hasnt nobody ever heard Argus by wishbone ash...Blowin Free, The King will come, Warrior, even the ex wife rated this album! Excellent album - have seen them a couple of times at a small venue near me - they brought out a new version of the album recorded 'live' in a small American radio station, where they played the entire album live, and a few other tracks. Boguth it at the concert and got the CD signed by Andy Powell too. |

joci, argus was so good it was the beginning of the end for them, they couldnt better it and soon the original line up Powell, Upton and the 2 Turners split up.A great shame, ive seen them many times in various line ups but none beats the original.Be nice if they reformed and did Argus again...

I remember seeing them many years (early 80s?) ago in a bbc tv concert, and thought the twin guitars were brilliant (think the line up was Andy Powell and Laurie Wisefield)?
Did some other great tracks though, with a couple of my favourites being Way of the World and F.U.B.B |

Yes The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk from 1986, this band was so underrated and way ahead of their time, they did perfect pop in there early years with "Today and "Its My Life" and moved on ending up as one of the most influential bands of their era with Coldplay/Radiohead ripping them off big time from 1988's "Spirit Of Eden"

Is anyone else checking out any of the albums they haven't heard?
I listened to The Human League - Dare tonight, and it's good. It's been sampled like feck, you can play spot the rip off, it's deffo influential. I still can't have Phil Oakey though, I just can't warm to his singing. I'm going to give another one a go tomorrow morning. I might try Slint as suggested by Texas Pete, I listened to it over 10 years ago when members of Mogwai kept mentioning it in interviews, I loved post-rock and wanted to like it but I wasn't keen back then, I'll see if I've changed. |

Thoroughly enjoyable, pity about the lack of year 2000 onwards. (CCRevival's 'Cosmo's Factory' has some stunning songs and deserves wider recognition Never appears on those 'Greatest...' lists as does the band) |
