To be saying a horse is something special after 1 run in the UK as a 3 year old I think is setting yourself up for a fall, he looked good but as so often the words superstar and special etc are throwing about too much, let the horse win at 1 of the big festivals and win the style of sprinter or our Connor did before he's classed as that! If I'm wrong I'm wrong, setting myself up for a fall! so what if I am, What should people do on a big public forum like this? Cover their asses and be so vague in their opinions they've a way out of being wrong if confronted? Come on, just sign up if you love him, be cautious if you don't. Either way horses like this make the sport what it is. Would anyone type so much in such a short space of time about one of the pointless flat horses who will race for 12 weeks and vanish!! What's great is people have taken the time to watch the race and take an opinion on him. |

This thing sounds so good why not stop fannying around and go straight for the GC. He could win about eight in a row before he gets too old. That would put WM and his Quevega in their places. The whole thing reminds of the guy who had this great pointing mare. He ran her in a race but did not realise she was in foal. Anyway she was home and hosed jumping the last but stopped and gave birth to a foal and continued on and won the race and to make things even better the foal came in second. For some reason this thread has reminded me of that story. PAC may in time prove to be the next coming but hey slow down a bit.

To give my opinion on the "he may run in the supreme" comments/views. (Paddy Power mugging people like scum tbh)
I'd like to say I will never post on this forum ever again. Period. If Peace & Co stays outside of JP McManus ownership and runs in the Supreme. Binocular ran in the Supreme as a 4yo, we know that, people will tell you that. Does anyone want to point out who owned the 10/11f owned by JP McManus, ridden by AP who ran in the Triumph the same year?? The reason a 4yo runs in a Supreme has got about as much to do with the trainer as lets say a four letter word, than to do with an owner with a bunch of stunning novice/juveniles at the same time. Peace & Co will not run in the Supreme because Henderson trains Hargam. It's utterly nonsense, Geraghty will do what? Cheer on AP?? ![]() |

By:
Does anybody seriously think this horse has the profile for the supreme? From memory the four year olds which have done well in that race had quite a bit of previous experience. Horses like Binocular and Hors La Loi had quite a lot of flat experience before coming over. Traditionally the supreme seems a race where plenty of experience including such flat experience wasn't necessarily a hindrance. Throw in the impression gained on Saturday with how he carried on round the bend that this fella was full of running over two miles and a furlong and I know where I think he'll be aimed.

will be interesting like joist says earlier in the thread how top notch fairs for the same owner/trainer combination...he himself looks a good prospect
By:
Just had a loo back over the last ten years of supreme and triump winners and there is a definite bias in the supreme for more experience. Vautour and Menorah were relatively inexperienced coming into the supreme but most of the horses had nine or more races. Presumably partly with them being younger this trend isn't seen with the Triumph you do have horses like Katchit which had plenty of experience but for example Tiger Roll won last year with what would resumably be a very similar racing profile to Peace And Co.

I see absolutely no problem in looking at the potential pitfalls in gambling on a pretty short priced horse for the triumph hurdle in December. The fact is this horse is eligible to run in the Supreme and see no wrong in pointing this out to people. Yes the possibility is just that .....a possibility no more than that, but it does exist. The discussion then takes off and peoples thoughts on that are put on here, but it's only discussion and surmising,.........what will connections be thinking etc etc. Really no need for some of the reaction on here imo.

Been away and only got to watch this race in full last night. He looks an absolute machine and for me his most impressive feature was his hurdling - looked like a seasoned pro. Good luck to all who have 8/1 and bigger but I can't get involved at 4/1 now. I'm on Kalkir @ 25/1 but if this first impression of Peace & Co is correct then Kalkir is going to have to improve a fair bit.

One thing you can be sure of Tory, 3yr olds will be improving. Good luck, that's a nice price.

I have backed Beast and Co for the Triumph but remember we are dealing with Nicky Henderson here. You would trust him about as far as you could throw him and running the horse in the Supreme is exactly the sort of idiotic contrary move we have come to expect of him over the years. Sadly it would be no surprise were the horse to end up in the opener on Tuesday.
One further point - how is it that Henderson has got plenty of machines beaten in the Supreme over the years (Spirit Son/Josses Hill/Binocular/Sprinter Sacre) only for them to go onto Aintree and improve markedly? |

He has ran once. In a 6 runner race at Doncaster. Undeniably impressive yes.
But people are foaming at the mouth about 5-1. For a race that is 4 months away. In a race where probably 33% of the field haven't been seen yet. Saying he is a superstar. After one run. Timeform say their rating would win a good few Triumph Hurdles already. We heard all this about My Tent Or Yours in the Supreme. He was beat. And people want quotes for the Champion Hurdle. For a 4yo. After one run. Certain people on here are going to look either very shrewd or very silly come the Triumph Hurdle in March. I personally wouldn't mind some 10-1 etc in my pocket but at the current odds I would like to see further evidence before the second coming. This thread has many attachments to it and I have seen this being devoted to the likes of Pont Alexandre, Boston Bob, Briar Hill, Annie Power, the aforementioned My Tent or Yours, Dunguib and what happened to them... |

Hendo is fairly gentle with his novices hence why he don't have a great winning record in festival nov hurdles. They often prove a lot better later on hence his pretty good CH record. As for the possibility of the Supreme.....I don't know the owner personally so have no idea what he would do were he to have 2 live candidates for the Triumph, splitting them would be an option that may appeal to him.
By:
Looked a machine alright, looking for potential pitfalls, his hurdling is so good as he gives nothing away over them which is brilliant when it goes right, of course that could be because he is just so good at it but being so low over them if he did get one wrong, it could prove costly.

having said that, I'm edging more toward CV's way of thinking than the contrary. |

Horse has its fans, but I'd say most are waiting to see more before nailing flags to masts.
If the horse was trained by Mullins, I'd wager it would be the exact opposite. |

just a few things bother me ! the price is too short now (although I would have been happy with 10s or better) and was this horse heavily backed for the triumph before Saturday ? if not then maybe he don't show a great deal at home and saved it for the racecourse , connections i.e stable staff who would have a good idea of its ability do they rate it much better than hargam ?or is there something as good or better lurking in hendos yard ? hard to know but considering the manner of which this one won they are a bit muted with the praise for it or lack of superlatives ,haven't heard bjg say much about the horse ,I know Jacob rode it but I would assume bjg would know of its ability and just haven't heard him give it a mention in his atr column why? good luck cv and all others who got decent prices

Hendo said after the race, that the way he won was 'scary' he was that good.

By:
Foyles got a message about it on Saturday, Working as well as anything on yard and was strongly fancied so wasn't unexpected but don't think they was expecting such a big performance.
By:
o.k gf the triumph not really a race I bet in much and the price gone as they say" if you see the bandwagon you are too late " was undoubtably very impressive but at the current price happy to let it go ,good luck with it all who have backed it !
By:
was there any quotes in price for the triumph before Saturday ?
By:
You can check all that stuff on oddschecker. Go to the triumph page and click on the chart next to a horses name, show you historical prices.
Basically, there was a small move last Friday at Hills from 33/1 to 20/1, but there was a couple of firms at 25/1 on Saturday morning, and half the firms weren't even offering odds on him. Doubt the stabled staff were putting their Xmas bonuses on him. http://www.oddschecker.com/cheltenham-festival/triumph-hurdle/winner/bet-history/peace-and-co/today |

thanks tucho!

With Hargam as well, Henderson would be justified in keeping them apart at Cheltenham. Peace and Co looks the best though.

Foyles, Hendo flagged up he may be special before he ran in a preview call with bet racing nation. It's on YouTube. He wasn't available on irishracing.com to put in my horse tracker so I never backed him on weekend. But point is he clearly was highly thought of. Was 16/1 for Triumph before the off on Saturday.
I just think he's a wonder horse. I might be wrong, I might be right. I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I just get goosebumps rewatching his race. It's the most astonishing debut I've ever seen by a 3yo. Like when a 5yo Master Minded won a Champ Chase by 19l. Never got near that again, but was still astonishing stuff. As always time will tell. Master Minded will never be remembered as anything better than than very good, rightly so as he only ever looked a superstar once. Sprinter Sacre made a mockery of the sport. Kauto won countless race by well over 10l, hell 20 and 30! I hope Peace and Co is a at the beginning of an awesome career. Time will tell. |
By:
didnt realise that hendo flagged it up that it may be someting special impressive and no surprise if he makes up into a superstar he certainly looked the part on sataday ,I was watching the race on c4 didn't have a bet in the race but remembering muttering to myself " that's gonna pish up" well before 2 out, hope he does turn out to be something special plenty of room for improvement ,, not a race I generally get involved in ante post and have missed the boat anyway , good luck with your bet .
By:
Watch him jump. Very quick and economical. Very impressed with him.
By:
I think Master Minded was a great horse tbh. He won 8 Grade 1s.
By:
i think Master Minded was brilliant personally. 8 Grade 1s. nuff said.
By:
8s and 10s all good, enthusiasm and bravery all good.
Dunguib changed it all for me though. Doesn't matter how good one looks now, they aren't superstars until they prove to be superstars. Boring I know! |
By:
Dunguib, seriously!!! He won a well know stayers race, the Champion Bumper, then won 4 very weak races in Ireland in bottomless ground, finally was given a bad ride in supreme and jumped poorly and was beaten 2l.
If you have a horse who can win a Champion Bumper you ride him for stamina, like Champagne Fever. So I cannot be having him compared to Peace and Co. The performance the other day was over hurdles, he jumped awesome and won in an exceptional time on the bridle. Dunguib did nothing like that over hurdles, winning races so weak his biggest price was 3/10. I just don't see anything similar between Dunguib and Peace and Co. |
By:
Can't see Peace & Co going for the Supreme even if Henderson thinks Hargam is as good (not saying he does). Lami Serge is 2nd Fav for that race and is the same owners so no chance IMO that they will clash.
By:
Shock,
He also has Top Notch for the Triumph-same owner. What if hes impressive and fancied, what then?? |
By:
you run both budd
![]() |
By:
Ok,but both in which race? Lami and Paco in supreme,or Paco and TN in Triumph?
By:
were hypertheitcaly assuming TN makes the grade as a triumph candidate
![]() |
By:
TN fred winter ?
By:
Yeh I guess we are,but let's say he does......would the trainer want both them plus Hargam in the Triumph? I don't think he would.
By:
4yo run in Triumph and Lami the 5yo runs in Supreme. It's not complicated. Or if you were a wise owner you'd save one for Aintree as it comes soon and the Triumph is a hard race on young horses so vast majority of winners didn't win the Triumph. The Peace & Co for Supreme is such filthy thieving by Paddy Power.
