I saw Valuev on BBC News24 earlier on this morning.
By gum, he sure is a big bloke.
7' tall and 23 stone.
He's now officially the biggest Heavyweight Champ of all time.

I'd bet Ali would have clobbered him.

I stayed awake for this mornings KO-TV.

Some people watch fights and see different things to others.

These are my views on the entertainment.

From what we saw of the first fight, (part of round 1, part of round 2, then straight to round 9) I thought the fighter in the white shorts was the worst boxer of the two, until the bloke in the black shorts got decked in round 10. He was clearly worried about his right eye as he 'mopped' it with his glove, then the pillock got off the floor and waded straight back in with no right side guard up, and paid for it when a left and a further short barrage left the referee with no other choice than to stop the fight.

The loser looked fitter to me, and I thought he was the better boxer, perhaps he will learn from that error. If he doesn't, his career, as well as the right side of his face, haven't got much of a future.

I left the room for what seemed like 15 seconds and missed the second fight completely. Caught the replay of the punch that ended it.

Lovely left hook, smack on the jawline.

Fight 3 featured one of the braindeads who shouldn't be in a ring. These are the unlucky type, and also unlikely to amount to much. So slow that a hard puncher cannot help but hurt them, they couldn't dodge a bus if they had a phone call to say it was coming. I couldn't believe it when the dimwit threw a punch at least a second and a half after the bell had sounded to end the round. The referee quite rightly stopped him a point, not that it mattered, he got hammered soon afterwards. He should take up advertising on the soles of his boots as there's no other way he's going to make money from boxing.

These slow dim-witted types are cannon fodder for heavy hitters, and the sport doesn't need another death in the ring. How they get fights is beyond me.

They even make Audrey Harrison look agile.

Old black and white footage for a middleweight fight featuring Rocky Graziano. I've not seen much of him before, and I think he forgot to to bring his left jab out of the dressing room...lol. An orthodox boxer who led with a right cross, and even when he had his opponent hurt, he still only used a right hand. He never threw more than 6 lefts throughout the fight, but he was effective, and you can't argue with that.

I checked his ring record and he had 83 fights, won 67 (10 by KO) and drew 6. He was world champion for only a a short while, losing it on his second defence.

Here's a short but interesting read, along with his ring record in full.

The last fight was a cracker.

I'd never seen Ricky Hatton fight before. A fairly good boxer, tough as they come and game to the end. He ignored the early cuts, which, like Henry Cooper, have apparently dogged his career. I really enjoyed this fight, he knows how to box, that's for sure. He cut Maussas eye and kept on going for that, interspersed with text book stuff against a taller fighter with a long reach, he battered his rib cage. Eventually the pain made Maussa drop his guard to protect his ribs, if he can't breathe he can't fight. Ricky slammed in a left hook to Maussas head and it was over before he hit the canvas.

If all his fights are like this I may take an interest even though hes only 10 stones, a class I generally miss.

Well worth staying up for.

An excellent summary, AITL.

Paul Newman played Rocky Grazziano in the film 'Somebody Up There Likes Me'.
Noting his movement/action last night, Newman was spot-on in his portrayal.

I was also very pleased to see the Hatton v Maussa fight.
What an akward bloke Maussa is. Hatton fought very well to cope with his style and height advantage.
He also threw a terrific left, to finish him off.

Took me longer to bleedin' type than the programme lasted.

I was up early to catch an american comedy at 8-00 a.m. but they replaced it with BB dross instead.

I think it's due to last 23 days, absolute puerile krap that it is.

AITL, I'm very sorry indeed that you switched on, only to find that tripe.
The programme makers/planners should be 'shot in the face'.

It's krap Tommy, I was up early this morning, and switched on the telly while I went to make a cuppa, forgetting that I could'nt see thre american comedy I get up for.

When I came back to the lounge I suffered 3 minutes of BB before I turned it off.

It was a recording of the ' highlights' of last week.

Some black bird, sounded american, woke Barrymore up to tell him it was snowing.

She said 'Oh my gosh, it's snowing' SEVEN TIMES to herself, then 3 more to Barrymore.

If they were the 'highlights' what in the name of god do these morons watch the rest of the time????

Hello, AITL.
It really amazes me that people can switch this on to be 'entertained'.
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel...
