Bilston near Wolverhampton is a busy little multicultural town in the West Midlands.
Many regard it as the jewel in the crown of the Black Country. The Trumpet pub in the town is worth a visit. The Trumpet is a famous watering hole not far from the market place by the way. And exercising at the Bert Williams leisure center is another big attraction for visitors. Just the job for working up a thirst for a session in the Trumpet. |

Bridgnorth..beautiful riverside town, pubs bookies lovely architecture
I've been there many times. I heard that Hitler intended to make Bridgenorth his headquarters if his invasion of Britain had come off. He'd have enjoyed taking Eva for a stroll along the Severn on a summers night. And perhaps a pint in a pub and a bag of chips on the way home. Alas he never knew what he'd missed. |

Re Saffron Walden and Jamie Oliver....15 years or so ago I remember his parents having a pub in a pretty village called Clavering (as a youngster Jamie was cooking).
I live in Surrey and it's difficult to think of any really nice towns apart from Farnham and perhaps Godalming and Guildford. What the county has in abundance are lots of very attractive villages and some great countryside for walking. |

I never knew that about Bridgnorth and Hitler.
Ironic that De Gaulle was holed up in Bewdley, just down the river, during WW2. |

Coachbuster. I'd agree, but technically it is in Essex.
BTW, I live in Cambridge, have done for 26 years. Beautiful city, if a little pricey, and would highly recommend it to someone who wanted a short break.weekend away. |
