a nice heads up for you guys

Deposit $100 on stars using the code 9MILLION & you'll get a free $33 satellite ticket to the Sunday 9Million tomorrow Cool

Don't have to play the money , just withdraw it 2 days later

Now stop you're bloody moaning Ovalman Happy
Report Ovalman. • March 7, 2015 6:10 PM GMT
N1 McMoon, will deffo take advantage. I do the Stars deposit thing all the time and withdraw just for a promo. I'll take that shot Crazy

The $9M was put back because tomorrow is Woman's day lol, don't get exited just yet Excited
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 6:22 PM GMT
I thought you'd like that one Wink can't moan at a free $33 ticket , no other site really does that but stars do contribute to the Big Events like Scoop etc , though they don't do the deposit bonuses like they used to , which was basically giving Regs a free $200 per time , site is just so tough lately though shouldn't be as it's full of absolute Morons Scared

Hm Hmm Ladies day hey Mischief
Report Ovalman. • March 7, 2015 6:37 PM GMT
My major gripe with Stars is there's never an overlay or added tourney but when you reach Supernova or better then it's the only site to play. I took advantage of the last Spin and Go deposit, I got $7 worth of tickets - only got $4 from the tickets but it's free money just like the $33 which I will use. I withdrew my deposit along with a small profit, hey it all counts Wink

As you hint at, they should do more play through promotions. I play the Pokercast every week on Stars and they used to give a $50 playthrough bonus for 300 points. I'd grind Stars to release my bonus, it encouraged me to play. Now all I do now is deposit, wait a few days and withdraw. My deposit doesn't even get mixed up with my funds as it's kept in a different currency.

I'm loving it on Betfair. I-Poker realises they can't compete with Pokerstars on volume so they offer the casual gambler good promotions. It's far better here until you reach the stakes or volume for Supernova on Stars.
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 7:38 PM GMT
as you say if you play to make anything serious then stars basically control the market , though many games seem to be dying
I've been Supernova for 6 years but as games are just unbeatable at higher stakes now I'm finding it tougher & tougher to keep grinding sng's every day just to make vpp's up

I play a lot more sats & Mtt's now as I see it the only way to try & hit big scores & know I'm good enough to take them down when I get my chances

I'd like to just play Mtt's full time as it's what I enjoy (hate sng's) but it can get a bit soul destroying when you're not winning anything , just losing gradually day by day Blush

Have a lot of respect for guys like staples for their positive attitude when on -20k downswings , he had a few big scores last week or so watched him heads up in a Big but just got bad beated like 10 times in a row !

Can I ask McMoon, do you work on your game?

The reason I ask is that players evolve and all learn the same strategies.
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 8:21 PM GMT

Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 8:24 PM GMT

do you listen to the midstakes living Podcasts Confused
Report Ovalman. • March 7, 2015 8:37 PM GMT
Doggcatcher is my podcasting software but it doesn't pick up all podcasts so no. I'd like to listen to it but I hate clicking on links and Doggcatcher does the job for me.

Idiots could be playing to your weaknesses, something like folding to 3 bets too much which I'm starting to defend Blush
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 8:47 PM GMT
Nothing you can do if it's allin equity & happens to me whatever games I play , so players don't know me apart from my regular sng's

Here have a listen some of them are quite interesting

http://www.tournamentpokeredge.com/midstakes-living/

You should only really be re-shoving on 3 bets if you think you have value to do so & not just doing it randomly with stuff like A7
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 9:11 PM GMT
Obv depends on the situation , but will it be long term +ev

Lots of the time they'll have AK
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 7, 2015 9:51 PM GMT
if you're talking about just flat calling 3 bets then Positio is a major factor , but obviously they're 3 betting with Position , so how will your hand play post flop , you have to think the move through before you actually play it Wink
Report Ovalman. • March 8, 2015 3:45 PM GMT
I have certain players who know I steal wide, in turn they 3 bet me more because my fold to 3 bet stat was prettty high. If I know a player is doing this then I'll tighten my stealing range and either flat or 4 bet more. Every hand is situational but there are times I'd 4 bet shove even with stuff like A7o. It requires a high number of stats and how a player plays (and sometimes it backfires) but it's one way a HUD can be useful.

I can't find that deposit code anywhere on Stars? I've been told it only applies to those that got the email Cry

Not in the mood to play today but I'll still register for a few games like the Pokercast that have value attached to them. I've a few €1 tickets to use up, more freebies which I love Grin

I missed it, not fussed anyway as I'm running bad but if the offer is still on until next Sunday I'll take advantage. If not I'll deposit on King of Dubai's site and work through a first deposit bonus.

Best result of the night was a 5th in the Welcome €150 GTD, AA v JTs against the chip leader on a J high flop (runner, runner flush), there was a big overlay tonight. Running below EV today and made a small loss but winning that AA win's me that tourney, my opponent made the mistake and not me.

Years graph - rake back, bonuses and other added things like my 10 x €1 free tickets so it's a lot higher: http://i60.tinypic.com/2lk6zcw.jpg, 27% ROI for the year in 656 but my biggest losses have been in the €20's. I think my shoves are OK but I really must work hard on my ICM calls, then again it's only a small sample.

Layed off a £50 free bet yesterday for a £36 net profit. Those free bet games really help and don't show on the graph but Betfair is great to lay them off. That's my last free bet but I'll win more. Decent pocket money but I know if I were more dedicated and grind a lot more, I could do a lot better.

That's me finished for tonight, gonna watch assaninato on Twitch.

I'd play anything from a freeroll to €20 although the latter is just shot taking as I'm not bankrolled for them. I played 3 last night, winning my first and losing the other 2.

I played 35 x €5 Jackpots today along with the Betfair games. I thought overall I played OK although I'm aware of a few mistakes. I made a small loss but that was caused towards the end, losing my last 6 tourneys, bubbling 2 thanks to other players hitting with rags. Counting rake back and a bonus cleared I made a small profit. I've a free trial of SnGWiz which I'll look for my ICM decisions but I think I'll play another 5 before bed.

I'm happy at what I do McMoon, I make good pocket money and all at low risk. I've came from a freeroll background and that's probably why I'm a nit but I love the game.

Read an interesting article about table selection and variance, it's so true and I think table selection is probably the best thing you can do to help your win rate: http://jhub3000.livejournal.com/84368.html
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 9, 2015 10:35 PM GMT
that's fair enough mate I don't knock anybody's hustle & glad you enjoy the game though it'll never be what it once was & a lot of pro's have quit which shows just how tough it is nowadays

wish I could just play for pocket money but I'd need another income for that , what do you do btw

you listened to the podcasts then Wink

they probably have more meaning to me as are mainly all old school stars pro's
Report Ovalman. • March 9, 2015 11:31 PM GMT
I listen to a lot of Podcasts, not just poker but I can't find that feed on my Podcasting software. I'll download an episode after I've listened to my usual batch later in the week.

Played 3 and won 1 so it put me back in profit, decent volume but only 2% ROI, not a great night TBH.

Yes but requires the right connections on both your laptop and TV. The resolution is also dependant on your TV though so may not give you a good picture. I have a tablet running on my bedroom TV, it's better than using the tablet itself but not as good as my PC on my 22" monitor. You would be better asking on another thread for info.

I still haven't deposited on Unibet so good luck tonight.
Report Ovalman. • March 12, 2015 6:29 PM GMT
It depends on what connections are on your PC and TV. I was about to type a long reply but done a Google, this has everything you need: http://www.wikihow.com/Connect-PC-to-TV. All laptops I've ever had have had VGA out and most TV's from the last 10 years have VGA in so it shouldn't be too hard. The more modern your laptop and TV, the easier it becomes.

My tablet has Micro HDMI out and the TV has HDMI in, it's just a matter of buying the right cable/ adapters.
Report Ovalman. • March 12, 2015 6:32 PM GMT
I-Poker is running like a Pigs arse today hogging up 60% of my CPU, it's went like this before and it makes the software unusable. On a thread on 2P2, I notice others are having the same problem. I won't be playing much tonight Sad
Report Mc Moonbeam • March 12, 2015 7:19 PM GMT
King you can connect a tv to play no problem but no modern televisions are close to having the high resolution of modern day pc screens so would still be kind of Blocky , you'd be better off buying a new 27" screen if you'd like to multi table more .
I'm not an expert on screen resolutions but basically all it'd mean was that you could take a more lazy approach Happy

I did that King of Dubai when I was about 21. Pulled a very fit friend of my brothers after a heavy nights clubbing and ended up back at her digs in Tottenham (yes ironic I know).

Passed out when I got out of bed, fell on her t.v. and knocked it over. When I came round it literally took me a minute to remember where I was. She had a tizzy about the tv, didn't give a monkeys about me.

Paid for a repair in a shop in Southgate. Didn't see her again.

Got in touch with Unibet and got credited with a £10 free cash ticket (I was gonna deposit BTW). I'm not a cash player but I see the field is really bad and I think I'll profit from the freebie. Thanks King.

I finished 2nd in the racehorse tourney and "won" a €30 ticket but used the ticket and lost so still a net loss Cry

Losing again at the €20's on I-Poker but winning at the €5 Jackpots. My €20 record is horrendous but I like the format and I think I could do well. There are some very good players like Elky but it attracts the whales but I'm starting to think I may be one of them Sad I'll still take shots until I'm established but will never go broke.

In the Maui's I've had an 8% week so all is not lost but to win 5 in a row is almost impossible but the games are whale filled and the jackpot hit's from time to time and I've won 5 in a row before on the Pokerchamps brand.

Excellent mate Cool

What do you have to do to win the promotion , win 4 in a row , how many players etc  Confused
Report Ovalman. • April 3, 2015 10:03 AM BST
Yes win 4 in a row.

They are 12 man games, starting 2 tables of 6. 25BBs starting stack and a turbo structure but there's still room for a bit of play. They are higher rake but they attract the fun players. I play them more because my ROI is 10% and I get 30% rake back than the jackpot which is an added bonus. Luck play a very important part though, a few of these games I was pretty lucky, one of my winning hands was a K2o shove against 99 that would have crippled me. On the other hand in the game where I finished 12th just after the 4 wins, I shoved the turn with QQ on J449 board and villain called with A8o to spike his A - They can and do call you down with anything.

The €5 Jackpots have 3 or 4 regs in every game but you have to win 5 in a row. They are 10 man STTs, good for rake back but my ROI is 5%. Counting the jackpots, I think the €2 games are better value. The jackpot in these gets pretty high though and it does get won from time to time.

€20 and €40 jackpots are 6 man STTs but are totally reg filled. You have to win 6 in a row which is pretty hard, especially against some decent regs. There's also a small clause where you can't play the same 6 players in any 2 games for a jackpot and the player pool is a lot smaller. My ROI in these is pretty bad but I've only a sample of a few dozen this year. They would be good for rake back if you can eek out a small profit. I'll set aside a small part of my winnings to take more shots and hopefully get established but I'm happy at €2 and €5 atm.
Report Mc Moonbeam • April 3, 2015 12:21 PM BST
You always get more donkeys the lower stakes you play but tbh that sounds relatively easy for such a large jackpot from $2 games , at 20% rake that's how they make their money though but I wouldn't care too much as I'd only play for jackpots (how many can you win) Happy

5 in a row makes it a lot trickier so seems you're playing the right games

I've been playing a lot more 6 max myself lately & although it's frustrating I seem to enjoy it & get more volume in but winning 6 in a row's almost impossible !
Report Ovalman. • April 3, 2015 5:40 PM BST
I've a large enough sample now to know that they are profitable, even with the 20% rake. I don't think there's a limit but I-Poker are making a profit or they'd change the promotion. I've came close quite a few times ie. 2 wins, a 4th and another win or 3 wins and a nowhere etc (I had 2 wins, a second and another win once, didn't even realise until after how close I was). but only won it twice. I'm probably one of the better regs but they wouldn't be paying it every week (Only 34c rake per game, the maths wouldn't add up). There are a few regs but most are Eastern European rake back wh0res playing break even at best. I think it sounds a lot easier than it actually is McMoon, my QQ hand above is a great example, I played it perfectly and the donkey still calls 3 outs to hit. If it were in a game in between the 4 wins then it would be another hard luck story.

4 in a row is the most I've done which sort of puts me off the €5 Jackpots. It's now €29,000 (started at €10,000, then +€5,000, +€4,000, +€2,500, +€1,500 and finally adding €1,000 per week.) It's been 10 weeks since it was last won. I've noticed when it gets big like this then the €20 players drop. Still, someone wins from time to time and if you can make a small profit then the rake back and other bonuses might make it value. When I compare €2 to €5 I think I've a far better chance of the €2 Jackpot but it would only take 1 x €5 win to change my thinking Excited

Plenty of games going as you note King but the software is clunky and horrible for a reg. 10 tables is the most I can play but only for a short amount of time. Tables don't automatically close and registration can be a nightmare, games go missing, HEM struggles and the software crashes. I think it puts a lot off the site (just look at the threads on the poker forum) but that's why I like it, it keeps decent players away. That could also be a good thing for you King on Unibet as players like me that play 6 tables with a HUD can't do so. There would be very few good regs at low stakes. I've noted the softness of the cash games and I'm not even a good cash player.

I can't see that image King, too small. I press Alt + Print screen and paste it into paint. Hide your username or anything you don't want shown and then save it as a png. Just upload to Betfair from there and it should be OK or you can upload to tinypic or imageshack.us and paste the source link.

I'm almost sure I faced a similar situation this week with AA v 77 on an A7x flop. In a live charity game around 4 years ago I shoved JJ, behind me had AA, KK, QQ and muppet called 77 in BB and won. They're hard not to notice but play enough hands and you will see any combination. I tend not to dwell on hands like that, I curse them when they happen to me but if I were to go through HEM I'd find several similar spots where I both won and lost.

I have my stats hidden Mischief

Could he have been playing to your weaknesses? ie. Floating the flop to take it down on the turn or river?

Also how does his graph look? Steady upwards slope or just a few big wins but mostly downwards? I think that tells a lot about a player, anyone can get lucky.

Sounds like he put you on 2 high cards and maybe your stats made him think he could take it down. I'd normally say don't flat with KK but you got what you wanted and got him to make the mistake.

Do you flat too much in the blinds? I'd much rather 3 bet against an unknown to charge for my premium and build a pot. It's important though to balance your ranges, don't just 3 bet with premiums but also with other hands. You might think it will cost you chips but it's long term +EV for you. The small amount of times you are caught will be more than compensated by the times you will win chips. That's what he done, he's probably seen you flat in the blinds and fold on wet flops like 678.

"__dp__" was the best grinder on Betfair Ongame. He raised me with 97s in the cut off, I shoved him with AA and he called and won. I put him down as a lag donk but I made a note of the hand. I checked Sharkscope and seen his straight up graph. When I looked back at the hand, his raise was for 1/3rd of his stack and he was priced in for my shove (he didn't know I had AA). I would never have raised 97s in that spot but I do now. I'll also flat and 3 bet 97s in the blinds in the right spots.

When you flatted with KK, what were you hoping for? If he raised 97s in the same spot it plays very well on a 678 board. Your 80% pre flop became 55% on the flop. Not so strong? He's balancing his 97s by also playing 33 the exact same way but he's also playing AA, KK to be hard to read. He's put you on 2 broadways like JTs or KQo which would flat in spots like this, he made the mistake but it wasn't so big when you look at his overall game and it was only a mistake because you had KK, a lot of the times you will fold.

7th and 4th for me last night in that tourney, I play it every time it runs. It's pretty profitable for me and usually an overlay. It runs Friday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday and is open to all, not just new players. Yes they combine your stacks and bubble you for your other buy in. If you manage to win the tournament, there's a pop up saying if you Tweet to @betfair you get €10 x €1 free tickets. Not everyone sees this and @betfair doesn't even know about the promotion! Just contact support, tell them and you will be credited. It all mounts up Crazy

There used to be a big overlay in the One Night Stand but hasn't been of late. Keep an eye on it though.

Dirty Dozen #3 Excited

Betfair support as usual didn't have a feckin clue. Finally got him to escalate it with his boss but haven't heard anything from them. Have the chat recorded, I'll get the money eventually. I made several mistakes/ bad shoves/ bad calls so it proves you need a little luck to win.

Have some rough stats to work with. I've a 10% ROI and have won 3 in 1500 games. I'm only averaging 4 games per day even though I know I can play 20-30. It might be worth my while to up my volume.

I had a haitus and moved to 6 max SnGs but I was having trouble with 1 reg and only played these to take a break from him

The Maui Jackpot is now €58,000. I've a 5% ROI but they are structured so much different and there are several reasonable regs. 3 + 2nd is my best. Somebody wins from time to time so I may have a blast but the Dirty Dozen is so much easier.
