Most don't know how to play Kenny Excited

Min cashed in the $500 77 v AQo big stack v big stack, out of a few others, haven't cashed in a €5 Big Win SnG which is bad but not unusual. Not a great night so far but the night is young and it's a game for the long term.

Most don't know how to play.

I got ko'ed with AQ on an AQ6 (1 heart) flop by 85 both hearts.
Second hand so nc in chip stacks 2k. Blinds 20/40.
We ended up all-in on the flop with a 4 on the turn and a 7 on the river.
Cant remember the way of it but I raised he reraised I reraised again and he shoved.

Rebuy stage is gambling, you gotta gamble to get a stack so when the rebuy stage ends you can bully Excited

Still playing but -£20+ Tbe €5 Betfair games are losing it for me but it's a volume game.

I caught the Mtt buzz this last month with TCOOP although didn't cash in one
but are kind of addictive & got me playing a lot more Sats & Mtt's in search of one Big score
I've min cashed in a fair few but nothing worth playing the hours then regressed a bit to MttSng's & binked a few dollars back but have to quit the Mtt grind for a while .. more fun but you end up just feeling like a degenerate gambler Crazy

Gl Ovalman .. take a few shots now & then imo Happy

Tournies are just too tough to win nowadays

I've watched a bit of Pokerstaples , he seems ok but is super Overconfident for a kid & think he'll go broke if he keeps playing 1k worth of Mtt's per day , but gl to him
By:
Ovalman.
When: 08 Feb 15 23:59
Deeper thing with Pokersaples is you can identify things where he makes mistakes and you make mistakes. You can compare his game to yours.

He may seem raw but he's OK and won't go broke.

It will get harder for the regs but it works both ways.

I'm not saying he's a bad player he's fairly decent
I admire his confident mindset but he's playing outside his roll (even if he bangs on about bankroll management) imo
Interesting to follow though I tend to just listen rather than study his play

would like to make the switch to a full time Mtt grind if I could as it's at least more interesting but so many are playing staked & are next to broke that it doesn't fill me with confidence .

I did try the Jivaro Hud though Cool

I opened an Unibet account for a Holdem Manager add on but I didn't bother depositing and playing it through. I'll check it out as I like going for achievable promotions.

One thing I do go for is site specific promotions. Stars for instance gave $7 of Spin and Go tickets for a $15 deposit. I took up the offer, only won $4 from the tickets but also won $3 in the daily challenge. I withdrew $15 out again and will take up the next deposit offer they make. It's only $7 of free money but it all mounts up over the year. Paddy Power have a free bet freeroll. Top 25 get a free bet for making a "deposit" each week. Usually 300 runners but it's a really soft field. I've won £45 of free bets this year, I lay the bets off on here via matched betting and get around £35. To "deposit" you only need transfer funds between sportbook and poker site. All these small bonuses, rake back and added cash double my profits each month.

I-Poker has crashed and I'd 7 tables open Cry I'll get refunded or I'll kick up a stink but I was running well in all tourneys. Even despite the crap software and crashes, I prefer it here compared to Stars. The games are far softer and whale filled. When was the last time you seen an overlay or added tourney on Stars? I played in 4 games tonight on Betfair that each had an overlay.

When: 09 Feb 15 21:56
I think you should consider Arbing sports instead Ovalman .. you'd be absolutely Ruthless Devil

Stars do have overlays sometimes but not where you'd be expecting to look for them
I played a 5,000 vpp ($80) satellite to the TCOOP main event (100 seats guaranteed) and there were effectively 21+ Free seats worth $700 each .. but you have to be in it to win it !

I only just bubbled or I'd of been playing the Main event Plain

I looked at that promotion King and it doesn't interest me, I think those that reach 500 points quick are decent grinders or higher stakes players so the freeroll your aspiring too may not be so easy. Good luck though.

What did take my interest was the £500 freeroll for placing a £10 bet. There was only 48 runners in this weeks tourney which makes it over £10 value. I'll maybe take this up and lay off on here for an acceptable loss. The game may well be full of punters that like a gamble, I think there's a lot of value in that game and I might just deposit to take advantage of it.

I-Poker has had problems all week, which reminds me as I've had no refunds. Kick up a stink if you feel you're shat upon.

In fairness to Betfair, their a decent company and will refund if you have problems.

got the bag. cost me 4,500 points. pretty small and unimposing but works for gym etc.

anyone got to the 3,100,000 points needed on stars for a free Porsche Cayman? the mind boggles.
By:

When: 14 Feb 15 23:22
by the way, to get those points I played easily 100 hours of 3 table 1,2 dollar zoom on stars. wanted to give it a proper bash. Ended up with just over 7,000 points so probably paid some decent rake.

I was actually up about 300 dollars overall before getting the hump with it (because that's 3 dollars an hour Crazy).

I've had my first losing week of the year on the tables but I've made up for it by laying off free bets won from previous weeks. My volume has been horrendous, I'm playing only 1/3rd of what I usually play. I need to motivate myself a bit more, I certainly suffer from Mental game issues at times.

I've been playing 13 years (since Betfair Poker opened) and never had a losing year but I came from a freeroll background and turned freeroll money into decent bankrolls, treated myself and then started over. I still only play low stakes but it's usually because I'm bankroll restricted. I lifted £300 for instance for car insurance a couple of weeks ago which hurt my bankroll but it means I can't play higher stakes for the immediate future. I'm a nit and I'll admit it. I'm an OK player but listening to the likes of Gripsed and JamieStaples I know I've still so much to learn.

http://i62.tinypic.com/70wf4i.png

This years graph, you can double it when you add in the rake back, bonuses, free bets, promotions and small things like the depositing $15 for $7 worth of tickets - they do add up. As I said I take what I can from a site, that's why that freeroll for a £10 bet made my ears pick up Excited

Pokerstars VPP system only becomes value when you hit Supernova. I think your much better staying elsewhere with a rake back deal until you either have the volume or reach high enough stakes. I've an 11% ROI on Stars in 9,000 games but I don't like the site. The software and support may rock but there's just never any value or overlays, the MTTs are too huge and every table including micro stakes are filled with decent regs. I'll be honest, I don't make money by being good, I make money by playing bad players. A €10 game on Betfair is the same standard as a $1.50 game on Stars and I've played both enough times to compare. I just can't do it on Stars, my biggest Sharkscope tracked win is $150 although I've won a few private tab games for more. In comparison I've had many +€1k scores on I-Poker so you can maybe understand why I prefer it elsewhere.

I've currently 1500 points on Stars. The satellites which you can convert into T$ are the best value but I much prefer spending them on something tangible as the merchandise is top notch. I've been told if you play one of their live games like the EPT, they give you all this stuff for free Wink

If you want to make it at high stakes or volume then Stars is the only choice but if your a low stakes player, go elsewhere, you just have to look around. The only value I've found on Stars is the Premier League. There's $50k of prizes for the top 500 players. It requires 150VPPs per month to cash decent in the League but the value far outweighs the rake needed to generate it. My only problem is I don't play Stars enough to generate such a small amount Plain

Tonight I'll have the same sort of schedule as last week. I'll switch to full ring STTs as I didn't have a great week at the Jackpots.

$3 an hour is pretty decent when you consider 2/3rds of all players lose in the game. Not everyone can turn over a regular profit so don't knock yourself.

Good luck at the tables.

Betfair has the One Night Stand and Welcome $150 both for €1 buy in (they are rebuy tourneys, I certainly am prepared for a few bullets but I go for the win, if your low in bankroll I'd play ultra tight and not rebuy/ add on, you'll min cash a lot more but you should profit this way). What makes them both good is they usually have an overlay (an overlay is like adding money to your buy in). Any overlay is always good for you. The $150 Welcome is open to all, not just new player and the total buy ins are around $100 while the game pays out $150, that's $50 of added money in the game. It's also a very deep payout and easy to cash. I usually play both.

WH has the Super series but it's hit and miss whether there's an overlay. The Freebet freeroll is decent but you have to "deposit" the previous week and earn 10 player points which is equivilent to a handful of micro stakes games. The 10 points keeps the numbers low and again a deep payout that's easy to cash. To "deposit" you only have to swap funds back and forth each week, you don't actually have to deposit into WH.

Paddy Power has a Freebet freeroll with similar conditions but you don't have to generate anything. Numbers are in the high hundreds and it only pays top 25 but it's still worth it as the field is poor. The also have a nightly "Pantsdown", play 2 and it gets you into a $1k freeroll on a Friday and a $250 added second chance of $1.10 both low numbers. As above, any added is good for you. Paddy's also has a $1,000 added for $11 buy in on a Friday. I've never actually deposited on PP, they gave me a free $5 without depositing and I spun it up to play the $1k added game (which was my main reason for joining the site Cool) They've also a cashcard for their shops so you don't even need to deposit anything to withdraw.

Boyle has a €1,000 added for €22 on a Friday. Another good game, 100 runners although I've no bankroll on Boyle atm to play it.

Stars has the Premier League, a freeroll league although you have to qualify for it which can be hard and need to earn 150VPPs to cash in it. Not so freeroll but massive value if you manage to get into it. Stars also has the Pokercast, $500 added for $1.10 but with numbers around 300. You have to listen to the Pokercast Podcast to find the Password. I'm not into sharing it as I like the low numbers. The game isn't always NLHE but the variants make the game interesting and good experience to play.

If your skint as I was for many years then just play freerolls. There's no value on Stars but there is elsewhere. Some site's like 888 and Paddy Power give you free start up money, it's easily doable but you have to play as low a stakes as possible to start off with so as not run the risk of going broke. On PP for instance there are 10c games so that gives you 40 or so buy ins to play with.

That's some of the games I play, they certainly help me profit. Hope that helps you.

both interesting posts Ovalman and some good pointers. We've all formed our little poker chit chat community. hopefully not pssed too many people off.

pretty impressive to have had your first losing week.

i'm a sucker for the high runner MTT's with big pots and can't seem to get excited by Ipoker's MTT schedule. Probably a bit short sited I think.

By the way neworder69, the on line series of poker comes round every quite often in various guises on various sites. often called TCOOP or SCOOP for googling i think. You can satellite in for the more expensive ones or they have a micro (low stakes) series. Some decent prizes on offer for small buy ins - usually run nightly over a week or two.

I love deepstacks but they can go on for ages, especially on Stars. If you late reg then you could be missing out on spots where you could accumulate chips.

I've had a +€70 day so that's wiped out my losses for the past week and got me back in profit, I tightened my game up a bit and the results showed. I lucked out plenty of times but sure there are many times when you make correct decisions and it goes against you. Sure it's all luck anyway Grin

Reason i ask is im going to start to play on betfair as it has a decent selection of small stake mtts don't like stars. Under the site settings what file is holdem manager picking up for ipoker. Also do you know where betfair poker saves hand historys. Im having problems setting up the hud. No problems on 888/stars. Holdem manager auto selects the file. I think my problem is finding where betfair is saving the files. Thanks for your help.
By:

When: 18 Feb 15 17:58
1. make sure your saving hand histories on Betfair (Settings/ System/ Store hand histories locally). Play a couple of 1c/ 2c real money hands or a 10c SnG to get a couple of hands into the database

2 Try the auto detect.

I also think it depends on your operating system, try:

C:\Poker\Betfair.com Poker\history

or

C:\Users\*your username\App data\local  and have a rummage in the sub folders (some of my I-Poker skins are stored here)

Also, make sure you folders aren't hidden. To unhide follow this :

    Access the Control Panel. ...
Type "folder" into the search bar and select Show hidden files and folders.
Then, click on the View tab at the top of the window.
Under Advanced Settings, locate "Hidden files and folders." ...
    Click on OK.
Hidden files will now be shown when performing searches in Windows Explorer.

Other than that I'm sure you'll find a few threads on the HEM forums about I-Poker or if not then ask a question yourself.
