I appreciate you think I am either fishy or being to ott with this. I would like to say though that if well took the laid back approach then what the hell would we all do if it does turn into a Pandemic. You telling me we wait for the green light that says GO GO GO it's a pandemic? We should and are already putting precautions in place, Afte rthe bird-flu outbreak we became more aware of these types of things and therefore we are now in a better situation if it does turn into a Pandemic. If it turns out to be a false alarm then it's not all bad because we will be a much better situation than we would of been two weeks ago. It's about awareness and people need to be aware how serious this is at present and how serious it can get. The big big big thing about today is the tests results of the 9 friends of the two Scots. We need to becareful this may become just a mild case of flu for now but it could come back in Winter and be more fierce. Looking at history of these types of things it may well do. So we need to be prepared NOW. |

If the disease is only restricted to pork, then you will pay the price if you're a fussy eater.

I think you'll find the Cricket trading is the MOST important thing today..asopposed to the results of 9 drunken scots.

It's not a case of taking a laid back approach, it's a case of reacting appropriately to the information and expert advice given. You're not actually DOING anything other than trying to get people on here to panic about it. If you genuinely believe the dangers are being under-represented by the media (that'd be a first!) then take them to task, but demanding, on a gambling forum, that drastic measures are taken against WHO advice, isn't really going to impress anyone, or change anything.

By this you mean when they said it's still safe to travel to Mexico then within 24hrs advised against travelling to Mexico which then made the likes of Thomas Cook cancel all flights? Which is what I said should of happend on Monday if you had read my post on that day. What other advice am I going against/ Tell me please? |

please don't confuse preparedness with hysteria and scaremongering.
You're not really helping people, i know you're trying to alert people by sounding a fog horn on the subject, but this is rather like a vegeatrian posting on a fillet steak appreciation society forum. It's becoming a bit bit old and nothing you can say will really turn peoples opinions. Have you also considered that some people don't want to know all the gorey details of this, some people are just as scared as you are, perhaps more so, and ramming hysterical news flashes down their throats is making things worse. Old people like DOWAHDIDDY will panic even more and it could really affect their state of mind and adding confusion into the mix. you'll probably respod with something like "you don't have to read my threads" but when you're shouting from the roof tops it's rather hard not to hear. I worry that you'll turn into one of these doorstepers who fortell the end of the world. I think we all appreciate your interest in this matter and glad that someone is taking an interest, but i would ask you to please calm down slightly. You're starting to worry people |

YES YES YES....

Isn't this story getting completely out of hand.
There are only 7 confirmed deaths in Mexico. There was 20 but retests have since rejected 13 of those. There are an imaginary 159 deaths from swine flu from the media (people with vested interest in their jobs) and the likes of Arnie declaring a state of emergency in California (again self publicity). Christ they are even going to send a leaflet to every home in UK. How did we ever win the war with this lot of freaks running things! |
|
By:
Um, obviously, all the stuff about quarantining people and sealing borders.
Why become so attached to a news item anyway? Although it pains me to believe that anyone can have a life so empty they would dedicate several days to pretending to be a bit mental, I am rather tending to that view now. |

Get your head out the sand and wiind your neck in. I persoanlly don't like reading posts by grown men talking about how big and smell a womens minge maybe, but unfortunately I have to read that. Deal with, like it or lump. I have done nothing wrong at all, I;m just bring awareness to people. If it means some people might actually start washing there hands it's a start. |

I don't think Gordon Brown was prime minister during the 1939-1945 conflicts.
Perhaps wikipedia could confirm this for you? |

Are people not cabable of finding out this information for themselves?
finding out that 7 people HAVENT got flu is not news. I can name you 70 people that also don't have flu. Does this make my story 10 times more INTERSTING as NEWS? why do i get the horrible feeling this is all going to appear in a private eye special on sad gamblers |

That should ease your fears Cath... vaccinnes going up to 50 million... we're saved!!!!

Here we go. Cath22 may have the last laugh. First non mexican death, more UK cases confirmed, its spreading and its fatal. Mexican goverment trying to play it down down cause its killing their economy. We are in the cover-up stage.
|
|
By:
Do only positive thing so far since this started is the 9 family/friends of the Scots couple had there tests come back negative. This doesn't mean that in other cases it won't start to spread 2nd phase but w e must see that as a small positive at present.
|
|
By:
*the only positive*
|
|
By:
yes, the best way of covering something up is 24 hour saturation news coverage.
It's spreading, yes, although hardly ripping through society, and it's been fatal to ONE person, a baby, outside of Mexico. |
