Just back from docs! Posted on the blood pressure thread a few weeks ago and mentioned it somewhere up above. Went to docs a month or so ago with a cold, told I had high blood pressure (160/114 ish). Which kick started the change of eating/drinking habits. Down to 140/100. Still a bit on the high side. If I drop the same as I have in the first 4 weeks then I'll be just about right :-)

Combined with 10 pounds weight loss in the same period things are getting better all round. 10-15 more pounds by Christmas and I'll be well chuffed!

What flavour? I have vanilla and chocolate smooth and both are facking awful.

If you want it for performance that is a good shake and I make an effort to down one just before bed.

If you want taste and performance then try express whey (33% caseinate, slow digesting protein) from Boditronics. If you order from there my advice would be to stick to the more simplistic flavours like vanilla ice cream or chocolate because shakes like cookies and cream sound great to start with and taste great for 2-3 shakes but then become really sickly. I'm now stuck with cookies and cream, banana split and strawberries and cream and none of these really thrill me when i'm getting up early.

If you wanted one specially for night time use then get one like midnight express from Boditronics or any shake with mainly slow digesting proteins.

Sorry havn't really answered your question, I just have to down mine and then some water because I bloody hate them...

Mines is the Choco one. tastes rank.
J2 how many times do u go to the gym a week and do you do cardio training or weight training for the shake?
If im on these shakes and dont go to the gym but play football once a week will the protien then turn into fat?
By:
J2BLUE.
When: 28 Jul 09 20:30
Don't go to the gym. Have a cross trainer, treadmill, exercise bike and weights at home (we're not rich or ultra fit, just built a collection unsuccessfully battling the lard over the last 10+ years)

I do an hour a day on treadmill. I want to do weights 3 times a week but it's over my head tbh. I sort of pick them up and not really sure what to do with them. I know that sounds really stupid but when I do exercises with weights I always feel my form is wrong. Plus how much weight should a beginner use? I tried upright rowing with 20 kilos plus the bar and it facked me up. Couldn't life the bar after about 7 reps so just stood there holding the facker. Doesn't sound a lot but it seems it when you do it. I don't know, I have a few York guides but it just seems unrealistic.

I'm going to start at slightly lower weight and try and get my three sets of 10 in and see what happens. It either seems too easy or too hard, I can never get it right.

Going to do some googling for inspiration now :)

monseuir, do you think that. as been getting a bit despondent as been doing loads of running and for last 7 weeks or so ive been hovering over the 16st mark, though my clothes are feeling looser especially tops but thinking the weight aint moving. so it could be turning to muiscle? I f so if i carry on will i get down to my goal weight of 13 st. Might have to try a different excercise as one knee is giving me jip not load of pain but gradually getting worse its a butning type sensation !

bernard, you answered your own question :-) and obviously you will be losing alot more fat than the scales show. despondent? you should feel great that your clothes are looser and that what you are doing is clearly working.

great stuff, you must stick at the exercise, try cycling or swimming?

the weight will start to come off btw

Dr Cash if you mix in a good handfull or 2 of blackberries/strawberries with the shake it'll taste a lot nicer and be more filling.. and use skimmed milk too or half milk half water

Yea i have the same problem with weights aswell but they seem far too light like something my mum would lift. I'm going to join virgin active gym next week so will try and get a training programme up and running.

All major supermarkets...sorry to sound like an advert :)

http://www.burgenbread.com/our_products/sandl.html

Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda etc all stock it

I like it but if you're used to ultra thick granary/wholemeal it might take some getting used to. I could eat an entire loaf of Hovis Granary and feared that one day i'd be involved in a shoot out in the Sainsburys bakery aisle but Burgen bread is a decent replacement.

I've been to gym yesterday and today, eating well, although been having wholemeal bread.. toasted sandwiches with sardines, bit of grated cheese. Feeling positive too, this'll probably come back to haunt me but I'm predicting a 5 or 6lbs loss this week.

Be careful with this. There is some evidence to suggest doing this forces your body to break down it's muscle. You'll have been asleep for approx 8 hours. The first thing you should do is break the fast.

The body doesn't break down muscle, I'm fairly sure.
muscles can waste away, but dieting, and fasting only breaks down fat, and may deplete some fluids.
