While swimming recently the Mrs told me that when she was younger her dad used to put something in the water that turned it purple if anyone pi$$ed in it. I hadn't the heart to set her right. Absolutely brilliant UTC I've got one like that indoors too ![]() Signing in for the seconds out club. |

In the early 1960's my dad would watch the latest news reports on tv about the civil war in the Congo. I was only 7/8 years old at the time and would be sitting in the corner of the room playing with my toys. I could hear on the tv that Government troops had killed 40 guerrillas and I thought they were actually killing gorillas.

On Halloween as kids we went trick or treating but I thought it was 'trickle treating'. It was years later before I realised.
Watching ITV's Big Match on Sundays with my dad I was amazed how good he was at predicting the score!! He didn't let on for a couple of seasons! |

When I was 9 I wrote to the council requesting planning permission (lived on greenbelt land) to build an underground air-raid shelter in my garden. As well as the letter I also made "blueprints" which I printed out on my dot matrix. A few weeks later I received a reply saying that permission was denied on the grounds that they don't want our current enemies to think we're planning for war. In my late 20s I found out that the reply was fake. My parents never posted my application. They typed a letter, cut out the council logo from a real letter and glued it on and then photocopied it so the whole thing was seamless and looked real.
