It's a worry that Scotland is spreading swine-flu faster than anywhere else in the UK. Let's remember back it was Sctoalnd where the first case was found in the UK, What we don't know is how many people was it actually first passed on to. The fella had played football atches ect and been to a concert.
Very worrying trend for the rest of the UK . Especially London and many of the major shpping centres, Bluewater in Kent, Manchester ect.. |

It's a relief that in England it's spreading so much slower than in Scotland, thankfully.

Sparks your one for questions, so let me throw one at you.
Why do you think Scotland is spreading it faster than the rest of the UK? |
|
By:
I don't know. Did they not have more initial victims from abroad?
I note that Birmingham is WAY ahead in spread than the rest of the UK, not sure of what parts, but there are some v poor living conditions in high rises and estates in some areas - no idea if that's a factor. |

Your getting your Balti houses and Mexican Restaurants mixed up sparks !! LOL

You had the cheek to have a pop at me over the other place and yet you won't answer the question. I see you are still boring everyone on here though. I rest my case. |

You ask someone above to asnwer a question you put to them ,but you never seem to answer one yourself. It's been 3 hrs and still no answer from you. I'm not chasing you around, I wouldn't dream of it but if you are going to question others atleast answer the questions yourself. My guess is you have not got a scooby doo what you are talking about. Leave it to the professionals. |
|
By:
How can I answer a question when I have not seent the question because I blocked you?
Ask me the question now if you wish. To think we was once good friends. |

Its all over the top Hysteria. If it was a crisis and thousands of lives are in danger, moves would have been put in place. You allways get some Doctor saying something else in the media against all others. Just forget the idea.Swine flu in school a mile down the road from me.Am i worried for my children. No move on |
|
By:
We was never good friends. You just happpend to be temping at the place I was at for a while and we both shared an interest in betting hence the reason we hooked up on here.
You are a nice girl but don't throw media rubbish at me elsewhere and yet never answer a question, Yet rattle off on here as if you own the place. |

1. Why do you think it's spreading faster in USA and Aus? Do you think it may have something to do with the fact they are heavily populated.
2. Does Mexico not count as Southern Hemisphere or is it only those that countries which have a harsh winter? 3. If the Goverment are that worried about it why have atleast 60% of the UK not recieved there swine flu leaflet 'Every house in britain will get one'. 4. If the symptons are no more harsh than the normal common cold then how do we know people ain't already had swine flu not knowing and managed to fight it themself wihtout need for any medication. Like 65% of the UK do each year anyway. I don't take into account lemsip either. 5. If the dangers were so high would the likes of the Queen makes guest appearences at Royal Ascot and mix with thousands of people? 6. How many deaths in Europe? 7. You keep on about Autumn/Winter being the main danger but have you not stopped to think that as Europe approaches it's hotter months there is a good chance it will die out and not mutate? Would you like me to carry on? That was only half the questions. |

1. Why do you think it's spreading faster in USA and Aus? Do you think it may have something to do with the fact they are heavily populated. % new cases it's spreading just as fast here in the UK. 2. Does Mexico not count as Southern Hemisphere or is it only those that countries which have a harsh winter? This is a tricky question and one I'm not 100% sure on. The normal season flu happens mainly in winter months when they tend to spread more. 3. If the Goverment are that worried about it why have atleast 60% of the UK not recieved there swine flu leaflet 'Every house in britain will get one'. You need to question the local postal services in your area. I have heard though many have been kept back ready for Autumn. I find this rather silly though, I know it's cost cutting but how much does a piece of paper cost to print? 4. If the symptons are no more harsh than the normal common cold then how do we know people ain't already had swine flu not knowing and managed to fight it themself wihtout need for any medication. Like 65% of the UK do each year anyway. I don't take into account lemsip either. This is the main reason it's spreading so quickly, patients are unaware they are walking around in the early stages passing the strain on. 5. If the dangers were so high would the likes of the Queen makes guest appearences at Royal Ascot and mix with thousands of people? It would certainly damage the industry if a statment was issued saying the Queen would not be attending because of the threat of swine flu. A world wide audience is watching, let alone what it would do to the industry. 6. How many deaths in Europe? Visit WHO 7. You keep on about Autumn/Winter being the main danger but have you not stopped to think that as Europe approaches it's hotter months there is a good chance it will die out and not mutate? This is possible but very unlikely as it will live in the South and will move up through Europe as the air get's colder as we approach Autumn. Would you like me to carry on? That was only half the questions. If you wish. |

To the person that mentioned Birmingham it getting out of control with swine flu cases.
I think because of the general culture in the are, many live in small homes but have large family, also alot of family gatherings where they could have upto 100 in the house every wekend. Also the culture is to eat with your hands rather than use a knife and fork. The heard wear also is not very hygenic because they will cough and sneez into it and the germs either pass through or stay on the fabric, this was the concern with people wearing paper masks in Mexico. |

Cath22 Moves have been put in place. If Swine Flu was actually in the school that your children attend would you be worried then? No.I dont get all worked up like some screaming parents, who know nothing but only to rebel against the system, when given the chance, for other reasons. Even the school who has pupils with swine flu,who indeed have been told to stay at home, carry on with life.No school closure at all. The reason for no school closure tells you the real threat from this. |
|
By:
Same death rate as nomal flu.
|
|
By:
Cath - What you say about Birmingham may have some truth in that and this was certainly the cause for concern when the outbreak first started in Mexico.
However it's pointless and not healthy to be worrying at this stage. Unfortunately people die every day but hopefully they have not sat up night after night worrying about something that's not happening or may not happen at all. If come the Autumn things start to take shape then maybe show cause for concern but the way you are carrying on you'll make yourself ill. |

There are as far as Im aware talks happening to shut all schools early for Summer, especially in areas i.e like Birmingham |
|
By:
well it can't be THAT early!

"as far as I am aware"
Go on then, whats your source? My brother (a senior consultant) is on the NICE committee, and he is remarkably relaxed; he and his family live within five miles of one of the first outbreaks. |
|
By:
Maybe just a couple weeks early sparky. First meeting was held at level 5.

As he said, source please.

Maybe it needs Andy Burnham and Edd balls to make statements at some point relating to this and the schools.
Not sure about up north, but four schools in london have cases.2 have closed,2 stayed open.Conflicting reactions to this. Im pretty positive that within a week Andy Burnham and Edd balls will make statements in the commons to this very soon |
|

Source please Cath.

I've heard it from a Goverment advisor. If they don't shut before the Summer holiday's then prepare for it when the kids return for the Autumn term.
