These records are now seen in the same light as Children In Need night. A one off performed by ' celebs ' with the intent of persuading the public to part with their money. Who, although they could to umpteen existing charities, don't.

It's like religion, if there was no paying there'd be no praying.
And if there was no publicity to be gained from these charades, as far as the pop world would be concerned the starving could go and eat dirt. |

It does seem that the showbiz world has to let everyone know how generous and caring they are, too many publicity ****s. Why can't more be like Adele and donate privately.
This thing the other year when various celebs went up Kilimanjaro, how much did it cost to fly them and a film crew? Why not just donate that money? |

And between them they knocked out thousands of children that were doomed to starvation, and maybe the spread of disease. And those children grew up and had more children, and so it will carry on.
It's an ongoing problem that will probably never be solved by sending aid. It may not be palatable to most, but to let them die off is doing them a long term favour. Stop all aid and within 5 years there will be nobody left. Problem solved. Leaving aside the moral issue of starving an entire continent to death (not that you're racist, of course), there's a practical problem with your plan: Lower standards of living = higher birth rates The reason that the world would benefit from sorting out the giant mess that is Africa is that it is the best way of stopping its population from increasing so rapidly. So the only reason you could have for wanting them to starve is simply that you enjoy watching them starve. |
