Massing, stampeding, beating themselves around the head till they bleed.

A million on the streets of Nottinghill for the carnival every year in tight roads many drunk.  No similar problems.  Maybe a few cans of Red Stripe and a toke would calm them Moslems down.

Aye: ye have to think Jehovah has some sense of humour to give the Arab nation so much oil. Mind you, he gave his own race all the banks..

dont tell betfair about the millions of visitors to mecca each year cos they will probably want to merge with them to increase their share price.

Betfair share price - up 146% on the year.

They've even gone up since June while the FTSE 250 index has gone down.

What a disaster, has this happened before........Oh yeah.......still  lessons will be learned ????. and to be fair the Saudis are probably strapped for cash, so maybe  we should offer aid. The BBC has told  us that there are . FEARS that 'british Muslims' may be among the dead Mnnnnnnnnnn............. well when you engage in the ritual of stoning the Devil, he might actually have something to say about it.

Wesdaq - millions of Christians renounce him every Sunday, and it's orderly in the aisles as far as I know. few space constraints in your average CofE church mind.

apparently this is true at the stoning of the devil you are supposed to throw a stone at the tower. the size of the stone recent years has increased to show your anger at all the wrong in the world, so the younger fitter men can throw bigger and larger stones than normal, and apparently some of them dont take very good aim and when they miss, and with all those people there, someone gets a very large rock hitting them on the head and they end up dead
By:

When: 25 Sep 15 00:30
blackburn - it seems that you may renounce him but just be careful you start chucking stones.

He might pull a stunt.

heres another one all muslims should do the hajj pilgramage to be considered a true muslim

also to die at the hajj pilgramage is considerd to be a great honour in the islamic world as they believe you go to a better place(dont tell them its the morgue)

anyway there are said to be some instigators that like to create stampedes and any deaths caused gives them great satisfaction in sending their fellow muslims to their better place (the morgue)

I caught a woman on the news describing the deaths as the 'will of God' and they were in the hands of their God.

This is simply corrosion of intelligence and anti progressive.

They died because of human stupidity and probability. The patterns are well known and established, they can be recreated easily on computers and predicted.

It doesn't matter how many times they throw this headline at me I really am struggling to give a fk.  Almost at the point where I wanna look up what the world record lives lost at a stampede is to see if the record could be broken.  But I can't even be bothered to do that.

Apparently the Saudi's held up the crowd so that some dignitaries could get there first and be there in peace, more and more people gathered and the inevitable happened when you've got a million people holed up together in a relatively small area. Saudi's are blaming non Arabic speaking muslims for the confusion.
By:

When: 25 Sep 15 12:06
Saudi rulers don't do blame. If anyone dare suggest otherwise they could find themselves at the bottom of the next stampede.

These stones that they chuck, and the size stipulation.

Do they bring there own and test them through a hole, like at the British Post Office, or do they get them from a Stone Wallah.

Seems to me there could be a really good business there, selling accredited stones, and perhaps decorating them in appropriate designs.

Also they could be re-cycled ready for next time!

Doesn't take a genius to work out that a couple of million people (can you imagine 25 x full Wembley stadium!) in sweltering temperatures, many elderly and infirm and all with the intent of chucking small stones at a bigger stone, is recipe for disaster and fatalities are not just likely but almost inevitable.

A ludicrous situation, and regardless of the religious pointlessness of it all, the people or state who organise it should be held accountable as criminally negligent.  It's not dissimilar to a disaster ten times the scale of Hillsborough happening every year but nothing being done about it.  Truly crazy.

I don't think you all get it.

There a small tin can on the top of the stone (hard to see in pics, you have to be there apparently) and the idea is to try and knock the tin can off the stone in 3 throws.

If you do you win a little fluffy devil to hang on the back of your camel.

They should have a memorial service in a couple of weeks and then, no doubt, another memorial service in another couple of weeks,
and so on, till the stampeding novelty wears off!

Probably closer to the truth than many realise, the Hajj has been a money spinner for the saudis over the years.Tourism and rip off merchants taking advantage of the pilgrims, works for every religion.
