I do not hold much optimism that this enquiry will be looking to deliver the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The CEO of the NSPCC, Peter Wanless, who is to lead the enquiry is a former civil servant who has held his position with the NSPCC for just about a year. Was he moved in in anticipation of this becoming public. A former civil servant hardly seems completely independent.

He joined the Nspcc Last year hardly a wealth of experience ,as for him being a Civil Servant he quite obviously will know or have known half the mob hes investigating ,its down to the Civil service that it has taken so long to get to where we are now ...

That's just the problem.
People don't vote. Not in sufficiently large numbers or with sufficient political nous where they do - and to top it all off, our democracy rests on the voting patterns in 40-50 marginal constituencies, so the rest of us won't make a lick of difference no matter where we place our votes. We had our chance to change it with the PR vote and didn't want to know. So here we are. |

The vast majority of the great british public unfortunately suffer from terminal apathy. Change could be effected if enough people protested, demonstrated in the streets of Westminster, refused to vote, demanded change. Instead they are willing to be duped, lied to, cheated, manipulated and used as cash cows as long as sky sports and reality tv is on tap. Anything for a quiet life.

the systems now broking down,leon brittan held the 3rd most important job in the country is a lord and rightly or wrongly no one believes a word he says,
whats the point in electing people if we cant believe a word they say and have to have judge led enquiries for any hope of getting the truth, if these mp,s,policemen,bankers etc were in normal engineering,factory jobs you couldnt work with them because they cant be trusted and in many cases your life depends on you trusting your workmates, |

@The Leopard -- that's the trouble. Kincora was a real scandal and we don't know what went on there. But satanic abuse stretches credibility by itself, without the added attraction of the British Prime Minister swanning around republican areas of Northern Ireland during the troubles.

This is pretty dismal. The judiciary are amongst the institutions the enquiry is meant to be looking into. She chaired the Cleeveland enquiry into child abuse, granted anonymity to the killers of James Bulger, was the original chair into the inquest of Princess Diana & Dodi Fayed before stepping down and is a life peer in the House of Lords as well as being President of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice. She could hardly be more establishment.

I agree johnnythebull with your post. There should be nothing and no-one safer than children and the sheer inhumanity of these offences is sickening. We must be the only species that sexually abuses its own young. |
