At the moment there seems to be a small queue to back him for the Champion Hurdle at 24 and 25 here for £50 and £60 respectively. A red herring or something to it?

Probably just arbers taking a chance. If someone knew he was running all the double figure prices would be hoovered up in minutes.

The earlier £110 had been taken (I believe) and now £45 (new) on the back column up to 40 here - this is after the win of Limini over 20f.

Have decided 32 last night was too big to resist, probably a waste of a tenner but there yer go.
Would not normally back a horse that aint entered, but every horse has a price, and with his connections....who knows??

You can talk about him now thenGrin

I've been hoping to oppose him in the JLT as I've been shocked by how badly he jumps to the left. Yes, a left handed course will mitigate that but he's looked a long way from fluent thus far. His last run looked fairly shocking at the time and worse in hindsight; the form is very poor. My lay of the meeting if he goes for the JLT.

Champion Hurdle could well suit better, though he'd have to adjust his technique very quickly

His hurdling is much better than his fencing. He'd be my lay too, if 2/1 or less, esp the likes of Coney Island and Disko taking him on as well as Top Notch and Politologue.

30+ here or 10x that of, if supplemented, (3/1) for the CH is a betting proposition esp with his punter-unfriendly stable.

Calm down everyone....a knee-jerk reaction to Mullins' musing about Limini. The bookies have not lengthened his nrnb odds of 3/1; there will be ample opportunities to trade/out should one choose to.
By:
wellchief
When: 24 Feb 17 13:23
The nrnb price is on the assumption that he lines up so those prices won't be effected up up in the air running plans. Only antepost books should be effected because that's factoring in chance of winning and likelihood of running.

There won't be any chance to lay off if the chances of running get less and less because his BF odds will get bigger and bigger.

Despite a 7/4 fav for the JLT only £9 in total on the back section, unbelievable!

Willie's latest quote:

The JLT is the plan and all is good with him. We aren’t considering the Arkle for him, but if Altior wants to take us on in the JLT, he’s quite welcome to! The Champion Hurdle was very much in my mind for him earlier this season and it was nearly Christmas by the time we decided to send him chasing, at which stage we still had Faugheen and Annie Power in the mix for the Champion Hurdle. I did briefly think about switching him back to hurdles after those two met with their setbacks, but I had a quick chat with Graham Wylie and we decided to stick with our original decision.

Yep,They see Yorkhill as a potential GC horse.
By:

When: 27 Feb 17 17:33
Well that at least confirms that Mullins was considering a switch back and wasn't just musing about how fast he was, it also suggests that it was Wylie's contribution that tipped it to the JLT route.
By:

Hope it was Wylies contribution, and I hope he becomes a Gold Cup contender.

Duffy. That quote just confirms what he has said all along?

It doesn't confirm that Wylie's contribution 'tipped it to the JLT route' either. It just says they had a chat!

No, now you haven't read my reply properly CCM, it confirms that he consider switching him back, we know that because that's what I did briefly think about switching him back to hurdles after those two met with their setbacks means!!

It doesn't confirm Wylie's contribution tipped it to the JLT route I agree, but who said it did? not me, I said it suggests! that it was Wylie's input that swung it, and it does suggest it.
By:

When: 27 Feb 17 18:07
But I thought he had said that already? After Faugheen and Annie got injured? I'm saying it's not 'new'.

You're right, you did say 'suggests'... but I don't think it confirms it or suggests it!

Like they say, it ain't over until the fat lady sings!

We'll have to wait till supplementary day whether he's CH bound or not.

I thought it suggested it purely on the inclusion of the word but in the quote:"I did briefly think about switching him back to hurdles after those two met with their setbacks, but I had a quick chat with Graham Wylie and we decided to stick with our original decision". The definition of but states used to introduce a phrase or clause contrasting with what has already been mentioned.

I think that Mullins unconsciously used the word but and in so doing gave the game away.Silly

Duffy. I think we are entering pointless debate territory Laugh

I was just saying that I thought he had said this a while ago.... they thought about it when Faugheen got injured but decided against it. But the debate on here has been going on unabated since he said that.

CCM

It's bound to carry on until the supplement stage has been and gone, in no small part to the connections involved, couple that with the opinion of many/most that the horse would have a very strong chance in the race and how unusual it seems to some (me included) that Mullins would let the opportunity slip by, I do concede though that he's not going to turn up.Sad

So he thinks hes got a potential champion hurdler that he may switch back in future but aint going to do it this year despite his 2 main guns falling by the wayside. makes no sense whatsoever if we are to believe what they say . Which is very dangerous
By:
Can't Catch Me
When: 28 Feb 17 12:14
Geoff. I think it makes sense.

He is probably waiting to see what happens with his other horse. He could have Faugheen and Annie back fir and well for next year. Any one of his novices could win impressively and put themselves firmly in the CH picture for 2018. I suppose if none of that happens, and Yorkhill disappoints over fences at the spring Festivals, then they could switch back.

3/1 (nrnb) and 49/1 here or 16x greater is a calculating bet with a very good reward/risk ratio; Vautour was trading at between 10/1 and 20/1 in the Ryanair but started 11/10 despite connections categoric refutation - the rest is history.

I agree, connections musing that he may be switched back in the future makes no sense whatsoever if he is not going to do so this year given the absence of Faugheen and Annie Power, and an open CH.
By:

When: 28 Feb 17 15:52
Impossible,I don't get whatever significance you see in that 3-1 NRNB. Go ahead and by all means take it. At least you will have something to collect. But he's gone chasing now and he just aint running in the Champion Hurdle and at no point in time did connections ever say he would.

There is no comparison with Vautour last year where he had an entry for the Ryanair. I actually took plenty of that 8s,12s and 14s for the Ryanair, not because I knew anything you didn't but because common sense told me that was where they would go when they sat down and thought it through properly....and i said exactly that on this forum several times leading up to the race. Ruby was going to ride Djakadam and Vautour had shown in the KG that he just about got 3m(even that's debatable).Rich Ricci's "he's running in the gold cup or staying at home" statement was naive and would be WPM's decision anyway. The Ryanair was the right race for him and he was dead right to run him there.

You really need to let go of this bitterness, it's eating away at you day and night.

Mixed session of schooling that after watching video, was guessing at the first few but improved markedly after & appeared to be tanking along - he's having another schooling session ahead of next week according to Mullins in RP... “He did go to the left at the first couple of fences and Ruby [Walsh] said he was very big at the first fence down the back and got a fright.

“He was big again at the next but from there on Ruby said he was electric when the other two horses quickened up. He came to join them travelling very easily. I was quite happy with him but I’d imagine we’ll school him again before Cheltenham, where he’ll run in the JLT.”

he went from complete novice for 1st 2 or 3 to quite accomplished .another schooling session hopefully iron out the early rustiness. they clearly see him as a potential gold cup horse but he also needs to learn to settle. Huge raw ability just hope it can all come together .
i think the return to a champion hurdle dream is well and truly over
