Just looking for independent, verifiable evidence jed, other than the say-so of the McCanns & their drinking buddies.

I would guess that the fact there no body has been found is reason enough to conclude that we are, at present, dealing with a missing person inquiry. That is generally the way it goes. Not always, but it would usually depend upon something a bit more substantial than a chitchat forum opinion.

I would imagine that the McCanns maintain their quest because they are driven by the torment of the results of their actions that evening.

I'm  afraid that 'keeping themselves under the radar would NOT help to maintain the drive to find their child.

Well mate, they have kept themselves on the front pages for seven years, and that hasn't exactly helped either, has it?

mange,

we have the irrefutable evidence of the McCanns that she was in there.

How could you possibly think otherwise? Cool

Desperately sad.  I've no idea what happened but I can't help but dislike the McCann's and their lectures on press behaviour.

Agree its The Mcann's fault ,Never the less what has happened, happened ,but anyone spouting abuse at them is a  sick
individual who must lead a very sad life ...

that's me case

Its the HYPOCROCY

They make out they are model parents who ever give up looking for their daughter

Yet when they had her they could not be bothered to keep her safe

If they confessed that second line I could empathize better

No confession, no forgiveness

Indicative that most of those defending the mccanns fail to mention any sympathy for Madeleine.  (hard to imagine defending the act of leaving 3 kids all under the age of 5 to look after themselves but there you go)

On watching a bit of the documentary below ,I find a statement by Kate rather out of place for someone who's child has just
been abducted , on surveying the room she says "I knew that every little detail would be very important to the Police investigation " I'm sorry but on having a child go missing I would be on the point of collapse ,I would hardly be thinking
about details of the room ,I actually nearly lost a greyhound she took off down the road and instead of going into the front garden she Kept going ,I nearly collapsed ,she disapeared ,I felt  sick for the next 10 minutes and this is a Dog I'm talking
about ,thankfully the fxcker eventually came back plodding up the road Happy but the feeling of woe had been  overwhelming Sad my Mrs lost sight of one of our daughters in a Dept store she was missing for about 3 minutes she was aged 4 ,took my mrs a day or so to get over it ,Yet Kate is recording  Scene of Crime details ,very strange ...

Ozy. Perhaps they DO say that. But that does not, in any way, indicate a lack of sympathy for the child. It means only what it says, nothing more...nothing less.

This subject always divides people neatly into 2 groups...

1. People who have devoted some hours of their time into actually reading the evidence .
2. People who think Madeleine was abducted .

Crags response is typical of the pro McCanns.

Anger towards 'the trolls'  , abusive comments towards them - which he decently apologised for - but no attempt to explain why the reasons given for suspecting the McCans are dubious.

This is always so with their defenders . Just assertions of their innocence and very little patience with anyone discussing the evidence .

This latest drivel from Sky News is the Mccans strategy to close down the websites that cover this case and finally stamp out all questioning of them.

Someone says they should have their children removed from their care (as unfit parents ) and this becomes 'people threatening to kidnap their children ' . Someone says they should 'burn in hell' in the sense of a punishment for sinners and is followed by some flippant comments about supplying the matches etc , and this is absurdly presented as plans to murder them .

The McCanns could care less about stuff like that but they hate those websites because they are the only places in Britain that people can find the facts of the case , as opposed to the fairytales presented in the tabloids .

re Pokermonster's enquiries about the dog evidence suggesting there was a body in the apartment and then the hire car 5 weeks later....

It does seem odd that a body would be hidden for over a month and then brought out and placed in a car . But thats not necessarily what the evidence says . The dog would alert to the smell - cadaverine  - of anything that was associated closely enough with a dead body to transfer the smell to the car : such as items that may have been used to hide/move the body .

A bag of clothes containing DNA linked to Madeleine McCann has been discovered dumped by a road in Portugal.

The white carrier bag was discovered in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport.

Kate and Gerry McCann have since been informed of its contents.

The bag is believed to contain a blue fleece jacket and a pair of adult jeans with traces of DNA which may have come from Maddie.

It was also said to contain a shower curtain.

Other items recovered from the bag included a white flannel, a green elastic band, a light green child's T-shirt with a green flower on the front and a pink and blue pencil case with a pink heart motif.

Maybe thats nothing to do with this case . If so thats a strange pile of rubbish for someone to dump imo . Wouldn't you just leave it out for the binmen Confused

FWIW , accoring to Gerry's blog , the hire car was mostly used for trips between Praia da Luz and Faro airport 'to pick up friends visiting from the UK ' Plain

These fairytales in the tabloids that you call them, you have to remember the media in this country were against them for a long while, conjuring up all sorts of theories and in  the process being sued successfully for libel hence the reluctance to relay any more facts that can disputed.

this is the full article on tobermory's post, bolded part is the part he left out

Bag of clothes dumped near Portugal airport shows DNA links to Maddie
Last updated at 08:33 05 November 2007

A bag of clothes containing DNA linked to Madeleine McCann has been discovered dumped by a road in Portugal.
The white carrier bag was discovered in a layby two weeks ago near Faro airport, according to a report in the News of the World.

The DNA samples were not an exact match but were thought to show a "moderate" link to the missing four-year-old.
A source said: "The bag could be crucial. The DNA isn't an exact match to Maddie's, but it does link.
"It is the first clue found outside the apartment complex and could provide a trail."
The bag, which was found by a passer-by, was sent to a UK lab in Birmingham for forensic tests.
Scroll down for more...

A leaked report showed experts concluded the clothes contained bodily fluid and traces of hair that could have come from Maddie.
The jeans contained more than 60 different stains.
The report concluded: "The blue fleece and jeans were found to contain traces of congealed skin and hair.

"They were found to contain DNA characteristics that could be attributed to Madeleine McCann." No traces of Maddie's DNA were found on any of the other items.
The fresh clues will give Kate and Gerry, both 39, renewed hope of finding their daughter alive six months after she disappeared.
A friend of the McCanns said: "It potentially suggests that someone has taken her then disposed of the clothing.
"They have done it near Faro which could imply they have gone in the direction of the airport. It backs up the idea she was abducted."
Maddie disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Portuguese resort Praia da Luz on May 3, just days before her fourth birthday.

linked dna ffs, that's like saying someone is a bit pregnant, it was either her dna or it wasn't and it wasn't. I do wish in an interview though they would be ambushed with the cadaverine question, it's indisputable.

There will always be people tragic enough to attack the parents of a missing child, without any evidence. Thankfully we live in a society where such people are despised.

Whatever else you think there is no doubt the McCanns were self indulgent parents both before and after the disappearance of their child. They were thinking about themselves over the children before the event and they were again thinking about themselves over their missing child after the event. Their failure to answer questions to the police meant investigation resources had to be divided in more ways than it needed to be. Its because of the parents actions that the investigation could not be totally focussed in the best possible direction for this child.

Don't forget when the McCanns were being interviewed by the police there was still a realistic hope of finding this young girl alive. Their actions after the event in hindering police investigations will always cast a shadow of suspicion over them.

Looks like Tobermory only reads the bits that make the 'evidence' fit HIS idea of the events. This is not an uncommon syndrome. Hopefully, one day Maddie may return or sufficient permissible evidence is compiled to determine what actually happened and who did what.
But in the meantime I would suggest that suing people and papers for libel should NOT be seen as a sign of guilt. It is simply a sign that some people do not approve of highly contentious reports that are not based on factual evidence.
And I, for one, don't blame them! Plus it all detracts from the main purpose of these investigations which is to find the child!

The media would have slaughtered them on the front pages every day for ages if the McCanns worked as shelf stackers in Tesco, or were unemployed.

Imo, they got off lightly because of their profession.
