Can someone do me a favour, please?
I did 2010 monthly Playlists and listed the 20 songs and artists on the following posts of mine: 28/1 (22:25) 19/2 (22:00) 29/3 (17:44) 11/4 (20:00) Can someone confirm that these have been severely shortened with all the info disappearing? If so, why would this have happened? |

looks truncated to me. Would be just a guess as to why, but long links have been truncated on the new forum.
Could also have been part of the migration. They would "cleanse" the old data of any data that might cause issues on the new forum. |

For those who don't have a Spotify invite, I believe there's a new basic service free for anyone |

Previously all new users had to be sent an invite by an existing Spotify user to sign up to the service. However, now under Spotify Open, new users can create an account without an invite code, but if they intend upon not paying for the service, their listening hours will be capped to 20 hours per month which, according to Spotify, equates to 25 albums or 300 tracks.
These users will still be exposed to advertising and if they want to continue using the service after reaching their cap, they now have two payment options. They can either sign up to Spotify Premium, which costs £9.99 a month, offers offline mode and gives unlimited access to the service either through a mobile or PC without any adverts. This option has been in existence since Spotify launched. Is free content really the iron law of the internet?Or users can choose a new payment option announced today called: Spotify Unlimited, which costs £4.99 a month and offers an advert-free, all-you-can-listen-to service. However, unlike Spotify Premium, users who sign up for this option cannot access their Spotify music on the move via their mobiles or their library in offline mode. Existing Spotify users, who do not pay for the service, will not have their time capped. Nor is the company suspending the invitation service. Users who sign up with an invite code will not have their music consumption capped. The service is continuing to add invitations to premium users’ accounts and free users are still able to issue invites to non-users. “We’re really excited to offer more choices for users and existing users who are happy with their current plan won’t be affected by these updates,” said Andres Sehr, Spotify’s global community manager on the company’s blog. The full range of user options has been clearly mapped out by the company on its site. The new pricing structure resembles that of We7, a British streaming service, which launched a two-tier plan in January 2010. Last month Spotify upgraded its service with the addition of several significant social features, including a ‘Spotify Music Profile’ and Facebook friend integration tool. The service has also rolled out in Holland, in addition to the UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland and France. |

Checked for Kathy Kirby - indeed there's nothing - it's probably dependent on who owns her publishing rights at the moment and for agreement to be reached. There seems to be many pre-1960s songs on there, so they should eventually be on a belated thanks for that  |

They tick all the mega-stadium boxes I prefer the older stuff like Voyage 34 and The Sky Moves Sideways. Saw them a couple of years ago in a smallish venue in London where they were excellent. Also went to see Steven Wilson in one of his other incarnations, Blackfield too. |

Timeless. 2/ ‘Where Do I Begin?’ – The Chemical Brothers (Ft. Beth Orton) (Dig Your Own Hole 1997) ‘Morning after, the night before’ song. Brilliant ‘lost’ track from an excellent album. Mellow vocals from Beth Orton. 3/ ‘The Glockenspiel Song’ – Dog Is Dead (Debut Single 2010) Hailing from Nottingham, this promising band debut with an interesting, well-crafted song, this past month. Indie-Pop with a touch of jazz. ‘....We are a mess, we are failures and we love it.....’ 4/ ‘Yes We Can’ – Lee Dorsey (Yes We Can 1970) The sound of New Orleans Funk from the Seventies. Wonderful backing band is The Meters. He ended his touring days opening for The Clash! 5/ ‘You’re The Best’ – Joe ‘Bean’ Esposito (The Karate Kid OST 1984) As the 2010 remake hits the cinema screens this summer, here’s the inspirational track, from the ending of the original film. 6/ ‘Calliope House / The Cowboy Jig Melody’ – Alasdair Fraser (The Road North 1989) Nothing wrong with a trad-Irish jig. Apart from it’s not traditional and it’s not Irish. Tenuous The Waterboys connection if anyone knows it? 7/ ‘Good Riddance – Time Of Your Life (Live) – Green Day (Bullet In A Bible 2005) Live concert-closer version of the popular Green Day song. It’s about life moving on, as an episode closes. 8/ ‘The Best Of Jill Hives’ – Guided By Voices (Earthquake Glue 2003) The last ever single from Guided By Voices and it’s a cracker. Brief, polished guitar pop. Indecipherable lyrics. 9/ ‘Blind’ – Hercules And Love Affair (Hercules And Love Affair 2008) The lead singer from Antony And The Johnsons lends a touch of class to this brilliant retro-Dance track, from a couple of years ago. Bizarrely only reached No.40 in the Top 40 here. 10/ ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ – Elton John (Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 1973) Always been intrigued by the meandering lyrics - http://www.eltonography.com/songs/goodbye_yellow_brick_road.html - and imagery of Bernie Taupin in this song, the title track of Elton John’s biggest album. Band and arrangement are top class too. 11/ ‘Isn’t Life Strange?’ – The Moody Blues (Seventh Sojourn 1972) As well as ‘Nights In White Satin’, this Birmingham group were a major albums band, with complex and orchestral songs. This flute-led single came from their huge US No.1 album. 12/ ‘California (Tchad Blake Remix)’ – Phantom Planet (The Guest 2002) Theme tune to ‘The O.C.’ apparently, which may or may not be a good thing. It’s about driving to concert in California. 13/ ‘Brass In Pocket’ – The Pretenders (Pretenders 1980) Indecipherable (again), baffling lyrics didn’t stop this deservedly reaching No.1. (What is ‘Detroit leaning’?) Fantastic, empowered vocals, as ever, from the so special, Chrissie Hynde 14/ ‘Lean On Me (Ah-Li-Ayo)’ – Red Box (The Circle And The Square 1986) One of those cr@p 80s songs, that is a bit of an anthem and tends to annoyingly stick in your head, once you’ve heard it. 15/ ‘Love Vibration’ – Josh Rouse (1972 2003) Josh Rouse wrote this excellent album, in the style of the music, that was around in the year he was born. Hence the album’s title. Groovy and catchy track. 16/ ‘Days Of Fire (Ft. Natty)’ – Nitin Sawhney (London Undersound 2008) Understated, well-crafted song describing the 7/7 London Bombings, which were 5 years ago this month 17/ ‘Miss Misery’ – Elliott Smith (Good Will Hunting OST 1997) From smalltown America to a smash-hit film, to standing (uncomfortably) on the Oscars stage in front of stars and celebrities - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaEh2RKCDPc – at least this rendition isn’t butchered by an OTT Hollywood orchestra. 18/ ‘Afternoon Delight’ – Starland Vocal Band (Starland Vocal Band 1976) About sex in the afternoon, of course. Memorably, from ‘Good Will Hunting’ also. Neat harmonies (as they’d say in 70s wholesome teen-America) 19/ ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ – The Stone Roses (The Stone Roses 1989) Still possibly one of the best opening tracks to an album, as each instrument and vocals enters every few bars or so, after the eerie ghost-train feedback 20/ ‘Hooting And Howling’ – Wild Beasts (Two Dancers 2009) This track from (my choice of) possible Mercury Prize Winner album.
