I used to think that my mum was a prostitute and that Peter Sutcliffe was after her.

^I didn`t know what a prostitute was at the time but had heard it off the news. It showed them walking the streets in the dark and my mum worked nights at a hospital.

I used to believe the horizon was ca 26 miles away, a popular misconception.

Yes but I thought it was 21 miles.

As Alan Davies said on QI, "it's always 21 miles isn't it?"

I wonder if the misconception comes from the fact that the English Channel is about 21 miles wide at its narrowest and you can see the coast of France from Dover

I thought Boy George was a woman

So did I when video jukeboxes first came out. Sad I was in a pub in the Hackney Road with some mates, who had spiked my orange juices with vodka, and took great delight in telling all and sundry in the working mens club that weekend that I said 'I love a tall bird. I'd give that a length of me beef lance.'  Shocked
