Depeche Mode are the absolute dogs, my favourite band of all time and do not belong in this thread. See them live mm and you will change your mind, they absolutely rock the place silly, trust me on that. I love them with a passion.

Lemme see, the beatles, led zeppelin, the stones, black sabbath, ac/dc, deep purple and guns and roses get more credit than they deserve according to chit chat, and I love all those bands!
Mind you at least you are not saying they are cr@p. If someone sl@gs off CCR ,I'll go mental ! |

Must admit Coldplay are effing terrible, like. Their sole redeeming feature is that they're Kraftwerk fans.

Good man Red! as Meatloaf said, 2 out of 3 ain't bad! :D
Manics and The Mode 2 of the best live acts I've seen too.(Also agree with you re The Prodigy live - fkin intense and LOUD!) Would be a dull world if we all liked the same thing, as much as some peoples tastes make me scratch my head! |
|
By:
HRH - agree - I've seen the Manics live twice, DM once & the Prodge once - all excellent live

The most overrated act in history. More tunes on a compilation of The Psychdelic Furs b sides imo. |

Disagree with a lot in here....
Muse, Coldplay, Oasis, Green Day, Linkin Park, The Killers, Kings of**etc etc are my suggestions, more controversially I'd say Queen, AC/DC and Megadeth |

Gene Hackman 06 Dec 20:11 Good call with Joy Division. Not a band I know: Prince The Prodigy HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME I concur Redbag...anyone who answers Joy Division should be publicly flogged...next the counts will be saying The Smiths... |
|
By:
Killers yes, but they are only copycats of the biggest pile of pretentious overrated drivel ever to be revered.
The fucxking SMITHS...UTTER **E. And i say this as some one who's father was a professional classical musician, Mother a writer and poet. Having learnt several instruments from a young age, sent to a school specifically for it's music course, played in bands, worked in the music industry all my life, and most important of all....am not tone deaf. |
|
By:
p & e ...stand by for a deluge of abuse.... The Smiths were unbelievable...musically & lyrically superior in every way to then and now.
|
|
By:
forget the 'to' at the end of my sentence..

By:
Morrisey pitched between the same two notes on almost every song he ever sung., because basically...he couldn't sing. His lyrics were as about as interesting and profound as a venereal disease.

By:
Dire Straits - end of thread.
|
|
By:
P and A, Morrissey can be troubling but shirley you can appreciate Marr, Rourke and Joyce, some of the music was magnificent.
|
|
By:
holy fk p & e...no-one said mozza could sing...but to say they weren't influential (and i know that's not what the thread says) is the most naive thing I ever heard...the man's a lyrical genius and to quote Noel Gallagher on Johnny Marr ' ..you can't be influenced by what Johnny Marr plays, because even he can't play what he plays..." basically he's saying that Johnny Marr is a one off.

Smiths, Artic Monkeys,Kings of** Muse, not to mention the mop-tops.....are you lot real?
absolutely clueless the lot of you, wouldn't recognise talent if it slapped you on the head, The Strokes ffs!! may as well give Hard-Fi, The Coral & Florence a mention while your at it. These threads are pretty pointless (and a wind up) a lot of contributers seem to be stuck in their era's. Those who dont recognise the incredible talent of Alex Turner are either stubborn or tone deaf, if you dont like the band fair enough but they have created a sound that is completely original which takes some doing nowadays, I would include him in a long line of great british songwriters along with Ray Davies, Morrissey, and Weller.... I dont get Coldplay though....... |
