They don't get out of bed till lunchtime, or even teatime for California, which makes scheduling phone calls hard.

The greatest annoyance about America is the way they portray their western ideal as the best but which comes at a cost of others, like protectionism or the arrogant stance that they put on like their whites are whiter, but in reality behind the facade it's all corrupt greed and self serving.

Difficult to narrow it down to one thing (i.e with so much to choose from). They come out with a lot of broken English catch phrases, typically initiated by some idiot from the wrong side of the tracks, then repeated by others who want to sound hip. Then ultimately everyone across the nation is falling over each other to use it.

Yes, presumably how we ended up hearing "Waa-la" all the time.

One that grates on me is, I think, that Californian? female way of saying "You" which takes strange twists and turns and ends up sort of "yaaou".

Saying "thank you" as part of their email signatures -- which I mistook for sarcasm at first. Maybe that says more about me than them!

Many things about America annoy me particularly their arrogance thinking their way should be what the rest of the world should aspire to.
On a more mundane level I think we could do without Black Friday and Halloween. How long before we start celebrating Thanksgiving?

One thing? Mmm, so many.

The one that grates the most though is that their insistence on presenting the news in the present tense has infected every single one of our news channels.

For example...

'David Cameron meets with Barack Obama' v 'David Cameron met with Barack Obama'

...when said event concluded well before the broadcast began. They use the sketchy grammar of 'meets' because they're fudging the fact that 'is meeting' is an all out lie.

I don't mind language changing. It always has, and always will, but for news media to drive that change, and not merely reflect it, really p*sses me off.

Also, my ex's accent, which was endearing when I went out with her. Less so now. I know that that's two things. Sorry.

Did they also invent 'ahead of' which is an annoying addition to the lexicon of the rolling TV sports programmes.

true..although they made a good profit out of us

They fail to respect other peoples cultures....they want to force their own woeful values onto everybody else

I wish they would to isolationism and do the rest of the world a favour

Of course they are good in parts, but they need to accept the rest of the world needs less of them than they may think

I'm not sure the UK has a right to criticise the US about obese people :)
The reason the US has to step up to the plate is that Europe wrings their hands but doesn't want to get their hands dirty or spend the money to buy the aircraft carriers to blow up scumbags like IS.

I mean, I'm not a military expert or anything, but I'd think Hitler's hardened professional army would handle America's play-for-fun army after taking Europe.

well if we had not overthrown Saddam Husseinn IS would not exist...rather makes it our fault

We don't need to buy aircraft carriers to deal with ISIS....and the UK is offering air support, special services in the fight against ISIS

Well yes ebul I agree re S.H. but what's done is done, that was El Busho.
You have to try and clear up the mess if possible, it's there and you can't rewind the clock.
