Hagler v Minter for me when poor Harry Carpenter got a bottle on the head as the crowd rioted because they didn't like the fact Hagler beat their man to a pulp.

Morales vs Barrara, the first fight. No knockdowns in 12 rounds, but still arguably the greatest fight ever.

Close second would be Danny Williams vs Mark Potter from about 1999/2000 (only people who've seen this would appreciate it. If I described it here I'd be accused of lying).

1. Danny Williams v Matt Skelton a couple of years ago when Danny hit Skelton with two low blows.

2. Herol Bomber Graham v Julian Jackson - snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Eubank was never the same fighter snake - he stood off the limited and lucky collins because he didn't want to hurt him too much. A shame really, because Eubank was/is a great Englishman, don't you think?

Benn v McClellan was the biggest 'tear up' I've seen, terrible in the proper, and unfortunately fullest, sense of the word.

Leonard v Duran ... the 'no mas' fight

Yeah, Benn McClellan was one we'll never forget. My mate's got it on video, it's a bit sick listening to the commentry after McClellan is knocked out.

It's a shame what happened to watson - it would have been so much better if he had just left the arena in one piece and compus mentis because it would have been perfectly acceptable to take the **** out of his arsenal shorts. It seems wrong though given what happened.

great entertainment i knew he would do benn ... who i loved when he was bashing yanks ...

i met him once in a clothes shop.. met lyodd honegan as well and his crew , nearly kicked off , biggest ** on the planet... largeing it from the first moment he came in the pub... in nasty way...

nobody i know from bermonsey likes lloyd although he did us pround when he beat curry..

brilliant article - I was never really a fan of Benn until that fight - he was braver than I ever imagined. I hope these broken men are one day restored, I too have exhorted men to kill other men in the name of sport, though not while they lie crushed I should add. That boy McClellan snorted fire, it's hideous what has happened to him, but the show must go on.

Off on a bit of a tangent, but as a seperate debate -

Muhammed Ali - Great man or a bit of a tool?

For me, it's definitely the latter. A great boxer, but all the interviews I've seen with him he comes across as a bit of an idiot. The way he treated Frazier in the media before the thriller in Manilla was atrocious, especially considering it was Frazier who supported Ali (both emotionally and financially) when he was banned from boxing for not joining the army.

I saw him on a TV interview recently too. I think the reason he comes over like an idiot is to do with his nerves. He was trembling when I saw him! :)
