£120 ?????????????????????????? Is it all from Waitrose or something? Dunno what you're eating but ours is no where near that.

Because they are pleading poverty. It would also depend upon whether all the kids could eat there, as well. Plus the breast-feedng for the twins, obviously.

giggilo,
if you're spending £120 a week on food for 2 people then I suggest you cut back on the lobster and the wagyu beef. ![]() |

£120 for 2 people???????????????????????????????

What's the deal here, that works out to £8.50 a day per person, you can of course eat cheaper but that is hardly extravagant
|
|
By:
8.50 a day, every day is pretty extravagant. What the hell are they buying?
|

I spend more on my hound.
It's all relative. If you can afford it, why not. I can cook a pot of stew for less than a tenner that would feed a family for a couple of days. Or if you are a veggie lentil soup for a couple of quid. So there are ways to eat well for not much (if you can cook) But if you can afford a nice piece of steak or some lambs chops, then as i say, why not.. |

I know what I spend on food and how well I live and im just baffled when people claim it costs so much to eat decently. I think it may be partly explained by parents who are dictated to by their children and cook separately for each (usually expensive junk food) rather than making one family meal like we used to years ago.
|
|
By:
maybe in the shanty towns of southern India but here 8.50 a day is never extravagant, you can buy some salami in waitrose for nearly 3 quid, not sure if that counts as luxury

Simple ways to save.
Do you need meat in every meal? Not really. Do as bhoys said cook in bulk and freeze. I did a stew last week fed three of us for two days. Ok I popped a bottle of red in but you on budget leave it out. And a simple way is grow some food at home. Much tastier fresher and costs you the seed price and a bit of effort. |

And my last typed word on the previous post is the KEY word to all of this.
Many are lazy and take the easy option. |

Feel free to profit from them then bb.

On the actual issue being discussed 8.50 is extravagant. If your spending 8.50 a day on basic groceries then it is extravagant in the context of a discussion about the current affordability of food for people because clearly a person spending that amount isn't really bothered about the cost and will eat what they want without even knowing how much they spend. As per the Giggilo.

I work outdoors in a physical job. Often don't bother with brekkie. 2 sarnies for lunch, then evening meal. Fit as a flea.

Ignorance is bliss, I truly, truly, cannot believe that any person can even argue the point, this country is completely fooked. |

When I mention about this country being ripe at last for some kind of revolution, and from all that ive witnessed and read about, Id be very very surprised if people will put up with the current state of affairs much longer.

EO – you beat me to the punch lol
So what does Tony etal propose in his ‘revolution’ I wonder? The higher rate tax payers on 50%+ tax (40% income tax plus both sets of NI) should have it bumped up further to mabe 80%+ 1970s style so that the jobless sad acts can have more each week? |
