Flu? Fu.cking flu? If all you've got to worry about is a bit of green sh!t spat in a tissue and a general feeling of weakness, you ought to be grateful. I'll give you flu.

I was told by surgery that although I am eligible, (breathing compromised) they are priorotising pregnant women at the moment as they are iin the highest risk group. Fair enough :)

I think the injection will cause more trouble than it cures. I know 3 people who have had it and all 3 now have breathing problems which they have never had before.

My little girl was diagnosed with it on Friday. Doctor said it was definitely flu and very likely H1N1 (based on the sheer number of cases reported). That didn't sound very scientific to me at the time, but you take doctors at their word so I've been very worried for the last few days. She was ill Friday, Sat, Sun, and Monday - with no improvement but no worsening either, then yesterday she was getting better, and again a little better today. I'm keeping her off school for the whole week to be safe, but I'm thinking it's probably the regular flu she got here (which she's never had).
The worst part is the not knowing for sure.

99% of people recover, platini. which is more than is the case of "normal" flu
By:
wur
When: 04 Nov 09 14:12
Doubt it. Over 90% of flu cases are swine flu at this time. Like the doctors said.

Worst case scenario for the winter has known been reduced to 1,000 deaths. Just look after your girl as you normally would, and don't worry, it's a relatively mild illness.

My nephew has it. I suppose the other nephew and the niece will get it now, then their parents. My mrs is going there tomorrow night. She may be banished from here for a week.

Panic over; it now appears to be on the decrease however, just to keep the pot bubbling for a week longer we've now been told that this could be because of half-term holidays. Either way, it doesn't appear to be as bad as first thought. Good news Cath eh?

I've never met anyone so hell**on spouting so much drivel as this Cath bird. I can't actually convey how nutty she comes across, yet keeps plodding on with her "facts" and "stats".

Only ever answers with some humourless comment or a quote on the topic from Heat magazine.

It would be a great comedy sketch if it wasn't so melancholic. Batty Betty charachter or what!

The internet is a marvellous thing, on many levels, but it has the odd downside, illustrated in this case by a few people determined to exaggerate a threat for whatever tragic reason. Looking back, I'm glad cath, wur and others who did so were treated with such derision.

It was weird stuff Muntz, my life ain't all that good, but some of the attempts to frighten people this year were truly tragic. How BAD does your life have to be when you feel the need to distort the news to scare people.
