Cloone
The way it's going PP will be even shorter than he is now!!
It's nothing to do with how horses perform,it's all about what Russell says!!! Laugh
What you say makes sense, but not sure this thread is open to too much sense!!!

So he's captured the public imagination by winning the galmoy hurdle beating a load of horses that have hardly won a race between them for  god knows how long?Or is it the RSA victory that's got the country buzzing??Look he's an RSA winner that could improve to be a serious Gold Cup horse, nothing more than that right now.

....only beat 4 cheltenham festival winners in that race !!!!  So you choose to put down the best jockey in ireland as well as the best horses !

I advised you to back him at 6\1 and lay off before march 15th 2019 at a profit
I told you he 'd be going for the hurdle prep same pattern as last year
You couldn 't believe it so you mocked
You are like many many brits, so far up your own backsides
Think you are so clever
Yes i do think davy russell is a far better voice than the vast majority ,(which includes you) on this forum.

Like I said, hardly won a race between them.
One a flat race!!
The other goes back to Sept.
Rock solid form for a 3/1 fav for the Gold CupLaugh

No doubt he is, but backing a horse down to 3/1 on the strength of his speak, with no solid form to back it up?? Good luck!! You may be right to punt yer hard earned on his word, hes a horse with a chance, but not at the price imo......which has been my whole point all along.
I have never put the horse down in relation to ability or potential, just his form in relation to being the price he has been all season and especially that he is now.

As for your opening post.no problem with that at all,and you have beaten the book thus far so well done.
Its most of the subsequent posts that I have taken issue with, the vast majority imo from those like you with this chip about the brits.
Its really not there with us,.well certainly not with me anyway.
Like I have said a few times now...I simply don't care where a horse is trained.(that seems to have fallen on deaf ears)
You on the other hand seem rather different by your posts.

Ok,lets have a serious chat here,2 people that are passionate about the sport and the festival, and put aside this bl00dy rivalry speak.

You have told us in your opening post, and I have said well done, and that was meant sincerely. If I had taken note I could have made money before the race!!
I did not because I did not agree with you,you have been proved correct and fine I have no issue with that.
I thought he was wrongly priced then.
I still think that now.

Your question:
His best form in relation to the Gold Cup and being fav has to be the RSA.
imo that is not solid enough, maybe you think it is.
No problem we disagree.

Anyway to be honest Irish,i have pretty much run out as far as this thread is concerned.
I have already spent more time than I should have with this, and need to get back on track with finding winners.....Irish or Brits!!Laugh
I genuinely wish you and PP all the best.

Shame there were no second season chasers in the King George or the Betfair so we have very few form lines between Thistlecrack, Native River, Might Bite or Clan des Obeaux with anything from the 2018 RSA. I am still open minded about this but at the moment I am leaning towards the older horses. It would be nice to have the Tizzards views. I suspect they wouid put Elegant Escape a stone or 2 behind their other 2. Opposing views make a market.

Will be leaving soon bud, but yes no problem.

Hoping roccco gets round today in the Cotswold , now that winning would shake the market up
By:
buddeliea
When: 26 Jan 19 10:25
It would that!!

A good run from Elegant Escape would do no harm for PP's chances.

Should learn a fair bit next couple of weeks with Chelt and Doncaster today, and the Dublin Festival looming.

Sage
The way Tizzard was talking the other week,i got the impression EE is quiet well regarded.
I got Native River wrong thinking the Gold Cup was too quick for him, maybe EE may prove similar?
Should find out a lot today, and I have taken the odds available for EE Gold Cup,just in case.

In the RSA PP started 5/2 fav against Monalee 2nd best at 10/3, only 10 runners. Would that be the price of a vastly fancied fav in a 10 runner race? In view of this does 3/1 sound generous against the present lot of Gold Cup runner including the defending champion Native River? Undoubtedly not, I firmly believe, unless one is connected to PP.

sageform colin tizzard said on bbc sports (tap in elegant escape and it will come up ) after the welsh national we have been fortunate to have had some good horses in cue card native rive rand thistlecrack ,elegant escape wouldnt be too far behind those and he is only 6 .

Frodon is a good horse but surely below GC class and although EE might have got past him in another furlong, that is 10lb below Thistle and NR.
By:

When: 26 Jan 19 15:50
EE is a slow horse, I'd be staggered if EE isn't comfortably behind the other Tizzard stars above, he's a thorough stayer and in an absolute bog of a GC he might have a squeak at running through beaten horses, but on quicker ground he'll be run off his feet I reckon.

one point you guys seem to have not covered is the jumping abity of the various horses. whatever the ground whichever the horse , whatever their capacity for speed if they dont jump well they will not win a gold cup.

I dont know enough about PP to comments on its jumpimg ability but it must be a factor you have to factor into the equation.
Maybe you could comment on the jumping ability as well as the other factors you have covered
By:
duffy
When: 30 Jan 19 17:15
He's a very good jumper, but just as important he's an easy traveller through his races and it's very likely that he'll move through the GC better than most, and this from a horse that we know that stays extreme distances.

Just compare PP with EE for a moment, both horses that stay extreme distances, one looks like a typical dour plodder in EE and the other one who moves like a much much quicker horse, total chalk and cheese.

There is no guarantee PP will stay the Gold Cup trip until he actually does it. He’s not even the best 3 mile hurdler in the field.

When: 31 Jan 19 07:05
Yes Cloone
Its always been about the price compared to what hes actually done on the Racecourse.
He can jump and he stays.
Now we have to wait for him to prove whether hes good enough to win the Gold Cup.
As always......some will be right, some will be wrong.
Enjoyed the discussion whatever happens.

As For Elegant Escape.....more than happy with the price I took.
He will do his best work at the end of the race, and If conditions suit might just be close enough hitting that hill.
By:
irishone
When: 31 Jan 19 08:10
It aint the wrong price if you lay off your stake now as the OP said, and listen...the way things are going the 6\1 could end up 9/4 or 2\1
By:
buddeliea
When: 31 Jan 19 09:01
That's true Irish,he will start a lot shorter than 6/1 it seems.

For me its all about what I think is a fair price for the race at the time.
I did not think it fair based on form, and what I have seen since on the track does not change my mind on that.
I guess if I listened to what some people say on here and not my interpretation of the formbook,i may have made some money.
But that's not how I punt.
I prefer to make my own mind up, based on my eyes and my reading of the formbook, and will live or die by that.
Each to their own.
Good luck mate.

3/1 ifor PP is a silly price no matter how one looks at it. Nevertheless, his price will probably get shorter on the day if the ground turns softish with the influx of the Irish money. Similarly, Native River another softish ground specialist. What a duel in prospect between these two horses? A replica of 2018 ding-dong between Native River and Might Bite.

That won't happen, PP won't be taking on NR up front, he'll be hacking away in the pack for much of the race.

Eeerrrrmmn pp wont be around until the top of the hill
NR will struggle when percy goes past after the third last
Question is will davy completely take the p1ss as he did
On lord windermere in the rsa
And go up the inside at the bend ?
By:

When: 31 Jan 19 17:25
Hacking away in the pack, rousted along top of the hill, under pressure to close gap to Native River, never got close.
Eased up run in.
