I was born in the USA and carry a US passport. It's a technicality really, but I am not so bothered I want to change it. I prefer England to the US, the people here are pretty damn fine IMO. But that doesn't mean I hate the US either.
Last time I was in the USA I met an Indian guy.....well and American guy who had been born in India. He was the most American person I've ever met. And it bothers me a bit that we - in England - don't install/demand such a level of patriotism, but on the other hand I have two 'Indian' mates here who represent all that is good about the UK. |

Rotherham child sex victim says she still sees abusers 'driving young girls in their car', as claims emerge of hundreds of new cases.
A victim of the child sex scandal in Rotherham has claimed that her abusers are "untouchable". The survivor, who wishes only to be known as 'Gemma', told Sky News that she still sees her abusers targeting young women, and criticised the actions of police in bringing the perpetrators to justice. She said that problems in the Yorkshire town, which was revealed by the Alexis Jay report last year to have harboured 1,400 cases of child sexual exploitation, were "still going on" - and were "worse because now they're having to hide it more". . http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/rotherham-child-sex-victim-says-she-still-sees-abusers-driving-young-girls-in-their-car-as-claims-emerge-of-hundreds-of-new-cases-10009992.html |

Rotherham council in denial on child sexual exploitation failures, report says
Damning report by Louise Casey for government finds culture of bullying, sexism and suppression in a council ‘currently incapable of tackling its weaknesses’ Rotherham council was more concerned about protecting its own reputation than its most vulnerable citizens, according to an uncompromising report on the council’s handling of child sexual exploitation which concludes that the council is not fit for purpose. Louise Casey, the government’s lead on troubled families, said she had reached that “reluctant” conclusion after inspecting the council at the end of last year in the wake of claims at least 1,400 children had been abused in the South Yorkshire town over a 12-year period. A report by Professor Alexis Jay published in August said there were blatant collective failures by council and other agencies in their handling of child sexual exploitation. In a further report published on Wednesday, commissioned by the communities secretary, Eric Pickles, Casey said she found a council failing and in denial. Casey’s report concludes: “The council’s culture is unhealthy: bullying, sexism, suppression and misplaced ‘political correctness’ have cemented its failures. The council is currently incapable of tackling its weaknesses, without a sustained intervention.” The communities secretary is poised to make a statement on the council, suggesting the government could be ready for such an intervention. Casey wrote: “Terrible things happened in Rotherham and on a significant scale. Children were sexually exploited by men who came largely from the Pakistani heritage community. Not enough was done to acknowledge this, to stop it happening, to protect children, to support victims and to apprehend perpetrators. “Upon arriving in Rotherham, these I thought were the uncontested facts. My job was to conduct an inspection and decide whether the council was now fit for purpose. “However this was not the situation I encountered when I reached Rotherham. Instead, I found a council in denial. They denied that there had been a problem, or if there had been, that it was as big as was said. If there was a problem they certainly were not told – it was someone else’s job. They were no worse than anyone else. They had won awards. The media were out to get them.” She added: “I want to be clear that the responsibility for the abuse that took place in Rotherham lies firmly with the vile perpetrators, many of whom have not yet faced justice for what they have done. I hope that this will shortly be rectified. But in its actions, the conclusion that I have reluctantly reached is that both today and in the past, Rotherham has at times taken more care of its reputation than it has its of its most needy.” Casey said that while child sexual exploitation is a national problem, Rotherham’s failures were particularly bad. “Rotherham is different,” she wrote, “in that it was repeatedly told by its own youth service what was happening and it chose, not only to not act, but to close that service down. This is important because it points to how it has dealt with uncomfortable truths put before it. However, I propose that this report is one uncomfortable truth that will not be ignored, but that Rotherham council will use it to embrace the change so sorely needed and ensure that from here it get its priorities right.” Casey said two key Rotherham figures had refused to be interviewed for her report: Roger Stone, the former leader of the council, who stood down the day the Jay report was published, and the former police and crime commissioner, Shaun Wright, who was the council lead on children’s services during part of the period covered by Jay’s report. Wright made national headlines when he refused to resign despite coming under pressure from the highest echelons of government, including David Cameron and Theresa May. He stepped down weeks after the scandal broke. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/feb/04/rotherham-council-denial-child-sexual-exploitation-failures-report |

NCA getting involved.
Jail every fackin one of them. |
By:
Can't agree with Champion there. This all came about because of whistle blowers.
By:
The sad fact is that the people of Rotherham will still keep on voting for Labour councils and Labour Mps. Guiness is right, people should be jailed for this.
By:
I wonder (I hope) whether they will go after Shaun Wright? Maybe they will because of the way he acted after all this blew up, and not for the real reasons..
By:
Nothing will happen to any of them
By:
Normally I would agree. But they may well look for a can carrying SOB..
By:
My guess is that a couple of people will get shafted and perhaps go to jail - to appease all of us that are disgusted ... and the rest will get generous pay offs, new positions in the council, new jobs in other areas of the public sector, or get into the BBC if they're really dodgy.
We've seen in all before. |

Listening to the B.B.C News I have yet to hear that the Rotherham Council was a Labour Council.
Can you imagine if it had been a U.K.I.P. Council we would have non stop reminders and various comments about how it reflected on its ideology. |
By:
Why would the fact that it might have been a Labour council be of any interest? They report the news.
By:
Naydam do you really believe that had this been a U.K.I.P. led Council it would not be mentioned . Laughable.
By:
Because the whole point is it was Labour run by their pc policies, ie ignore the local rapist muslims as it would be "racist"
By:
I don't know. Is it a Labour council? Why would it be mentioned if it was UKIP, unless it was their first council, of course. That might be considered newsworthy o9n a quiet day.

If you cant understand from our two replies above...go to bed...

Whoever made or enforced those pc policies should be stuck in a cage and.....
Well you know the rest. |

By:
Naydam you make my point perfectly you didn't know it was a Labour Council . Had it been U,K,I.P YOU WOULD BE LEFT IN NO DOUBT BY THE
b.b.c. ' |
By:
It seems to me that there is always a huge IF in posts of this type. Can you give a specific example of when this has ACTUALLY occurred? Otherwise it is simply a figment of your imagination. Something that YOU think WOULD have happened IF.........with no factual support to give you that impression in the first place.
By:
will Pandora start a midnight thread about this useless Labour council?
By:
Naydam your argument is that it does not matter whose ideology allowed what happened in Rotherham .
By:
I didn't even know that it was an argument.

By:
OK Naydam . What is your response to the last point I made.

Epicurean. You are totally confusing me. I will try to respond to your request if you will explain to me which is the last point you made.
If you are referring to your 19-33pm post...you will need to clarify the point because I don't understand the post. |

. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-31151445 The BBC won't give details but I wonder? |

20 men arrested as part of Operation Sanctuary in Northumberland. Apparently (??) they come from a range of ethnic backgrounds according to previous police press releases. This was heavily stressed in the earlier investigations.

I think the last time 20 white blokes worked together on criminal activity was The Great Train Robbery..
