There has been - Yet again - much money made on the back of this scaremongering.
Chemists and Supermarkets have been selling 'Swine flu kits' - comprising; disinfectant, hand wpes, tissues. Stuff which they ordinarily wouldn't sell much of, which can now be sold for more money, to the gullible who have been fooled into thinking they need it. Also how much money has been wasted by government agencies, and made by advertising companies? Unfortunately there are plenty of people like cath22 (who may well be otherwise quite lovely, but is misguided) :( |

The press and tv have been getting worse and worse every year for a long time now. It's why parents are afraid to let their children play out even though stats tell us there are no more dangers now than there were 20 or even 50 yrs ago.
The same with swine flu, news reports showing clips of other countries all masked up. The more they can stoke peoples fears, on any subject, the more readers / viewers they attract. B Charlie is right, you have to see past the scaremongering and make your decisions based on facts as I believe I said on page 1 ;) |

Well it was only a matter of time, most of us knew that. Everyone took the view "HERE WE GO AGAIN" and took it with a pinch of salt. It's a shame that the first death here will be the early warning signs to some to take this thing more seriously. For example, Saturday I went to the coast. I had to use a public toilet, as the roll mops I had were a bit dody..long story.....Anyway two young women came into the toilets aswell, did there stuff, one even broke wind as she was peeing, and they walked out without washing there hands after. they said my mrs had swine flu. gave her tamiflu. i told her not to take it so she didnt. she was ill for 3/4 days with no more than the usual flu symptoms. so you may not be far off the mark history maker

I have some sympathy with the right-wing threads as there are issues this country has failed to address, but those (and it wasn't just this poster) who continually tried to exaggerate the threat deserves nothing but contempt. Well it was only a matter of time, most of us knew that. I feel really sad and sorry for the friends and family. I also feel really sorry for anyone that has a medical condition and are in fear of cathing swine-flu. what would freud make of this? |
