You got Hurricane Fly at 9/1? Didn't realise he got that big at any stage, seems crazy now. Was it just after he scrambled home first time out?
By:
Sorry, should have been clearer. It was a win both the Ryanair and champ hurdle double
By:
Nice looking bets on Faugheen Tory lets hope he goes for Neptune as race looks very winnable imo.
By:
Hopefully The Tullow Tank goes Supreme, sorry Bally mate.
By:
Thanks Stevo. Agree that the race looks very winnable - I don't like apache stronghold or his prep, not keen on ballyalton, hopefully the Tullow tank and Vautour both go supreme. Red Sherlock could be interesting.
Getting very very tempted to back the Tullow tank now for the supreme - if he was a Mullins horse he'd be half the price he is now |
By:
The 11/4 Big Bucks bet is also NRFB - don't know why I missed that last night

Have Vautour and Tullow backed in Supreme nr fb,back up to Irving Tory, think Tullow should go Supreme IMO maybe find out in few weeks at Leopardstown? Best way re Tullow is nr fb with Vic.

Boston Bob 80 on here Gold Cup. Might as well have a little dabble as you can't trust what Willie says.
By:
Boston Bob would have more chance if it was a non-runner. Can't jump, never ran over fences this season.
By:
Am I mad BUT Briar Hill Supreme @ 66.00 looks tempting for a few quid, no stand out Mullins supreme horse and with CC AB bound and faugheen looking Neptune, and the way this bolted up in the Champion Bumper I can't help but think a fast running over two miles looks ideal after watching that bumper run again.
By:
Faugheen 12/1 Neptune
Silviniaco Conti 8/1 Gold Cup MTOY Xmas Hurdle won 11/10 Cue Card 3/1 Ryanair £10 acca Pity Cue Card is going for Gold Cup Still don't understand why he is going in a race he probably won't even get placed in instead of a race he wold surely win A day out for the owner I guess |
By:
Only had a Fiver on Boston Bob. Would have been a clear winner of RSA last year "IF" it hadn't fallen at the last. Can see Mullins changing his mind if Boston Bob gets stuffed by Big Bucks on Saturday. 80 is a BIG price if he runs and a crap price if he doesn't.
By:
I caved in and backed The Tullow Tank for the supreme @ 10/1 NRFB. Think it could be a monster
By:
True...Bob would've won RSA.find it strange he hasn't kept to fences despite jumping.never a world hurdle nag
By:
Congratulations Bally. You've made it onto the Aftertimings thread.

By:
Don't get you..has the World Hurdle and Gold Cup already been ran?
By:
Actually...had a further look at the World Hurdle and I could be wrong about Boston Bob. Very wrong. He is actually quite interesting
By:
my only antepost bet so far is boston bob for the world hurdle.will need to go v close in the cleeve.still unexposed over hurdles and a strong stayer.this race could cut up in a big way.
By:
Had a small nibble at quevega, sprinter, bucks treble at 9/1 with BV. Last two are NRNB and that could look big come march
By:
World Hurdle for the taking after today for Annie Power?
By:
Should be....would piss in
By:
yet shes never run over the distance and never with the word good in the going description.... strange...
By:
Couple of cracking races at Leopardstown today, hoping for big run from Felix Yonger, and The Fly.
By:
Felix form well overturned by over 20 lengths, soft ground didnt help or mistake but, anyway nr f/b have to look elsewhere. Pleased with Fly again, despite setback in week still best of Irish!
By:
Think Mullins has winner still, but will he both run, dont see Felix Yonger over further myself?
By:
Mullins said moving Felix up to further distance Stevo....poor run today.my Arkle picks are all gonna end up as promo cash lol
By:
Same here matey, not sure Felix needs step up tbh but will see who knows with Mullins. But do think winner is coming from Ireland.
By:
Triumph Hurdle added Plinth 20-1 has beaten current fav and double the price, running big Leopardstown meeting in Feb,runner up impressed next time decent price in pretty poor race at moment imo.
By:
Triumph Hurdle bet for me...
Pearl Castle 20/1 ew |
By:
25/1 each way on Sire de Grugy my only ante post to date
By:
Nice
By:
Topped up on Marito for Ryanair as race looks like cutting badly, another Mullins horse boring. Also topped up Rule the World 16 s yesterday so can at least lay original stake off on here.
By:
Would you not be worried that Marito hasn't ran over fences this year and fell over fences in the Jewson last year?
By:
Bally he beat Roi De Mee over fences New Year's Day.
By:
Duh so he did!lol
By:
In fact good shout Stevo...I'll have some of the 10-1 NRNB ew
By:
Well...approximately 6 weeks to go and some nice bets being held by people on here. Looking at my own position leaves me with the following thoughts. Also put further detail into the bets. Most of these have been taken NRFB with the view to perhaps steaming in once NRNB opens up.
Supreme Novices West Wizard 8/1 and 16/1 Only had one run so far and it was a disappointing debut. However, connections hold him in high regard and should be back out once the ground becomes firmer. Not a complete lost cause but at this stage I have written him off from there being any return. Also there is no NRFB concession held to this so if he wasn't to line up it's cash gone. Arkle Felix Yonger 10-1 NRFB Mozoltov ew 25-1 NRFB Caid Du Berlais 25-1 NRFB The latter 2 will definitely not run and I would be surprised if Felix turned up. Soundly beaten last time and although there was an excuse about the ground he has won on soft/heavy before. You wonder why Mullins ran him if he was that anxious. Personally this race is wide open. Reading on other threads you would think that if Champagne Fever is "the chosen one" he's won it at declaration stage. I don't buy that and he is a very poor price based on what he has actually done over fences. Remember he was available at 11-1 ew top 5 the day before the Supreme with Hills and now he is 4-1 having clouted one at speed and won an egg and spoon over 2.5m. Also was clearly regarded as an inferior prospect for this race to Felix Yonger and given the way he has went that is disconcerting. However, it could well be that he blows away the field next time out at which case I'll take a re-look but at the moment has he got the quality required to be a hat trick Cheltenham Festival winner in 3 different races? The race doesn't have very many appealing horses though. Don't like Dodging Bullets, Hinterland, Grandouet (should run at Crufts) and Rock On Ruby is too old and going there with a single chase run. Champion Hurdle The New One 7-1 NRFB My Tent Or Yours ew 7-1 NRFB Happy with these two. Not much between them as we know and having seen all the trials, the only one that worries me is Hurricane Fly and it is now a decision whether to save on him. I strongly fancy Tent to be in the top 3 and the doubt I have with The New One is not the horse's ability (and his jumping) but the jockey who tends to get too nervous too soon and panics. Goes to the front on a lot of horses too early and would be there to be picked off if he chose to do this in the big one. Neptune The Tullow Tank ew 14-1 ew 11-1 both NRFB Apache Stronghold ew 16-1 NRFB Faugheen 11.5 I don't like Apache will turn up and hope he doesn't so I get the refund. Good horse but a very interrupted prep. Happy with Faugheen at the odds but wouldn't touch him at the current odds as he has yet to really race much over hurdles. I often see the 20l demolition of Josses Hill being quoted but there were no hurdles in that race. He needs to race against something decent next month for current odds to be justified. The Tullow Tank is the one I love for this race as he will definitely (in my opinion) be more suited to a smaller run Neptune than a ferocious Supreme where he would be taken off his feet then it might be too late to grind out the finish. I still expect him to run in this once connections have viewed the 2m 2f Deloitte. RSA Chase Shutthefrontdoor 25/1 and 16/1 Ballycasey 10/1 NRFB Morning Assembly 16/1 Don't expect a result here at present. The former won't run, Ballycasey has only been seen once so who knows? and Morning Assembly is apparently heading straight there. If so, he'd have to become the first horse in 50 years to defy such an absence and that isn't happening especially coming off a defeat to Carlingford Lough who has only won 2 out of 12 chases. This race is wide-open at the moment and the Moriarty next month will reveal a lot more. Not keen on the British challengers. Ryanair Hidden Cyclone 33-1 Al Ferof 7-1 NRNB Beneficient 8-1 NRFB Baily Green 20-1 ew NRNB Marito 10-1 ew NRNB Don't think Hidden Cyclone will turn up in this but he should as he has no chance in a Champion Chase so could be cash going west. Al Ferof is the likely winner of this but probably goes to run in the Gold Cup when he should run here. NRNB so no risk. If ran here would start around 5-2/3-1. Benefficient again a doubt as to whether he runs in this but the way he won the Jewson would do me for this. No risk with the NRNB. The latter 2 were add ons in case the aforementioned 3 dont turn up. Baily Green was 2nd in the Arkle which is good form and overpriced and Marito was coming to be placed in the Jewson when he hit the deck. Race could cut up badly so I want these on my side. World Hurdle Salubrious ew 25-1 Annie Power 6-1 NRFB Salubrious is overpriced on his Long Walk form plus he's been in top 3 of each Cheltenham run including a Festival romp last year. Going under the radar for this but prior to 2 out in the Long Walk he was swinging away after only a 7 day rest. Annie Power would win this for me if she ran here and I would be surprised if she didn't. Hasn't had the necessary test of speed experience for a Champion Hurdle and this race is easier. Better horse than Voler La Vedette who was on bridle 1f out when Big Bucks was at his peak and got outstayed and beaten by better horse - the best staying hurdler I have ever seen. He isn't anymore and this time Annie would be on bridle and move on past the old boy. If she doesn't run in this money back as promo again. Triumph Hurdle Pearl Castle ew 20-1 NRFB Liked the turn of foot the other day at Doncaster, rated over 80 on the flat, has ran over a mile and a half and the trainer has won this. Good chance. Albert Bartlett Faugheen 8-1 NRFB Oscar Rock ew 25-1 NRFB I think Faugheen will run in the Neptune with Briar Hill running in this. Oscar Rock wants this trip and the trainer knows his onions when he comes to the Festival. Has a good horse called Urban Hymn but when pressed on where he was off to he mentioned Oscar Rock so that was nice to hear given I have been on for a couple of weeks now. Runs over 3m at Haydock next which will tell us more. Gold Cup First Lieutenant 20-1 and e/w 12-1 NRNB Harry Topper ew 33-1 NRFB Lord Windermere ew 25-1 NRFB Silviniaco Conti 40-1 for the KG/GC...treble stake laid off at 4-1 on here Bobs Worth 7-2 Rocky Creek ew 50-1 NRFB Al Ferof ew 14-1 NRNB Became a trading race for me and the bets have been placed in this order. First Lieutenant I think holds a serious chance with his Cheltenham record and wants this trip but is he quite good enough? Harry Topper will stay all day but can't jump. Lord Windermere I thought would win the Hennessey and shorten but hasn't been as good as I thought. Silvinaico Conti has a big chance but I think will be placed rather than win as I think Bobs Worth will win again. Stay on up that hill to pip Silvi. Hopefully not though. Rocky Creek wont run so dosh back. Al Ferof...I must admit just put him in here "in case" as I backed him at 20-1 for Neptune and he went and won Supreme beating my Spririt Son. Few more trials to go and a lot could change....couple more races/horses to get involved with as well on my mind |

Fair play to you for your warts n' all post.
To listen to some people (not many on here I should add) it's like reading someone with the foresight of Mystic Meg and the imagination of JK Rowk=ling the prices they're quoting. |

By:
Great: Irving (Supreme Novices) at 32/1, Rock On Ruby (Arkle) 16/1.
Debateable: Benefficient (Champion Chase) 27/1. Clingin on in there: Harry Topper (Gold Cup) 80/1. Gone T1ts Up: Boston Bob (Gold Cup) 28/1 |
By:
Have Irving at 12-1 ew for Betfair. If he wins that he will be 5-2 for Supreme. Deliberating whether to get on at 33-1 to win both
