...I think if I lost a beloved daughter...

and had to go through the six years of emotional strain and trauma of not knowing what had happened to her I think I would probably pursue any bit of info however unlikely.....

even if it gave me only 0.00001% chance of some closure or a resolution.

..like digging up a small patch of driveway for example.

Guiness. I don't know about answering it but I think they would say that arranges like that are no substitute for actual observation. In fact, I would guess that they'd advise most strongly against it. They might even refer to a time when they themselves thought that 'popping in' would be adequate, and the catastrophic result of being wrong.
Then again, maybe they wouldn't. Maybe it would depend upon who else was present.

Naydam: I think that's what puzzles me most about the whole scenario.

I do realise that this is something that may be seen as a bizarre question, but i wonder if there is any conceivable chance that they were'nt as stoic in their parenting skills because of the childrens IVF conception?

It shouldn't, in fact you would think that IVF parents would be even more stringent regarding care of their children. But to me, on what i've seen and heard, they don't seem like typical parents..

I watched Heartbeat earlier(Gina Love) and was amazed at the similarity of the police sergeant and the e-fit. Check it out.
This could get Gerry off the hook. Crazy

what gets me is that either mitchel, cameron, etc no their guilty and are in on the cover up or why dont they adress the questions raised on here and give the public some answers, for the dozen or so unanswered questions on here, with no concrete evidence either way, their word and the word of their friends doesnt even come close to been enough for any normal person

No mention on the BBC website about the E-fits being suppressed by the McCanns for years. Perhaps they are feeling foolish after the Crimewatch show being based on the "new" evidence which had become available.

Naive to think that the police won't have thought of and addressed anything brought up on here.
I think that they would also keep their conclusions to themselves and not want to share them with us. Wink

A spokesman for Mothers Against Murder and Aggression told The Mirror: “We are surprised that the BBC employed the services of someone who has openly worked in the sex industry for something as sensitive as this reconstruction.

'Man killed in tractor accident could have been Madeleine McCann's kidnapper'

A man who died in a tractor accident four years ago could have kidnapped Madeleine McCann, it was claimed today.

The unnamed 40-year-old was a former employee at the Ocean Club holiday complex, where the McCanns stayed, and might have snatched Madeleine in revenge for being sacked, a Portuguese newspaper claimed. It said Portuguese police had quizzed his widow about their suspicions.

They identified him as their main suspect after tests on his mobile phone revealed that he was near the McCanns’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz when Madeleine disappeared on May 3, 2007, the daily Correio da Manha reported.  The flat is a 15-minute drive from Lagos where the suspect was living after he stopped working at the Ocean Club. Police reportedly feared he had killed Madeleine.

Kate and Gerry McCann’s lawyer, Rogerio Alves, said last week that the couple were still motivated by the belief she was alive.

Portugal’s attorney general reopened the investigation last week at the request of the country’s policia judiciaria — more than five years after it was closed.

Correio da Manha claimed: “Police suspicions about the former Ocean Club employee arose during the review of the case carried out by a PJ team from Porto.

“This was the strongest new lead presented to state prosecutors which led to the investigation being reopened. The man, who died aged 40 in a tractor accident in 2009, was not on the list of employees handed over to police during the initial investigation by the Ocean Club because at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance he was not working there.”

It described his departure from the Ocean Club as “fractious” and added: “The motives that could have caused the ex-employee to kidnap the youngster are still being investigated.

“The suspect could have taken the child to commit a sex crime before killing her.

“But he could also have committed the kidnap as a form of retaliation against the Ocean Club. His aim could have been to call into question the security of the holiday club but something went wrong and the youngster disappeared.”

Portuguese police declined to comment on the report today.

How very convenient, good job everyone, case closed.

I still cant make sense of how the media are handling this.At the very least, the McCann's should STILL be held to account for leaving three young infants alone every night of their holiday and there's an overwhelming case for neglect charges being brought. Then you find out they've been holding on to evidence for 5 years which could have helped the case and threatened to take legal action against anyone who dared to challenge the Tanner sighting. It's absolutely bizarre how the media are dancing to their tune without addressing the very serious unanswered questions in this case.

It's not as if the media are shy in these type of cases, yet there's something very strange going on regarding this particular case.

Mark Sloan, who has starred in such films as Sherlock Bones and Tight Rider, played the part of Matthew Oldfield, one of the ‘Tapas Seven’ who enjoyed a meal with Kate and Gerry McCann on the night Madeleine went missing.

The BBC is really going into overdrive now!!Sherlock BonesCry

surely there must be some conspiracy theory about the tractor accident

did the masons get him, or was it prince phillip on the anniversary of dianas accident

or did he just turn it over having hit a grassy knoll ?
