James Toney on Prizefighter on Sky
James Toney's pre-fight antics have fired up his British rivals ahead of Thursday night's heavyweight Prizefighter. Toney, a multi-weight champion, is renowned for his fiery reputation and has already upset a number of the entrants ahead of the Team UK vs. Team USA tournament, live on Sky Sports. The American veteran faces Matt Legg in the second quarter-final, but Tom Little has vowed to dish out a humbling defeat to Toney if he gets past his first opponent Brian Minto. Live on Sky Sports Live Prizefighter Boxing UK v USA International Heavyweights November 14, 2013 8:00pm Sky Sports 1 HD Little said: "He was disrespectful and rude to the UK boxers, barely acknowledging us and wanting his own changing room away from all the other boxers. "I will make him pay for what he said and is saying about us UK boys. The other American boxers were all pleasant and nice guys, but it won't stop me beating them up." |

Frasier Ali fight 3 the best I've seen.
On youtube in full. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahEjU-BFS8c |

Prefer the first fight personally, kenny, even if the result wasn't one I'd have wanted. The Thrilla is just brutal. Amazing performances by Frazier in both though, and both show tremendous courage in the last one. The second fight is shyte by comparison to the others.

Cheers Mikael. Will take a look later. Just been watching the 2nd Liston Clay fight. Sonny died 6 months after.
By:
Will take a look yet again I should say.
By:
Six years later, kenny. Liston had a 15-1 record after the second defeat.
By:
I meant 6 years, Easter.
I'm looking forward to the big fight this weekend. Fury v Klitschco. |
By:
Me too kenny. I was thinking of having Klitschko but perhaps optimistically was looking for much better than 1/4. Might have to back donkey Fury now!
Been watching quite a bit of old boxing recently, maybe even a few fights from this thread (if Foreman-Lyle hasn't been mentioned, what a 'kin scrap that was!) but this documentary on the Gatti-Ward trilogy stands out and almost had me in tears a few times. HIGHLY recommended if anyone hasn't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYtCZDqepzE You know what? I'm gonna watch it again now! Also saw an excellent one called Facing Ali which had interviews with 10 of his opponents. Must see stuff for fans of the Greatest, but not on youtube unfortunately. Nice bump! |

I'm as interested in the fight this weekend as I've been for any fight probably since Lewis/Vitali. I just don't know how good the current crop is but I can't get away from seeing that crazy bum Fury going southpaw and humiliating Rogan I think it was. I know this game is about levels but has anybody known any fighter fight orthodox throughout their career and then switch in an individual fight and batter their opponent? I'm certainly struggling to think of this at heavyweight. Wlad is still the chinny guy who got blitzed by Brewster and the South African whose name momentarily escapes me. He just subsequently got taught defence by a master in Manny.
Really, really looking forward to this marking time fight. Until Joshua fulfills his potential. Oh and for a complete, you won't believe it, slugfest, you'd have to go a way to beat Foreman/Lyle. |
By:
Samuel Peter had Wlad down three times I think EO, if that's who you mean. Not certain he was S African though. Maybe Nigeria?
By:
This is a great head to head between the 2 fighters, Eeternal', in which Tyson shows supreme confidence.
I'd be very surprised if he wins though, despite the big age difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6J6-8asgyY |

Spot on, EO (as is usual with your boxing posts) - and me too. |
By:
Looking forward to this and Joshua v that guy who beat him as an amateur in early December. Seen a few of his figts and he shouldnt be taken lightly...
By:
Dillian whyte?
By:
Something like that, Rob.
I heard the boxing correspondent from The Telegraph talking about the fight a week or so ago and he said Joshua was definitely rattled by some of the things Whyte was saying - unlike any other opponent he's faced so far. Should be a really good test for him all round. |

Any thoughts anyone on the Fury v Klitschco rematch I strongly fancy the previous result to be reversed.

Hagler vs Hearns - three rounds of war.
thriller in manilla second. heat murdering both ali and fraser - exhaustion. |

Benn/Eubank in 1990 was a good scrap

Does anyone have any thoughts on Wilder Fury in a weeks time?
Wilder 1.66 Fury 2.66 |

No

It's a tough one to call Denzil, but I think Wilder will nail Fury late on. His record is incredible, although presumably doesn't include any fighters of real note. 40 fight, 39 knockouts.
Thanks for your comment Joel. Interesting as always. I bet Tommy Toes had a spiffing time with you. lol |
By:
Well I called that spot on, nailed him late on.
By:
Except he didn’t win. I don’t wish to be indelicate Kenny but you sound like a bit of a mug.
By:
I know, I watched the fight live. Do you not recognise irony ydc. lolol

Kenny. For me Ken Buchanan against Jim Watt in 1973 stands out. |
By:
Jim Watt's footwork was amazing. Idid a bit of boxing in my youth, 15-17.
By:
Never knew you boxed Kenny.
![]() Met Jim Watt on quite a few occasions, came across a really decent down to earth guy. |
By:
just for a couple of years, aka. You've no doubt heard of Ffyffes bananas.
Just been reading about Jim. His son died in a carcrash a few years ago, and his daughter took her own life in the 90s. Very sad, |
By:
btw, this thread is now 14 years old.
By:
His daughter was a good looking girl. She was a presenter on tv.
Suffered from depression because of constant headaches brought on by a lumber puncture procedure. |
By:
Jim appeared in an episode of Still Game.
