Is this some sort of 'religious nut' thread?
The only thnig that I know for sure about these various factions, Messiahs, Prophets Gods and promises that you'll be OK if you're in OUR gang, is that they are probably all WRONG.
They certainly can't all be RIGHT!

Don't see relevance of fossils and dna to existence or not of a god anyway.

Not my strong point in science but I'll answer as best to my knowledge. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Why are there no fossil records of life as it were - at each stage of development?

The gaps are being filled in as we discover new findings. Fossil records aren't easy to find but the basis of a theory is there. Unlike religion, it can be built on.

How do u explain DNA? every single person, animal, plant etc which has ever lived has a different dna...

Humans and Monkey's have 98% similar DNA but we can't mate together. Only species with a very similar DNA can reproduce. Its the very minor differences in DNA amongst individuals and small genetic changes through random events that drive on evolution. Usually only changes that benefit the species will be retained.

For example, coloured people in Africa have a special pigment in their skin (melanome?). Did it just appear there? Did god create black people in Africa and white in the cooler climates? I could maybe let you work that out for yourself.

I await your no doubt, predictable reply.

I have just discovered I was wrong, this man is named Ronald, not Robert. If you google Ronald Weinland there are lots of religious people proving him wrong. Tony, with all due respect, this feeling you're talking about, I had it too. I sat there thinking why go to all this trouble if it isn't true? It's amazing.

Tony, please don't think I am being rude but we are both gullible and naive. I won't be posting on this thread again (I mean it this time ;) ) or even reading the reply to this post because I want to forget it.

I have learnt a lot from this, I am a naive person who needs to use common sense a bit more.

Once again Tony, no disrespect intended and I admire the faith you have in religion.

ok one last response to Ovalman.

I read somewhere that when you get a tan there is something which rises to under your skin (or something like that) to protect you from the sun, which would support evolution because it shows humanity's ability to adapt and evolve.

It isn't exactly unbelievable that humans who went to hotter climates developed darker skin in order to deal with the climate (which makes colour related racism* unreal).

*not that I agree with any type of racism!

there is no real evolutionary process....a monkey is still a monkey, a fish is still a fish...and of course every single dna process has just been flung there from some outer space big bang gaseous, whatever...each animal, plant and human being has had this implanted , telling them what they are going to be, how they are going to smell, what colour they will be etc.

takes a lot more faith to believe such nonsense than in a creative, intelligent being doesnt it?

I can marvel at the simple apple tree, i am amazed by it, how that little pip can grow into something which produces food...everything is in perfect order, even the exact location of the earth while all of the other planets cannot contain life .

I could go on forever but lets face it, you need someone with more intelliegence say, velasquez, to argue this case .
By:

That argument is daft, whoever makes it. It's like winning the lottery and saying that God must have helped you as the odds were so small. For every winning ticket there are millions of duds. For every earth, there's a lot of uninhabitable universe!

Oddly - the arguments Tony proposes as evidence of existene of a god - I see as precisely the opposite - evidence of the non-existence of god.
Why create obscure creatures in the depths of the deapest oceans or in desert sand or crane-fly or gnats or weird and wonderfuls on Galapagos Island or dandelions. Makes no sense at all.

thats because ur 'spiritual' eyes havent been opened ivor!!
The biggest miracle of all is why would this God, creator of everything seen and unseen, care so much about some tiny, wormlike, insignificant man, indeed care enough as to send his son to die for him just so that he can have communion with him?
I find that wonderful.
BTW im not trying to 'prove' God's existence - he doesnt need me to do that, Im sure the only thing he really wants is to have ordinary people as his friends ..people who love him back.

Tony, you like many other believers are looking at the planet in one snapshot in time.

Were cattle, pigs, sheep, horses etc. all the same 10,000 years ago? Unfortunately a resounding NO. While we still called them cattle, pigs, sheep, horses etc. we have engineered them for our benefit. Now we keep the best breeds that suit our purpose and discard the rest. This is artificial selection. Man made style.

Similarly my point about skin colour. As we migrated northwards out of Africa the melanome levels dropped and white skinned people colonised the cooler latitudes. If we didn't develop brains and a yearning to explore then I feel that somewhere down the line, humans would branch off into two or more seperate species. This process would take tens probably hundreds of thousands of year to complete.

I too marvel at the world and the beauty of it. Its great that I will be microbe food at some time and I will be part of the food chain. It doesn't take a higher benign being to make me part of it, just a series of events throughout the eons.

Your last comment re. Jesus. Again I'll spout up, how is Christianity the chosen religion over Islam, Budhism, Judaism etc. and what branch of Christianity is correct? How is your God any better or different from David Icke's God?

Tony, are you saying that god sreated the sea iguana for example, and that it had not evolved from a previous state as the land iguana. the same goes for the sea lion that had evolved from the same ancestors as the dog's. I have been to the galapagos and as you may marvel it all as a creation of god, I have to marvel at the evolutionary processes that have taken millions of years to create the flora and fauna of those once uninhabited islands. Unfortunately the human it trying its hardest to eliminate that as well. Even Charles Darwin, a strong believer of the Christian god, had to concede to evolution. Maybe you should try visiting those islands

The more I think about religion and its concequences on humanity, the more I'm sickened by it.

in response to your 'which religion is correct' comment ovalman, (sorry bout mormons, thats a man made religion btw)
christianity is the only 'religion' if u can call it that - where God actually comes to seek out people ie to invite them if u like - into a personal relationship with himself.
I havent been suckered into anything either, my own studies, brought alive of course by God's spirit, (bible says he comes to us remember) lead me to believe Jesus is who he says he is, i have no doubts about it...i cant, or dont - have the mental capacity to go into it now but in daniel ch 9 when time periods point to the coming messiah, the amount of biblical days from the prophecy to jesus -were exact. Bear in mind also that the jewish calendar (or God's if u like) worked on 360 day years.
There are no doubts from historical records that the talmud etc or OT was writtne so many thousands of yrs before nt and there were loads of prophecies about jesus ie psalm 22 and isaiah 53.
The other religions do not have a saviour, if u take them on board u are lost in your sins, and if we are to believe not only what God says about sin, but look at the world around us, we can see after all this time that man is in a worse state than at any time since well yes, im going to mention noah again!
To say we can just go around doing as we like without regard for the consequences to me is ludicrous, we need a saviour. We just wont learn, we are destroying ourselves and the earths resources at an alarming rate.
I can see intelligent design in everything i see....if my daughter threw a jumbled up version of afull scale model of the solar system and told me then that it would just create itself into perfect order, and it did, then i would be rather amazed, yet evolutionists are quite prepared to believe exacty this as they talk about change be it in life or how the earth came to be formed.

This is the maddest thread i've read on here for quite some time.

All the more frightening for Tony Brokes apparently sincerely held crackpot beliefs.

It's fundamentalists like him that are the problem with the world, whether Christian/Muslim or whatever.

not one of u has yet understod that i have no sympathy with religion whatsoever.....if u have a relationship as ive said before lots of times, with Jesus, you would not be starting wars with ur neighbours or trying to force everyone into your way of thinking, people would be attracted to your relationship because they can see that you have something which they do not, and that you live without hypocrisy.
I think the concept of loving God and ur neighbour is a good one

Fossil records are few and far between. Only in certain situations are fossils preserved. We're only at the tip of the iceberg.

Science is a self correcting process, something which religion can't claim.

Love thy neighbour unless he's not of the same religion as you.

There's a peace wall that I can see out of my bedroom window. Something which religion has put there. My kid goes to a school which borders the wall. He hardly knows about whats on the other side.

Thanks religion.

This is why God is going to intervene to end all this which religion is correct nonsense....ok i know that jesus has or IS the truth but it isnt my business to go around 'bombing' the people who oppose my beliefs...nor should i be slating them altho of course it is my obligation to correct them out of love...
that peace wall wasnt put there by catholics was it/ now that is a religion..a false one at that...as it is opposed to the bible and everything jesus taught
