Is there not a medical phone line where you could at least describe the symptoms or can you not even get a call back from your own doctor? (I know mine does)
By:
Try to just eat small meals till you can get to see a doctor is the best I can offer.

My doctor retired 3 months ago and im told my new doctor is now dr akthar and shes busy. Sounds like a game of hide and sikh. Cheers crags

period pain imo
By:
were is the pain exactly
By:
Left hand side near the bottom of the rib cage at first then spreading to my back
By:
interesting.
i had that last year. the colon that side was making noises along with the stomach. not sure what the problem is yet but i had to reduce my diet to cut out a whole list of foods milk etc and slowly re introduce them back. its a long process and only found milk and animal fats to be a problem...small amounts of animal fats are ok i think |

I strongly suggest you make an almost immediate appointment with your doctor, dial 111 for advice OR present yourself at your local A & E. It may be nothing, but the pain spreading to your back is not a good sign. If it was on your right side it might be appendix. If you feel a lump that that be repositioned by massaging it, it could be a hernia. It does NOT sound like either. DO SOMETHING,-in this case I am not joking!

By:
wasnt getting the back pain but the rib cage has been doing that for a couple of years on and off.
By:
I work in IT but I'll have a go. have you tried turning yourself off and then on again?
By:
if you do find out prep let us know on here.
just incase my doc was way off. |
By:
My local A&E is normally a minimum 5 hr wait
so planning on riding this out on minimal food for the time being. If it gets that bad i will go down there. Cheers for your replies and i will update when i know more. |
By:
You should get this investigates ASAP! At least dial 111 to get it assessed. They will give you an indication as to how urgent it might be.
By:
Persistent stomach problems or changes in bowel habits that last over 3 weeks indicates investigation is required. That all from me on this subject.
By:
can't get seen by a doctor? what a surprise (see my GB joke of a country thread).
BTW, A&E is best option. I had a similar incident a while back. |
By:
You've certainly come to the right place for advice, we're all hypochondriacs here.
By:
AFAIK back pain that isn't on your spine (the normal place) is a concern, it can be symptoms of worse things inside.
I had back pain on one side and was speaking to a pharmacist about it and she talked me into going to a doctor. (Thankfully I was OK, it was the awkward way I was caryying all the money I win on betfair to the bank )Seriously though. |

By:
When you next go to the toilet check that there's no black bits in your crap this could be blood. If there is make an emergency appointment to see a doctor.

If you had said the pain was on the right( under the ribs) I would have had no hesitation in suggesting you have gallstones. All the symptoms you highlight indicate gallbladder problem. Other symptoms for stones being trapped in bile duct are, nausea, retching, pale faeces and dark urine. |
By:
how much do you drink?
By:
A lot more than i should probaly DStyle, cheers facts but pain is on the left.
By:
put me life on gallstones, pains are same symptoms i had.you have my sympathy
By:
Blood in faeces can be down to an ulcer so don't immediately
think the worse. |
By:
From what you describe it could be pancreatitis.
Stop drinking alcohol, listen to Dr Slicer and see your GP now. |
By:
The popping plus the pain after eating suggests possibly intestinal spasm you can get over the counter remedies. Buscopan? Or of course it could be pancreatitis, ulcer, gallstones. All sorts of horrible complaints. A doctor is the answer .
By:
Bloke had similar kind of thing at work last year, I went to his funeral in January. Get down the A&E asap.
By:
Wind, stones or possibly heart trouble.
By:
C'mon prepared83, what's the status on your problem ?
By:
If as you say that the pain starts as a dull ache and then becomes a pulsing, stabbing pain in the lower left side of the torso, it is probably kidney stones. In which case you really have got a treat in store.

Update lads, still not been to the doctors/been looked at. Have eaten minimal food since last on here, only had biscuits and the odd packet of crisps. One thing i have noticed is that when i go for a number 2 it feels as if i havent finished??? If that makes sense. Also urine seems to darker then normal. Havent had any alcohol since i was last on here either. Finally another thing that i have noticed is that i seem to be burping/passing wind more than usually as well but is a bit of a struggle to pass wind. Sat here now and theres still a slight dull ache in the left hand side. Still booked in to see the doc on weds

Left hand side near the bottom of the rib cage at first then spreading to my back
I had very similar pains recently which got worse for about a month , until it got so bad that i thought I was having heart attacks ![]() eventually I had an ECG done to check my heart & the nurse prescribed me Gaviscon for simple heartburn & after a few days it wore off , but am still not sure it's something worse (like gall stones as mentioned) but the anxiety is my real problem think I need some meds as my heart just races so bad it's scary !! |
By:
Told me my heart was fine though which was my real worry , but I'd def grab a bottle of heartburn liquid from the local Asda if I were you !
I've also been taking lots of vitamin tablets & iron , which seem to of helped slightly ![]() |
By:
Im already on omerprazole for acid reflux pal, might be linked to that but i doubt it as this pain is different to anything i've had with that before
