"No evidence of an abduction at all despite the parents being adamant plus a six year plus campaign but no concrete evidence against the parents either but all their inconsistencies in their statements and of their friends just leaves the circumstantial evidence so it looks like this will go down as a case that will never be solved"
Exactly. There is no real proper evidence of anything. It's a perfect crime, one that will quite likely never be solved. |

Within weeks the police story changed dramatically. It has emerged at the Lisbon libel case, and linked hearings, that both Portuguese detectives and British police who were helping the investigation suddenly suspected that Madeleine had died at the apartment and that her death had been covered up by her parents.
More disturbingly, evidence given at the hearings by some of Portugal’s most senior policemen peddles that deeply wounding view even today. For example, Chief Inspector Tavares de Almeida has said: ‘The conclusion… was that the McCann couple simulated the abduction to hide the fact that they had not taken care of their children. ‘There was a tragic accident in the apartment that night and they neglected the care of their children. It was the conclusion of both the Portuguese and British police. We have always spoken of a tragic accidental death. There was no murder. The McCanns did not kill her, but concealed the body.’ He added that the controversial book by his police colleague was a ‘true history of facts’, closely based on the actual Portuguese police files: thousands of pages, recordings and film, including the statements of the so-called Tapas Seven, other witnesses at Praia da Luz and forensic evidence. Mr de Almeida claims that suspicions about the McCanns appeared to be confirmed when sniffer dogs, brought from Britain, found traces of blood and the ‘smell of death’ in the McCanns’ holiday apartment. In evidence at the libel trial last week, Luis Neves, head of the Portuguese organised crime and kidnapping unit, went further. He said it was the British police who ‘first developed the theory’ that Madeleine had died at the apartment. I have discovered that this has been confirmed in diplomatic correspondence sent by the US ambassador to Portugal, Al Hoffman, to the US government about a meeting with his British counterpart, Alexander Wykeham Ellis, four months after Madeleine’s disappearance and just after the McCanns were temporarily made suspects by the Portuguese. Views: Goncalo Amaral was originally in charge of the investigation into the disappearance Madeleine and has been supported by his colleagues who say the book is a 'true history of facts' Hoffman said in the cable, marked confidential: ‘Ellis admitted that the British police had developed the current evidence against the McCann parents, and he stressed that authorities from both countries were working co-operatively.’ Of course, the claims have been trenchantly dismissed by the McCanns. Through their trusted spokesman Clarence Mitchell, the couple say the diplomatic cable is ‘historical’ stuff which no longer has any bearing on their worldwide search for Madeleine. It's strange that the press here in Britain and the McCanns slate the Portuguese police for making them suspects/arguidos when it was the British police who originally implicated them. |

Forgive me if this has been brought up but were they regular visitors to the area and therefore felt safe? If not leaving everything open (apartment) is suspect.
Im getting more sceptical about their credibility every minute reading some of this! |

The uk gov appointed Clarence mitchell to be the McCanns media rep ...check it all out .
Did the McCanns ever sue over the allegations he was not the father ? check out what happened to the DNA evidence report from the Birmingham forensic lab . check out all the times the McCanns said they were going to sue various Portuguese papers over various allegations and how many they did sue ,they had the best legal team money could buy. Check out how the McCanns were able to do this, check out the difference with Ben Needham and Madelaine McCann in consular help from the uk gov .The McCanns were quickly able to connect directly with the then gov and get unprecedented help ,at a point in the investigation a Portuguese Judge wanted to come to Britain and conduct further interviews in the uk ,at this point things changed ...the investigation into the McCanns was in effect over.Check out the way the media was handled and things directed .Frightening imo . This aspect needs an investigation in light of the way things turned out with Murdoch and co . Absolutely scary stuff .Wasting your time trying to work out what happened to the poor kid but sift through the operation to suppress any suggestion of foul play and a very worrying picture becomes very clear . landmark case in the history of the media imo . Who set up the meeting with the pope ? was it the Uk GOV ? That was the minute it was over imo .But who set that meeting up ? They got to the top and very quickly how was that done ? |

....and initially the Mcanns said they were willing to take a lie detector test but when asked to do so refused, with Clarence Mitchell stating they don't need to because they are innocent!
The judicial law which prevented them answering questions from the police obviously didn't stretch to them propagating their 'abducted' theories or continually changing tact re patios, door being ajar, windows etc as one by one, seemingly, each of their 'thories' was disproven! Why would innocent people only do interviews with prepared questions? Why do the Mcanns show classic symptoms of telling fibs when asked challenging questions with impromptu scratches of ears, noses, not looking the interviewer in the eye... |

Kate and Gerry McCann got rather more than tea and sympathy from everything British despite the British police, originally, implicating them in the 'abduction' of their daughter. Since the disappearance of their daughter in May, 2007, they have received, effectively, the assistance and attentions of, seemingly, the entire British Government, including the personal administrations of not one, nor two; but THREE British Prime Ministers, no less!
Tony Blair, just weeks before his stepping down, ensured that the McCanns had a whole TEAM of diplomats to assist them in the early days, and bizarrely even dispatched Sheree Dodd described by the ‘TIMES’ newspaper as a “long-serving senior spokeswoman for the Government”. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office announced that she was being deployed as “press officer responsible to act as media liaison officer for the McCann family”. Why the family of a missing child NEEDS a Media and Press Liaison officer was never properly explained. Newspaper reports at the time show communications, advice and assistance being provided by then Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett and subsequently by HER replacement David Miliband. Kerry Needham, for example, whose son BEN went missing in Kos in 1991, effectively got little more than a cup of tea and some sympathetic words from the British Consulate. She has been on record as stating that although she was appointed a wonderful Liaison Officer from South Yorkshire Police, she has effectively spent the past twenty years, fighting, ALONE, to keep her son’s disappearance in the public eye. Ironically, it is only recently, in light of developments in the McCann case, that she has received any worthwhile attention or response at all, to her letters and pleas for assistance. Even from the early stages of this case, before being appointed in his full time role as the McCann's spokesman in September 2007, the fragrant, ubiquitous and ridiculously contrived CLARENCE MITCHELL was involved. Mitchell’s previous specialty, (for the entirely uninitiated in this case), was spying on, fabricating and shaping public opinion on anything and everything for the Government’s ‘Media Monitoring Unit’. This unit, encompassed by the Governments Central Office of Information, helps to: “drive best practice and cost effectiveness in the way citizens are informed, engaged and influenced about issues that affect their lives “. No doubt being a freemason brings friends in, very, high places. |

According to reports, one key error that led to the McCanns being declared suspects was made by Britain’s own Forensic Science Service.
The report, from the Portuguese authorities and which was leaked, states that the Policia Judiciaria, Portugal’s criminal investigation department, was told, by the British Forensic Science Service that DNA evidence found in the couple’s hire car, on the window sill of their holiday apartment and in the car park of the apartment complex, belonged to Madeleine. The document claims that it was given categorically as her DNA and as a result the McCanns were questioned and later made suspects. But, one month later, in an unprecedented legal turnaround, the forensic service wrote another report saying that it could not be 100% sure that those findings were correct”. |

http://textusa.blogspot.pt/2013/10/uk-crimewatch-discrepancies-i.html That's a very interesting article. I don't get discrepancy 4 though. "Scotland Yard has unwittingly debunked one the biggest tear-jerkers from the McCann propaganda machine: the last photo. UK Crimewatch only shows the obvious: horizontal patterns produce horizontal reflections." |

To this day, many reports from the time, including SKY News’s Martin Brunt, still exist, stating that a MATCH to Madeleine McCanns DNA was ascertained, relating to material unearthed by the specialist dogs.
The reports at the time all verify the accuracy of the match, SKY News reporting a 100% Match, as did reports in the Telegraph, Times and other newspapers. It is unequivocal that the Birmingham Forensic Science Services, reputed to be the BEST in the world, the “'vanguard of forensic science technology that has an unrivalled reputation for the integrity, impartiality and accuracy of its findings”; DID, in its initial reports and statements made to the Portuguese, state that a match to Madeleine McCann’s DNA profile HAD been made. For reasons best known to itself, and for which it has never fully explained, a month subsequent to its initial report, and AFTER the McCanns had returned back to the UK, the FSS released a NEW statement, asserting that the tests were inconclusive, not 100%, after all. In the research that has subsequently been conducted, it has not been possible to have been able to unearth another single example amongst the innumerable cases that they have handled where the Forensic Science Services changed their mind. Not a single one. |

Since the early hours of Madeleine’s disappearance, right up to the publication of Kate’s book, the McCanns and their representatives have perpetuated a myth whereby the Portuguese effectively bungled and botched the whole investigation, affording very little, if any, assistance to the McCanns, even failing to conduct the most basic of searches or enquiries.
However, in the report, the one that the McCanns insist is ACCURATE, it:- illustrates and demonstrates the huge and hardworking efforts made by the Police Authorities and the Portuguese people to try and find Madeleine, including securing the apartment, roadblocks, house to house searches and an account of all the intelligence and sightings that passed through their offices. The McCanns media machine has put the spotlight on Goncalo Amoral being a liar and totally unreliable and his book being libel yet matters are even more clouded because the man in charge of the MET review, Sir Paul Stephenson, resigned after allegations of corruption and bribery relating to senior members of the Metropolitan police force. Those “bungling, boozy, inept Porto plod” aren't alone but the British public seem easily able to discard this matter but focus on Amoral. |

He was kicked off but all his findings were found to be correct, there was no evidence whatsoever of an abduction, he looked into the Jane Tanner statement and found it to be inconsistent, which the British police now agree with despite the McCanns detectives spending six years focusing on this, and it was the British police that implicated the McCanns not him, Goncalo Amoral, he just put to the McCanns the findings of the British police.
I could understand it if Goncalo Amoral had made the accusations with no evidence, just a hunch, but the British police provided the PJ with the evidence to make the McCanns arguidos but then, as has been proven, in an unprecedented move changed their findings to 'not 100%' leaving the McCanns and their team with a scapegoat because of previous misdemeanours. |

Buzzer. Are all these posts your own assessment of events? If they are not, then it would be rather nice of you to post details of their origin. It could well be that all of your observations and 'facts' are simply the product of a third party with an ulterior motive. They may simply be assertions.

Instead, Mr Amoral claims that Madeleine died at the resort and her parents staged a cover-up.
In his book in which he made millions, it was his investigation and he came to that conclusion based on no hard evidence, what kind of cop profits from the death of a 3 year old girl |

He didn't come to that conclusion the British police did only to change their minds, for the one and only time, one month later. The little girls parents have used the fund to make mortgage payments and changed the fund purposes after this was found to be the case. The full objects of the Fund are: To secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann who was abducted in Praia da Luz, Portugal on Thursday 3rd May 2007; To procure that Madeleine's abduction is thoroughly investigated and that her abductors, as well as those who played or play any part in assisting them, are identified and brought to justice; and To provide support, including financial assistance, to Madeleine's family. |
