" and at most we'll be a minor irritation to Isis.
By:
Syria is going to get flattened by a US, French, British coalition. Whether it's one plane or two I don't think Syria will consider it a "minor irritation"
By:
They should be worried when the Europeans talk war. In the end, when everything is stripped away, no one does it more brutally than us.
Gently now ... |
By:
When you add up the sorties flown by Russia and the USA our contribution will be negligible.
By:
Russia are invited there, by Assad. USA and Britain aren't.
By:
What Assad wants is neither here nor there. He doesn't control Raqqa anymore. The Syria he is in charge of is a lot smaller than what conventional maps show.
By:
What about Sirte in Libya then? Bomb that as well ?
By:
Why not.
By:
and the IS provincial government in Mosul?
By:
sorry forgot we've already been bombing that for 12 months
By:
maybe bomb Afghanistan as well so that IS don't get the money from the heroin trade?...estimated at $1 billion a year
...haven't we been there before? |

IS controls most of the oil and gas fields in Syria...if Syria was exporting asparagus nobody would give a sh1t

They are ramping it up on syria. Gloating over the Truman carrier with 70 planes, all our arsenal, the french etc etc etc they are drooling over it. They are adding them all up. You can see the excitement on their faces.
I am getting very excited and dribbling into my porridge. The thought of marching to war again. It makes me want to reach for my old SLR and join in. Oh what a wonderful war. |

NO,
All in all, a six-hour bombing mission in Syria works out at a cost of £508,000. Based on the average salary of each profession per year, that can pay for: – 20 Paramedics – 20 Police Officers – 20 Teachers – 19 Nurses – 18 Fire Fighters – 18 Junior Doctors ----------------------------- During September American Forces launched at least 47 Tomahawk Missiles at a Cost of $1 Million Each Missile. |

By:
“In Libya the bombing operation was quickly extended to military personal being sent in to support rebels fighting Gaddafi on the ground.
The bombing didn’t produce the results the government hoped for, so mission creep ensued. We know that operations in Libya cost up to £1.5 Billion. “I think we can expect similar mission creep in Syria, which will inevitably raise the costs involved.” However, it added the cost of bombing Syria is not why many oppose it. “We oppose bombing Syria because it will not reduce the threat of terrorism – actually, it will increase the threat of terrorism. “What began in 2001 as a war to eliminate relatively small numbers of al-Qaeda terror cells in Afghanistan, extended to Iraq, Libya and now Syria, and it has created chaos wherever it has been extended. “It is that instability and chaos which is a breeding ground for terrorism, and it’s completely mad to think more of the same will produce different results.” |
