I answered you Dr Crippen.

CMAT
You are advocating a massive council house building programme
If labour didn't do anything like that after thirteen years of boom and  power, then you can take it that it isn't going to happen. Especially now that we can't afford it anyway.

I see Mister Badger hasn't attempted to answer the question at all.

As for his first question, I already said I know the people concerned.

Then there's his silly question where he asked me if I've heard of hydrotherapy.
He really is a fool if he connects hydrotherapy with water sports and swimming three miles a week. Are you a fool Mister Badger?

why exactly are you more concerned about the tiny amount of taxes you pay towards these 'fake ill' people than you are about the HORDES now of very sick people who are suffering extreme anxiety, and forced impoverishment? In answer to eeternal opt..I am self employed, tho i just feel it in my bones u were hoping Id be living it up on jobseekers', you know, the whole package, 400 cigs a week, sky tv, 6 kids, 4 wheel drive etc. while signing on.

Mark Wood, 44. Found fit for work by Atos, against his Doctors advice and assertions that he had complex mental health problems. Starved to death after benefits stopped, weighing only 5st 8lb when he died.

YOU, mr Ian duncan smith are responsible for this poor man's death...I hope one day you are brought to trial for it.

How can IDS be held responsible for every case that is dealt with by his department?

Any more than he can be congratulated for saving the lives of all the loafers that have returned to work and decided not to kill themselves, after finding peace in a meaningful existence in the workplace?

You see TB, every cloud has a silver lining.

peace in a meaningless existence, more like. Havent you noticed these days? the jobs advertised are  nearly all agency based or p t...And Im not even talking about such people, im talking about the people who are TOO ILL to work, yet have been deemed fit for work by d w p, and all because they have been told to get up to 20% off benefits to save the gov't money.
You may as well say hitler wasnt responsible for the death of millions of jews. I mean, he didnt shove them into the gas ovens, did he?
The fact is, dunc. smith has helped bring about legislation which treats the infirm as criminals, criminals who are left with a stark choice, namely; attend numerous atos work capability assessments or face the humiliation of destitution and even starvation. That in a civilised society is unacceptable.

on another topic, its good to see many of the big superstores pulling out of this gov't's workfare programme, after all, isnt this yet another attempt to hide the real unemployment figures with the disappearing claimants also facing benefit stoppages if they refuse workfare.
By:

As for his first question, I already said I know the people concerned.

That means nothing - as I suggested, this could all be made up because it suits your "argument", it's anecdote, not fact. And even if this couple did exist and you knew them, how would you know that they go swimming at least three times a week and do exactly 64 lengths each time? Are you not at work during these swimming sessions? Or are you a swimming pool attendant?

Aren't you going to mention that?

Tony - you do know the bedroom tax is NOT a tax??

It's a reduction in housing benefit for people with spare rooms they don't need.

What about my claim that the bloke does work on the side.

Probably spurious as well. And even if true, just because somebody can change a plug or replace a broken switch doesn't mean they're fit for full time employment, surely even a simpleton like you can understand that.

And what exactly are these extra benefits this couple claims for "ilnesses" by the way, and how much money do they receive?
By:
Tony Broke
When: 19 Nov 14 16:30
doc, suppose you receive around £25,000 per annum. Now, from my research i believe on average you'd be forking out almost £300 per annum on disability benefits. So, less than a quid a day, ok, you dont like that, after all why should you pay out nearly £1 per day on something u disagree with?
Now supposing we take a guess at how many people are actually 'pretending' to be ill, and claiming for it, with their swimming and what-have you.
I'd say maybe around 5% of all the disability claimants are cheating the system, so, assuming you do not actually midn paying a miniscule amount from your wages towards the people who ARE genuinely ill, and remember, one day you may need this benefit yourself - youd probably only be paying around 20 p or so per week on the nasty cheaters. But as we all have to pay taxes for things we dont care for ie in my case royality and war - we just have to knuckle down and do it, and put up with it....
By:

When: 19 Nov 14 16:42
injera doesnt matter whether its a 'tax' or not, the gov't appear to have made a huge mistake in calculating their supposed savings from yet another attempt at punishing the lower classes in order to save money for themselves, ie. didn't they realise the very people who would be forced from their homes would then seek private accomadation, and thus - as so many are not well off - claim even more housing benefits as greedy, and probably conservative - landlords - upped their rents and then no doubt added to the tories big fund?
By:
Tony Broke
When: 19 Nov 14 16:44
why dont the tories on here try to explain why so many people have been waiting for their medicals when claiming for pip? gross imcompetence or plain twattyness on behalf of this gov't?
By:

When: 19 Nov 14 16:52
You imply the govt somehow make money from trying to reduce the housing benefit bill..'big fund'????

Labour took the HB bill from £8Bn to about £24Bn by the time they left office. It has to be brought down.

This govt and the next one will have a massive overspend for the forseeable future. We're borrowing £11Bn a MONTH to pay for public services. We CANNOT afford current public spending levels.

I agree with you that councils have to be sensitive with each case...

I`ve personally found the bad press and manipulation regarding the unemployed/disabled over the last fews years very distasteful.

The worst part for is so many have fallen hook line and sinker for it. Working class tearing strips out of working class.

''The government started reassessing about 1.5 million incapacity benefit claimants almost a year ago, as part of a drive to cut the amount spent on welfare payments. Figures released on Thursday show that 37% of the first 141,100 claimants who have undergone a work capability assessment have been found fit for work – and refused further benefit payments.''
Telegraph.

1.5 million claiming they were unfit for work. Don't you find that figure incredible?
No wonder they're clamping down on the cheats.

37% of 141,100 is 52,170.... out of about 1.5 million.....
This leaves about  erm.... 1.5 million.

The cheats won't be bothered. But people like you will fill justified in picking on those with the least to lose whilst supporting those with the most, who lose nothing.

Oh yes, compared to you, I reckon probably everything.

crippen of course theyve been found fit for work, thats why theyre all fecking killing themselves - atos and dwp have been TOLD to make sure they get loads of ill people off benefits, which they have, and made profits from the deaths of an increasing number of those same claimants.
And now this...how just....and while all those 'alleged' tory mps are meddling with kids....

schizophrenic who stole 15 Toblerones from Poundland in Chester has been jailed.

Christopher Welsh had already disposed of the chocolate bars when he was arrested and taken back to the Frodsham Street store on Tuesday, November 4.

The 58-year-old, who has mental health issues and hears voices, was jailed for six weeks after breaching a suspended sentence by stealing the treats.

Magistrates said they had no choice but to impose the sentence, as his shoplifting ‘costs businesses’ and could result in the loss of ‘valuable community assets’.

Welsh, who lives in sheltered accommodation in Plas Newton, was in breach of a two month suspended sentence for shoplifting offences, including stealing razors and cosmetics, imposed on October 17.

The court heard how Welsh had a history of shoplifting offences and struggled with alcohol due to his mental health issues, which had gotten worse in the past six years since his wife died.

Welsh has been under the care of mental health services for the past 25 years, and pleaded guilty to the offence of theft during a hearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Wednesday (November 5).

Howard Jones, defending, argued it would be unjust to activate the suspended sentence due to his client’s mental health issues, who sufferers from a split personality and hears voices.

“Six years ago his wife passed away, Mr Welsh’s mental health deteriorated over that period of time, that was combined with an increase in a use of alcohol.”

But Welsh, who has been under the care of mental health services for the past 25 years, was jailed for six weeks, four weeks for the new offence and six weeks for the activated suspended sentence, which will run concurrently.

There's a case going through the High Courts at the moment where a woman states that their spare bedroom is a 'panic room' as her husband is prone to getting violent now and again. Her and her daughter hide in there until he calms down.

If you need it explaining further I suggest you revisit Crippen's post where your attention should be drawn to the information that these were the first 141,100 to be tested and so given the large sample size it is highly likely to be replicated in the larger sample.

Yours is as always, stupid and pointless. There is nothing about replication, nor that ANY of the people are 'fiddling'.
Just that they were found fit by ATOS, which - as you're too moronic to appreciate, is the subject of this thread.

There is NO extrapolation. 1.5 million HAVEN'T been assessed. IF they had then the figure would have been 37% of 1.5 million. They haven't, so it isn't/

Sheesh, you're stupid, (and I'm being dumb enough to fall for fishing - so this is my last post on the subject, there's a limit to the I want to waste on your nonsense), There's NO NEED to take 37% of 1.5 million, until they've all been assessed.... THEN you can use the figure and not assume the statistic holds, let alone make the further self-serving assumption that they're all fiddling.

Now you can continue talking crap to yourself and crippen. I have no further interest.
By:
Dr Crippen
When: 20 Nov 14 22:50
STUDY must think that all of the fraudulent claimers out of the 1.5 million were in the first 141,000 they checked out.

I can't see any other reason why he persists.

It's pretty reasonable to expect the figure of around 37% to continue as they test the rest of the 1.5 million.
After all many polls and medical conclusions are drawn on much smaller samples that 141,000 out of 1.5 million.

I'm fine thanks, Crippen, why wouldn't I be? You're the one who seems obsessed with them, following them around, checking how many times they go swimming and meticulously recording how many lengths of the pool they do each time, not to mention checking on what work he supposedly does on the side. You have gathered all this information about them, and even ascertained that they are (presumably) fraudulently claiming "extra benefits" for "illnesses" but you can't say what the benefits are or how much they receive - which tends to support my belief that you are just making it up as you go along.
