Yep, have to agree.
Don't really like using the description....but hes a monster!! Sort of horse that simply gets one very excited. Would not surpise me one bit if he does a Gold Cup performance like Denman did. Do respect the current champ though,he is very good.

Might Bite would be my choice for the Gold Cup if it was over 3m. As it is not the King George Chase is just up his street - my choice even if Sizing John turns up; he could even start evens or shorter if Thistlecrack and/or Sizing John are absentees. The rest including Djakadam and Douvan - show or not - are running for a place, all things being equal.

Totally agree Foyles. Was my idea of a GC winner after his RSA win. I am on at 7 and looking forward to hopefully watch him run in the KG on Boxing Day.

He'll have his work cut out beating SJ, who was himself monsterlike at the weekend, he made Djakadam look very ordinary.
| ||||
|
By:
Of course,but he's very exciting front runner and should provide a great spectacle for us.
He looks very good as well. If SJ is a better horse so be it,but whatever I have a feeling after the Gold Cup we will be raving about the winner,whoever it may be.
|
By:
thought he did it well today ,improvement to come jumped well and had worldhurdle/king george /feltham/betfair bowl /melling chase winners well behind ,some crabbing the race over the proximity of double shuffle but asd another poster pointed out mite bite had 2 races today burning off bdm and then having enough in reserve to see off the closers trying to pick up the pieces .
| ||||
|
By:
Couldn't fancy him for a GC myself, but I couldn't before today either, in truth today's was a poor KG, Thistlecrack must be a stone worse horse this year.
| ||||
|
By:
Henderson has worked his magic on mite bite,the horse looks a different animal to last year,won easy today,more chance of it getting the gold cup now imo
| ||||
|
By:
Agree with Duffy, couldn't believe the superlatives spoken about him/the race on itv afterwards.
He won a decent King George by a length, where BDM is clearly not the same horse away from Haydock, Thistlecrack nowhere near the same and Whispers weight carrying performance last time taking his toll. Just makes my view the the GC winner will come from Ireland even stronger. He is a good horse Might Bite, but Cheltenham will suit less and opposition will be stronger.
|
By:
Bit harsh imo.
That ground was plenty soft enough for Might Bite,yet all through the race he jumped super and hardly touched a twig. Going through the form book, better ground should see him at his best. Whether Sizing John is simply a better horse only time will tell,but nothing I saw yesterday would put me off Might Bite.

When Matter of Time starts running (which she only has 4 opportunities to get into a maiden this month to get capped) and if she wins a race before March i fully intend lumping on! That was a monster performance yesterday, to burn em off on the first circuit and then to outstay Double Shuffle like that who imho was fully entitled to be that close to winning after the gallop he went all the way round, he really only has one to worry about in the cgc, albeit it is a sizeable one
![]() The ground was soft enough for BDM imo and he was beat after the first circuit, has Thistlecrack ever been that good Whisper obviously feeling the effects of carrying that weight last time with the evidence of yesterday and his RSA win i'm almost all in, well as all in as STS can be anyways cos i never let one ride pmsl but you guys know what i mean, he's my jackpot in the race for sure!!I wouldn't be surprised if MB didn't start favourite ![]() On other thoughts, anyone thought about possible improvement from Our Duke?

Given today's Lexus result, I am very happy with 7/1.

Road to Respect on an upward curve. I was toying last year backing him at three figure odds for this but was unsure whether he'd be their Ryanair horse, kicking myself now.
Sizing John being 'distressed' and 'clinically abnormal' after the race; really hope he can come back. Despite the fact I still don't fancy him, Might Bite is now deserved favourite. Yorkhill and Djakadam won't be winning this imo, Coney Island and Disko are young unexposed improvers who may have a big say too. Also if Whisper is given a good break he always finishes in the money at Cheltenham so can't be completely discounted. Still an interesting renewal despite Yorkhill and SJ today.
|
By:
I'd be sticking with SJ, in the light of him being "clinically abnormal" after the race I think he deserves plenty of credit, he was obviously always at it right through the race today but still looked with 3 to jump as if he might just get back into it, we've seen what he can do in a GC and back on better ground if fit he'd still be the one for me.

By:
yes todays result has stirred up the hornets nest , it has certainly opened it up more, and some would be ryanaire probables may now be thinking of changing tack .

I think the frequency of runs by Sizing John has finally caught up with him especially on yielding ground - he was pulled-out of the Betfair Chase on similar ground, I believe; the proximity of his last run on heavy ground did not help either. Let's hope he is sound, and goes straight to the Festival with/out a run to defend his crown. I agree that any aspiration of winning the Gold Cup with Yorkhill has been extinguished post the Lexus - he was back-pedalling post the 3rd last fence.
If any consolation for backers/supporters of Sizing John Don Cossack fell in the King George but won the Gold Cup at Cheltenham at a bigger price too (8/1 from 4/1).
|
By:
Anybody any info on Disko, last I heard he was due out over the festive?
Obviously RTR's win might alter potential festival targets..

By:
seems mite bite has an official rating of 169 after his king george win fair enough on the face of it!, i think the horse is better going left handed and the undulations at cheltenham suit him better than flatish tracks , but it must be hard for the assesors to get a handle on him as he seems to idle and do just enough so to me he could be a fair few pounds better than his rating ,also seemed they were wary of the soft going at kempton and held onto him noticably. good spring ground should see a similar performance to his rsa win and hendo should have worked out a plan what to do after the last on the run up the hill .
| ||||
|
By:
I'm encouraged most pundits do not rate his Kempton win and/or his fav position in the Gold Cup market. Nothing beats a horse that represents value on the day given proven form. Similarly, Sizing John,...what a double bonus for the New Year; every little helps, may I add.
| ||||
|
By:
Harrington has confirmed all blood tests came back normal so the Gold Cup is very much the aim. She reckoned the John Durkan (heavy ground) could have taken more out of him, and Djakadam which could explain their lacklustre performance in the Lexus.
Onwards and upwards.......

im on sj at 9,s and disko ew at 25/1
i notice our duke is a low as 8,s with PP but 14,s with most other bookies, Anyone any information on the horse?
|
By:
Bet3**, Sportsbook and Paddies are all 'nrnb' hence Our Duke and SJ are only 8/1 and 5/1 respectively.

ah ok thanks imp123

Our Duke has had surgery and is well and the plan is to get a run into him before the festival.

Backed Our Duke after his last run, so thats interesting news for me, thanks Duffy.

final furlong podcast...first time I listened to one, quite good I thought....hammered Townend for Min ride, refreshing to hear some pundits not holding back.

That`s good Duffy, but you will never hear that talk on T.V..... NEVER, only in the Breeders Cup and the rider is American...... Stand-Up Mark Johnstone

have had a bit more on minella rocco ,happy with main bet mite bite but no harm having a few bullets as anything can happen ,as of last season some pretty average runs this season but with these connections what you see is not what you get , last year it seemed he was on the deck more times than lord nelson, but on the day it mattered he ran a stormer in the gold cup finishing like a train to snatch second not beaten far .looks like there will be no shortage of pace with a half a dozen who like to be up or near the front end and no harm to have a closer who stays every yard on your side .......available at 20s nrnb
selection gold cup ...minella rocco 20s nrnb most firms .
|
By:
No 20 nrnb on oddschecker that I can see Foyles.
I did manage 25 with hills nrnb(no other target)the other day,but best I can see now is 16.

By:
is it gone soz my mistake fellas not with it this morning ,went to back rocco again on here this morning and pressed pink and layed it by mistake
threw away a few quid backing it back at shorter .

By:
my final dart in the race .had some on anibale fly a few days ago and some more today on here at around 36 .won a decent handicap easily off a big weight and hopefully he will now be aimed at the gold cup seemed to show big improvement and happy to have him on side at a big price .
