Marvellous. First quiz in a year, we get a golf question. Arnold Palmer dies the day before, and we get asked about bleeding Pythagoras.

How many majors did he win?

I can't remember, except it wasn't 'How many more majors did the King win than Greek mathematician Pythagoras'?

Only joking, it was great to 'see' many of the old quiz regulars.

You hit the ball from the tee, but slice it.  It travels due north, 200 yards.

When it comes to rest, the ball is 210 yards due west of the hole.

How far is it, in yards,  from tee to hole?

Easter's only sulking because he didn't get time to copy it.

Thanks franzi - Not that tricky really, It just looks like it should have been.

I really enjoyed that, bloody lovely to see so many there, only a few missing. Just like the old days.
As Mik D'hag says, it shows how many people look at the forum still, even though they're not posting much.

I suppose there are people who will recognise 20, 21 and 29 as a Pythagorean triple.

A good time was had by all, Study, thanks for putting it on.

Three numbers where the squares of the first two added together make the square of the largest one.  Like 3, 4, 5 or 5, 12, 13.  Or 20, 21, 29.

It reminds me of the question I once asked:

"How long is the straight edge of the "D" on the edge of the penalty area on a full size football pitch?"
