If Gaitlin was a horse they would say 'Gaitlin worried out of it'

Bolt ran a good race no doubt. Great start from him and well ahead of Gatlin. Would have expected him Bolt to run away with it from there.
Gatlin hauled him in easily though and then just threw it away. |

It's called a final for a reason. Doesn't matter a didgery if you don't bring your A game when it matters most. Bolt did Gatlin didnt.

Into a headwind. think it was -0.7 m/s or thereabouts. Windspeed adjusted I reckon that's probably the fastest race of all time, taking the average of the first 8 home.

No way; 2009 100 metre final was quicker on average
By:
Gatlin had the fastest following wind in both his heat and his semi. Wind adjusted he was a good tenth quicker in the final than the semi.
By:
2009 final was slower on average wind adjusted. Obv not Bolt, but every other runner was quicker in this
By:
Gatlin was walking in the earlier rounds so no surprise.
By:
Tyson Gay ran 9.71 in 2009. Not sure he was faster today

By:
9.8 (Gatlin)WITH A -0.7 headwind(if it is confirmed) is better than 9.71 with a 0.9 following wind. Adjusted it's roughly 9.745 compared to 9.785
By:
So basically Gatlin is the fastest man that ever lived because he fecked up the start, middle and finish of the race and still ran a time of 9.745 removing wind affects?

Bolt won? Amazing scenes, Bruce!
By:
He certainly did. My bank's been credited with the 3.65 I took him at.
Lost my bet on a new world record being set tho. Alle ist Gute ![]() |

I've read some bo!!ocks on this forum but.... ![]() Bolt is the fast man to ever live, Usain Bolt is on another planet mentally as well as physically to all the other athletes. |

Bolt had the faster start and Gatlin bottled the finish, yet you claim Bolt was faster in the middle of the race
Think about it while you are waving at buses ![]() |

ilikewavingatbuses NAILS it when he writes Bolt has the MENTAL edge.
It's all about CROSSING THE LINE! |

"bottled the finish" - not seen the race yet, but what a strange statement.
How can one "bottle" an achievement? |

Bolt was ahead before the lean. Don't think the lean cost him any time as the margin of victory was only 0.01 secs and with the naked eye it looked bigger. Even on the freeze frame it looks about 0.03 secs As for the start, Bolt didn't mess up. Gatlin didn't either. They were virtually neck and neck over the first 30-40 metres just like 2013.
By:
Gatlin was ahead at 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 metres 80 and 90 it closed slightly and in the last 10 Bolt went ahead
By:
With the over head shots she can see who is first to each of the 10 metres marks on the track. You can't tell with the side view shots and the BBC line that someone drew across the runners on a freezed shot wasn't straight. It was bias to lane 1

Few extra bets.
Dafne Schippers @ 12/1 in the Women's 100 metres - very overpriced. Amel Tuka @ 6/4 in the men's 800 metres. Will have too many gears for Rotich & Rudisha in what will likely be a tactical race. |
By:
Schiffers running very well. Got the worst possible lane draw in the final, although she always comes from behind so mebbe it won't bother her
By:
Still 10/1. Will struggle to beat the wee Jamaican, but will medal minimum.
By:
lol at that. American girl put her hands up to celebrate 3rd and her team mate came through to catch her on the line
By:
Schippers slept. Would've won with a decent start.
By:
The others will have to go some to catch Schippers in the 200m
By:
This is some 400m. Would have thought they'll have to run 43.7 to win it, although one can never be sure how much two rounds, especially two rounds as quick as these have been, will take out of them.
By:
I'd take any price I could get that 6 or more of the 400m finalists has used PEDs
By:
Sadly zazu, so would I.

comedy long jump final going on. no jumps galore and rutherford just about the only one of the main contenders to register any sort of decent jump. odds on favourite among those to have an absolute mare
By:
All going off in the long jump. Rutherford should waltz to victory now, 4 medal hopes including fav didn't make it into the second round
![]() |
By:
If one of the Chinese jumpers gets it right then could jump further
By:
1.57 for the last 800 metres there.
Absolutely insane. |
By:
should be GSM rutherford with that jump

Steve Cramp done his nuts there...
