Anything over £3.50 at the moment annoys me, but really it should be lower than that.
By:
£3.50 borders on sodomy
shouldn't be over £2.50 imo |
By:
If you've only got 99p, £1 is expensive

What's average in Sheffield Owl? I'm guessing it's a bit lower than in or around London prices.
By:

obviously wetherspoons lot cheaper |
By:
You don't realise how lucky you are, well cheap. A pint cost me £4 yesterday, i was looking for coppers on the floor to help me pay for it.

Paris !

By:
I must admit the pubs in the town i live in are struggling at the moment. You can definately see why.
By:
£4.40 is obscene
feckin criminal |
By:
Motherwell fans were struggling to get a pint under £5 when they were in Odense this week.
By:
Paris is shockingly expensive. Nice city but you pay through the nose when you are there.
By:
you can understand profit and overheads but for something that costs less than £1 at source then they are now taking advantage.
By:
all of france is exopensie as is sweden. i begrudge the 3 30 odd it is in london at least!
By:
£2.50 is expensive in Liverpool
By:
You can easily pay £6+ a pint in Copenhagen, and the worrying thing is the Swedes come over as they see this as something of a bargain!

Mate paid £8 for a shot in Oslo

12 euros for a bottle of beer in the superclubs in Ibiza

15 quid for 2 pints of fosters in dubai airport

Why thank you owls
For a pint of lager, you can get one at weatherspoons for £1.29 so judging on that and my local price of £1.89 id say £2.30 would be the limit, im off into central london next weekend and if its above that price i will drink half and then walk out without paying, ill get back to you on the prices it cost me down there |
By:
i honestly try not to think about it when i have a night out these days.. i just take a couple of hundred or my card and hope im not wincing too much in the morning..

By:
Paid £2.80 for 1/2 Leffe yesterday in a trendy Taunton Brasserie. I was pretty shocked but then I realised I'd have paid that for a decent coffee without a problem.
By:
some tight barstards pon this fred. Anything less than £3.50 for a pint in London is a bargain. For those that seem unaware, pubs do have costs other than the beer they sell, and these have to be covered or the pub doesn't exist. You should all be drinking ale anyway, not Carling you chavvy fu(kers. [:p]

Anything less than £3.50 for a pint in London is a bargain
£3.50 is way too much mate i know pubs have overheads other than stock some prices are just crazy now |
By:
once spent £55 on three drinks(2 large g&t`s, 1 kahlua & coke)
still have nightmares. |
By:
The cut-off point for drinks, for me:
Pint £2.80 Alcopop £1.00 (Needless to say, I don't drink these) Shot £1.00 (Very rarely these) Cocktail £3.50 (Same) What I find baffling is people who are happy to pay £3.00 for a 330ml bottle of Kronenbourg when they could have 568ml (a pint) for less, in the same pub. |
By:
yeah that is strange
By:
Some pints taste like dishwater, chemicals, watered down? Maybe a reason for bottles.
By:
A fair point. Generally though I don't find the standard to be too horrific to make it a bad idea.
By:
Was £3.70 a pint this weekend at the v festival,a bit steep i thought
By:
>£2.50 for single spirit & mixer
>£3 for lager >£2.50 for bitter imvho |
By:
above £3.40 is overboard imo.
£3.30 and under I'll happily pay. less than three quid is rare these days, but I hardly ever go to the pub anymore. |
By:
i dont go the pub anymore, modern day robin hood thieving barstewards....imo
By:
I wouldn't say that Dan. they offer a price and it is up to the punter whether or not they pay it. Nothing thieving about it. Lots of pubs going under every week, so I think a lot of them are struggling and the overheads are real (need to turnover a fk of a lot to cover sky rental).
By:
Can get a pint of Deuchar's real ale for £1.99 a pint near here. £2.40 for most real ales.

I think part of it is that the landlord has to understand that if you're notmaking loads of money then you have to work the bar yourself. My local is a lovely pub, but I know he is struggling - but he must pay £500+/week in wages. A bit of help now and then is no doubt necessary, but he has two full time bar staff and others that I see in there now and again. I'm afraid being a landlord is hard work and a lot of hours. That is a disadvantage. The advantage is you work for yourself and you have no travel to work, and well at the end of the day there are plenty of worse jobs than working behind a bar. But you have to put the hours in, that's my two penneth.
