Cath22,

why are you so worried about swine flu, as oppossed to other causes of death and illness?

So far the number of British deaths from swine flu is very small, under 50 in roughly 2-3 months.

Why aren't you more concerned about illnesses which can be prevented? And which kill an awful lot more people than swine flu has.

Illnesses from alochol, smoking and obesity are far more prevelant, the evidence of there deadly effects, far greater and the preventative measures, much simpler.

Why don't you concern yourself with these more than swine flu?

The Department of Health and The Foreign Office

Where on the FCO Swine Flu advice section does it say you should stay in the foreign country if you develop flu-like symptoms?

I'm a British national abroad, so I'd appreciate your informed advice.

It may give me an excuse to stay here! :)

As from travelling home from abroad, what the Gvt advice says is:

Going on holiday
If you have swine flu, do not travel until after your symptoms have stopped.

Which is hardly rocket science or in some way frightening.

Will mutate when those who have been infected already, take the "vaccine" Human petri dishes. The new mutated virus will then have the kill factor.

(IMO) :)

Sorry but not really, you'll be suprised how many people actually travel even though they are ill.

Of the highest dangers look to be pregnant women, and now even The National Childbirth Trust advise to delay any plans to have babies if at all possible.

So Gents, I'd advics your lady friend to be on the pill and also for safety measure you could dunky yourself up also.

A representative of the NCT was on Channel 4 News at lunchtime recanting that little bit of advice Cath.

not quite the same as:

we are now being told that if you develop symptons whilst on holiday abroad you are to stay there and not travel home before you are cleared

is it.

this virus is more likely to mutate simply due to the estimated numbers who will catch it (1 in 3?)

this increases the chances of someone with (for example) Bird Flu catching Swine Flu and a nasty mutation occuring.

even on it's own, the virus changes as it transfers between people. this is why there is a chance that it will become resistant to Tamiflu etc. In it's current form this might not be too much of a problem.

what is all this nonsense about??

i dont understand what is different to dying from pig flu or getting hit by a car?? i think this is just a natural sign that there are too many humans on the planet..

the worse virus i see everywhere is ignorance..it spreads everywhere in an instant...the worse effect ignorance has is it breeds the subsequent need to prove oneself right..and provide a profound answer which "saves the world"

there are too many humans we dont live as we are meant to & feed our selves with food that has no life & expect shops to keep stocking such rubbish...

its little wonder people get ill..i've had this flu twice this year both times when i forget where i am & fall into the modern delusion that all these shops, streets, & cars everywhere are normal things on earth...and forget to eat fresh vegetables, fruit & only the bare minimum of meat..this is the only way to remain healthy in this day & age...

get real..

there is only 50kms of atmosphere between you & the outer atmosphere & the depths of outer space..

why do we keep living like we are made in a plastic box??

and lets face it the politics of such an issue is only about making public statements to avoid liability & avoid law suits for negligence..

vaccines are not effective...

a good diet & a productive lifestyle is the only way we survive..

i think humans are so silly by how they think of themselves in this world..

basic physics teaches that the very study of science & nature is incorrect because sampling a small peice of such an immense if not infinite symbiotic structure is not only narrowminded but simply cannot be achieved as all particles in space & time are forever moving & thus unable to be analysed in the way humans attempt to explain it..

by cutting things apart & saying this is this or that is that..

i think all this world is kidding itself..

do you think dying in your sleep is any less terrorfying or more peaceful...??

it's this hollywood reality that paints psychological images of ideals & the human expectation that this is the way we should live...

hunt & gather..

the only way the human immune system can truly attain its real chemistry & way of being... we have supplemented hunt & gather with shop til you drop

what more could you expect???

Any (and I do mean any) evidence to back this up, would assist your argument.

As for the numbers game, hardly. Normal flu sticks around for years (as this will) and large proportions of the population get it over time, not just all in one year.

You've behaved like a witless, hysterical moron throughout and I'M gutless?

I merely enquired as to why you were able to so confidently proclaim on the subject, especially as you now seem to be indulging in gibbering misinformation.

I assume you have expertise beyond your febrile (sic) imagination.

It's only fair you share with us, I mean, imagine a world in which only people of your calibre survive.

Medical screening for the Swine Flu virus (H1N1) has been introduced by local authorities at several airports for passengers arriving on international flights. Containment measures may be introduced or changed with little or no notice. You may be required to undergo further tests if you show flu-like symptoms.

Some countries have put quarantine measures in place for people travelling from affected countries, or in one case at a hotel where an infected person had been staying.

This bit? Some countries might start changing their rules? I am looking for the bit that says I can't return home from abroad until I am screened. Can't see it Cath.

lol ... Cath supplies the same link I gave her!

Does it say on that advice page, 'If you develop swine flu abroad, don't return to the UK'?

I can see the advice recommending that employees check whether their employer has repatriation plans in place (which is surely the opposite of the recommendation to stay put) but not your cheerful assertion you should not come home.

Cath, is this your independent advice, based upon your extensive expertise in the field?
